“Oh no...” Jonghyun looks outside and cringes. How could he forget his rain gear at a time like this? Sure, it wasn’t raining this morning, but, he should’ve known to be prepared during the monsoon season. He steps out from under the school ledge expecting to be drenched within a second, but that never happens. He looks up to see a jumbo-sized umbrella blocking him from the rain.

“You’re a fast walker.” says a boy beside him. Jonghyun sees the boy wearing a kind smile and an oversized poncho that almost covers his black rain boots peeking underneath. He’s never seen this person before so he wonders how the boy knows this. He’s right though. Jonghyun only walks fast because he knows he’ll be surrounded by people at home later. He gets lonely walking by himself.

“Thanks...”

“Onew.” The other finishes. Jonghyun takes the umbrella and they start walking in the same direction. They soon learn they only live a couple blocks away from each other. Jonghyun also learns that Onew is a year older than him. They enjoy the rest of the walk in a comfortable silence.

Jonghyun stops in front of the apartment complex. “Thanks again.”

“See you tomorrow?”

“Sure.” Jonghyun says before dashing inside.
