Unrequited Love? Part II

Learning How To Fly

Chanyeol x Luna part II

A/N: Oh gosh so sorry you guys. It took me a while to finally finish this story. Work was pretty busy and I had some things to do in the last few weekends so I had no time to finish the story. I promise the next story is going to be faster! Anyway, I hope you all like the ending of part II. Also let me know which pairing you like to see next! ^_^

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chanyeol couldn’t move an inch after he saw his friend— his best friend run away from him that night on the school dance. He was speechless. He never knew how she felt about him— man he was blind and careless indeed. He never meant to hurt her. She was the last person on earth he wanted to hurt, but he could see the pain in her eyes and that was all because of him. He had broken her and he had no idea how to fix things. For the first time in his life his heart was literally hurting.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Sunyoung left early that morning to catch the train to her aunt. Even though she hadn’t originally planned on going to her aunt this was the best thing to do for her right now. She could take her mind off of things and try to get over him. She did feel a little bit bad about her outburst. That’s what you get for bottling things up. She should have been honest with him a long time ago, but she always chose to keep shut. She was too scared— too scared for the way he would react to her confession and she really didn’t want to ruin their friendship.

After a few hours of sitting in the train and seeing endless of stretches of farm land and trees pass by Sunyoung could finally get off and stretch her legs. Her aunt greeted her in the hall of the train station with a big hug. “Good to see you, Sunyoung. You really should come visit more often.” A small smile crept on her face when she saw her aunt being so happy to see her again. |I will try to visit you more often!”

“Let’s go, I will make you some food and you can get settled in.” That sounded good to her. She was glad to be out of the train. A train ride is fun, but if only it was a bit more comfortable. She got in the car with her aunt. It was a quiet ride and that was okay with Sunyoung. After half an hour her aunt pulled up onto a dirt road which led to her house. Sunyoung loved to go there when she was little. There were always lots of animals which she could play with and also with the kids that lived nearby. Life was so much simpler back then. Sometimes she wished she could go back in time and re-live her childhood. Children always want to be older, but once you get older you realize the hardships of growing older and it really isn’t all that fun after all.

She got out of the car once her aunt had parked the car and took out her suitcase to bring it inside. She got the room she always got and it was exactly the way she remembered it with the cute flowery print on the bed sheets and the soft yellow curtains. After scanning the room and taking in the familiar surroundings for a moment she let herself fall on the bed. A little rest before unpacking her things wouldn’t hurt. —————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Chanyeol awoke from the sun shining through his curtains. Last night seems like a dream. A bad dream. A very bad dream. At least he wished it to be a dream, but now that he was waking up everything came back to him and it hit him that it was reality. He wanted to talk to her so badly and talk everything out. He really never meant to hurt her in any way.

With a heavy sigh he got himself out of bed. As he passed his window he couldn’t help but to glance at her window. Her house looked dark and surprisingly vacant. Almost as if she never lived there at all. It was strange to see it like that and he actually didn’t expected it either. Where did she go? Would she come back? Normally he never felt this anxious. Right now he just wanted to talk to her and tell her— He wasn’t sure. All he knew was that he couldn’t live without her. That might be a little bit over-dramatic, but that’s how he felt right now.

After a few more hours of washing up, getting dressed and eating some breakfast there was still no sign of Sunyoung returning home and his impatience grew. He never felt this way about any girl really. He wasn’t even worried when his former girlfriends wouldn’t pick up their phone or couldn’t meet up with him. And now here he was worrying like crazy over a girl he never dated before. What does that even mean?

This couldn’t go on any longer and he grabbed his phone. He dialed her number, but after he realized she really wasn’t going to pick up he changed his strategy and called one of their mutual friends; Jinri.

After a few rings she finally picked up her phone: “Hello?”

“Jinri!”

“Chanyeol oppa?”

“Yeah. This might be a weird question, but— Is Sunyoung with you?”

“No, she isn’t here.”

“Are you sure? I just want to know if she is okay.”

“Yes, I’m sure. Just give her some time, oppa.”

“Do you think we will ever be friends again?”

“I— I really don’t know.” There was some sadness in her voice. They were both her friends and she felt for the both of them.

After saying their goodbyes he hung up the phone. Next was Amber. She was his age and in the same class as he is. It’s pretty funny how they had the same friends and also made it easier to maybe find out where she was and if she was doing okay.

Amber picked up quite quickly. “Yo Chanyeol!”

“Yo Amber.” “What’s up?”

“I actually called you to ask if Sunyoung is with you?”

“No, she is not here.”

Same answer as Jinri and he sighed. “Do you perhaps know where she is?”

“Uhhh… I don’t know. She’s not at home?”

“No… Are you sure you don’t know where she is?”

“I wish I could help ya out, but I don’t know. I’m sure she is somewhere safe.”

“Thanks anyway. Call me when you know something about her?”

“I will.”

He hung up once again with no answer of her whereabouts and it annoyed him. It felt like they knew, but just didn’t want to tell him. Next on his list to call was another friend of theirs. Someone that was in her class. Maybe he could finally tell him where she was or what kind of plans she had for he holiday. Normally he just knew everything about her. What she was going to do. How she felt. Now he realized how much he had neglected her as a friend. And for what really? His whiny girlfriend? He should never have wanted her back in the first place. Sunyoung was right about her. And she wasn’t even his first so you’d think you learn your lesson the first time, but no. He was just as stupid as he was with his first girlfriend. He cleared his throat. No time to feel sorry for himself. It was time to resume the mission in finding Sunyoung. He scrolled through his phone and dialed the number of Byunghun.

“Hello?”

“Byunghun? It’s Chanyeol.”

“Oh hey man. What’s up?”

“Not that great actually, but maybe you could help me out.”

“I thought you were back together with your girlfriend?”

“I think I made a huge mistake. Do you happen to know any of Sunyoung’s plans this Summer?”

“Oh yeah. I heard her talk to Chanhee about visiting her aunt for this Summer.” “

This is very helpful. Thanks man. I will talk to you later.”

She went to visit her aunt! Of course. He got up so fast that he hit his knee against his desk in the progress which made him jump around to get rid of the pain and letting out a few curse words. He stumbled around his room to grab his bag and collect a few things and at the same time walked off the pain from bumping his knee against his desk. He knew where her aunt lived. Sorta. He would remember once he got there. He knew the trip was going to be a long one so he made sure he packed enough food to last him for at least a day. He hurried to the trainstation after leaving his mother a note saying he was going to stay with a friend for a few days. The train was the easy part. Once he got out it would be a different story. He wasn't too sure how to get to the house of her aunt. He was completely dependent on his sense of direction and his memory. It was years ago when he last went along with Sunyoung. It was the best time he ever had as a child. They would run around the fields and play hide and seek in the barn. He had one of the best memories of going along on vacations with Sunyoung.

He spend the entire train ride thinking back about these Summer vacation memories. The more he thought about it the more he started to realize his life had become much better when Sunyoung came into it. That might sound extremely lame, because there was nothing really wrong in his life before she came into it. However there was just something about her that made it even better. She is a ray of sunshine lighting up the room whenever she walked in. He caught himself smiling when thinking about her like that.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Sunyoung threw her phone away with an annoyed huff. She shouldn’t have checked. She saw all the missed calls from him and she wondered what he had to say to her. He seemed to have been pretty desperate in getting in touch with her. She shouldn’t care, but she did and that what was something that pissed her off. She came here to not think about him and do some healing, because she really needed that. She should just turn her phone off so there would be no temptation into calling him back or picking up her phone when he calls again- if he calls again.

“Sunyoung!” Her aunt called out for her from downstairs. “Coming!” She grabbed her phone once again- pausing her finger above the button to turn her phone off for just a moment before deciding to press it and her phone screen turned all black. With a satisfied nod she got up and made hr way downstairs to see what her aunt wanted her to do. “Ah there you are.” Her aunt said with a smile and wiped her hands clean on her apron. “Could you please get some more things from the market for dinner?” She handed her a list with things she needed. “I’ll be back in a little while!” She said while taking the list from her aunt and off she went.

The sun was shining brightly and in this weather you couldn’t help but to feel a little bit happier. There were also lots of good memories from when she was a child coming here and later when they moved she even brought Chanyeol a few times along with her. Careless days. How she wished she could go back to that, but it’s all part of growing up. Falling in love— getting your heart broken. He wasn’t the first and he wasn’t going to be her last either. Things like that make you stronger and you learn from mistakes you make. She nodded to herself.

No more sulking about things that could have been or what she wished would have been. That doesn’t help her at all and she was done with it. She needed to look forward and for now that meant having a nice vacation with her aunt and helping her out with some work. Slowly she would get over all her feelings that way. Or so she hoped at least. —————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Chanyeol had been walking for god knows how long already. His legs were starting to get sore along with his feet. The road seemed to be ongoing— without his end destination anywhere in sight. He started to worry that perhaps he underestimated this walk. If only a car would pass by him so he could ask for a lift to the nearest town. Why did he have to be stubborn and not take the bus at the train station. Though to be honest he didn’t see any bus pass him in the last few hours which was kinda weird. He was at the country side though and the busses stopped coming after a certain time in the evening.

The sky was starting to get darker and he knew he needed to hurry or he wouldn’t be able to see as much anymore. The woods made it extra dark— it was a little bit creepy. He wanted to go faster, but his sore muscles made it so hard to keep going. Slowly he felt the energy leaving his body. It was hard to keep going. The only thing that kept him from still going on was to be able to see Sunyoung. He would endure it all for her.

The darkness was setting in more now and it was getting a bit more chilly out. He fastens his steps a bit and there a few feet in front of him he finally saw the dirt road leading to Sunyoung’s aunt’s house. With some new found adrenaline he ran towards the house. He remembered the red bricks that covered the roof and the wooden rake charm above the front door. He had to bent down with his hands on his knees to catch his breath. ———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Sunyoung had just settled herself into bed and was just about to reach for her book when she heard something hit her window. She stayed silent for a moment until she heard it again. She let out a groan when getting out of bed again. This was the second time her neighbor’s son— who is around the same age as her tried to get her attention at night. Now, she didn’t mind hanging out with him from time to time just not sneaking away with him somewhere in the night. Her heart wasn’t ready for any other guy yet.

“Sunyoung!” She stopped half in her tracks. That was not the voice of her neighbor. That was Chanyeol’s voice, but that was impossible. She had spoken to Amber today and she told her that she had spoken to him, but never told him where she was nor did Jinri tell him anything. She was baffled and just stood there frozen in her spot. Was she dreaming?

“PARK SUNYOUNG!” He shouted now. He was hoping that he didn’t disturb anyone else, but he wanted to make sure she heard him. He was exhausted from his long trip, feeling cold and most of all nervous. Now that he was here he had no idea what he was going to say— how she was going to react to him. Maybe she would slap him in the face which he really deserves.

The shout of her name made her regain movement in her body. He was here. He was really here. She quickly ran downstairs and opened the door. “Chanyeol oppa…” All this time she has been mad at him— she even yelled at him the last time they saw each other, but seeing him standing here in front of her aunt’s house in the middle of the night made her forget all that anger. She felt confused though. What was he even doing here? She secretly hoped he would come to her when he realized he has been an idiot and that he loved her, but was this really the reason he was here.

“Sunyoung…” He walked up to her and just wrapped his arms around her— leaning more against her body that felt nice and warm. “Sunyoung please forgive me for being the biggest idiot on the planet. I love you. I’ve always loved you. I don’t need anyone else in my life but you. I’m so sorry for hurting you all this time.”

She was startled by his sudden hug, but even more by his words. Now that he was close to her she could feel how cold he was feeling and it made her wonder how long he was outside. “You feel so cold. Let’s go inside.” He was half stumbling inside so she wrapped her arm around his waist so he could lean on her more while helping him inside. “How did you even get here, oppa?” Quietly they made their way into the kitchen and she pulled a chair out for him to sit on. “Train and then I walked here.” He mumbled. Exhaustion was taking over and all he wanted was to crawl into bed and sleep— preferably with her in there as well.

She was baffled once again and stared at him. He walked all this way just for her. With the car it didn’t look like it was far from the station, but walking the whole end was a whole different story. “You… You walked all this way for me?” She couldn’t help but to smile. Now she remembered why she fell for him in the first place.”You’re an idiot, but you’re an idiot that I love.” She blushed slightly when saying the last bit. She felt slightly shy—even though she knew him for years she was still a girl in love—she walked up to him and wrapped her arms around him again.

He nodded before a shock went through him when she called him an idiot. He definitely deserved it. He was prepared for whatever was about to go down— not expecting her to immediately forgive him or even wanting to forgive him, but when he looked up at her and saw that smile of hers— that smile that could light up every room and he loved to see so much— he knew she meant it in a loving way. He pulled her on top of his lap and wiped some of her hair out of her face before he leaned in to press his lips against hers gently kissing her.

She wrapped her arms around his neck as she leaned in closer to him until she could feel his lips against hers. It felt better than she ever imagined it to be.
