Me, a spy?

Why yes, yes I am.

Not that you would know if you had met me.

Everyone around me is clueless, jealous, but clueless.

To them, I am just the girl who comes to work everyday early, each day with a different shade of blue nail varnish.

Today, cobalt, my favourite.

To them, I am the girl who often is allowed to leave early, because I always get my work finished first, and when I am free to waltz happily to the exit, I can always hear the annoyed tapping of the receptionist’s nails against the mahogany counter, her eyes burning into the back of my skull, this gesture, I always rebut with a swivel of my head and a small smile to show them that I know what they think about me, but mask it with my simple, innocent, demure self.

You must think, how would you live such a life? How can you have such an ordinary occupation, but acclaim to be a spy.

It’s all a masquerade you see, simple as that.
