We walked together hand in hand.

It felt like a fairy tale.

But I’d decided.

Decided today was the day I had to tell him.

Dong Hae led me to a cute little public park and we sat down on the grass, near a little pond.

It was a sunny day and we lay back on the grass soaking in the sun.

“Dong Hae” I started after running through what I was going to say a hundred times.

“Yes?” He replied, his eyes still closed.

“I have something I need to tell you.”

He sensed my serious tone and opened his eyes.

He shuffled over onto his side to face me.

“What is it?” He asked.

I swallowed and avoided our eyes meeting.

But I couldn’t say it.

The words wouldn’t come out.

Dong Hae became impatient.

“Tell me.” He said with a more serious and worried look on his face.

“I…I…” His eyes widened with the fear that haunted my voice.

I couldn’t hold myself back any longer, I looked him straight in the eyes.

They were glazed and curious staring back at me.

Now or never.

“Dong Hae, I’m sorry.” He sat up.

Then I realized how much it sounded like we were breaking up.

I had to stop this.

“Next week…” I started again.

He looked back at me.

“…I have an exam.”

Dong Hae’s expression suddenly lightned.

He started to laugh a little.

“Is that what you had to tell me?”

I nodded. He smiled and laid back down again.

“Wow~ You really had me scared there! I thought it was something serious!”

He paused. “Well, an exam is serious but I meant like…”

He was stuck.

I laughed at him.

But deep down I was feeling even more pain.
