fourteen; the anger within
The CEO's Daughter
Miyoung waited until the sixth ring when her mother finally picked up the phone. She missed her so much and she thought she could call her to hear her voice again. "Hello, mom!" She exclaimed excitedly over the phone.
"Miyoung, honey..." her mother said on the other line. "Is something wrong? Why'd you called?"
"Oh, I just miss you mom that's all."
"Aw, I miss you too honey. Send my regards to papa."
Her happines died down a bit. "Wait, you mean you haven't call dad ever since I got here?"
"Oh no, honey. We've talked once and—"
"Once?" She parortted, almost yelling out. For heaven's sake, she couldn't believe this. "You called dad just once and none followed after that?"
"You see, Miyoung-ah. I'm pretty busy here..." Miyoung closed her eyes shut, refusing to believe all the words from her mother's mouth. "...and I'm sure your father, too. So that was why I only called him once. I really don't want to be a bother."
"Do you even realize that this whole busy thing is ruining your relationship with dad?"
"Honey—"
"Mom, I..." She trailed off. She was trying not to get sick of this. But she just can't. "Never mind."
"I promise I'll make it up to you, my dear. Once I can find time, I'll seriously fly back to Seoul to be with you okay?"
She sighed. "Whatever, mom." She muttered softly. She had heard that many times already so it was no use to hope for it.
"Don't be sick, okay? I love you. Tell dad I love him and I miss him. I'll be back soon. Bye honey~"
"By mom." She muttered lifelessly but her mom had already put the phone down. "What a great life I'm having..." She muttered sarcastically to herself.

"Dad, you haven't called mom yet?" Miyoung asked him. He looked up from writing something on a piece of paper and pushed his eyeglass up to the bridge of his nose. She sighed. "Do you realize that you're slowly drifting away from each other? Mom told me you've talked only once ever since I got here. What is wrong with you, dad? Can't you at least call mom twice or thrice a week and ask how she's doing?"
"I don't want to disturb her because I know she's busy."
"That's the point." She almost shouted. "You two had never find time for each other because you're drowning yourselves with work. Heck, you don't even have time for me."
"Miyoung, even if mother and I are not calling each other on the phone it doesn't mean we're forgetting each other. I love your mom—"
"Love is a verb, dad. You can't just say you love a person without even proving it." She said, cutting him off.
Her dad sighed like saying he had enough of this argument over and over again. He opened his drawer and fished out something. "Here, take my credit card and buy something you like." He tossed the card on the table in front of her. She couldn't believe he just said that.
