Stars can't shine without darkness...Those five words lingered in Taemin's thoughts until he fell asleep that night, smiling. He hadn't heard much meaningful words that he could relate to in a while. Well, his parents weren't usually there for him anyway. Kai’s secretly wise, mmh? Taemin chuckled to himself as he fell asleep.

"mmmm..." Kai growled lightly in his sleep, dragging his pillow over to cover his ears as the catchy tune of his phone alarm buzzed noisily into his ears. "Argh!" Kai knew he had to give in, spying the time on his phone that read 6.30AM, or he would be late. As he roughly switched the echoing sound off, Kai took a peek above him. I chose the most annoying song for my alarm, and he can't hear it? That boy seriously...Kai clicked his tongue playfully as he leapt up the steps. A mischievous thought popped into his mind as Kai inched towards the still sleeping Taemin that really quite resembled an angel, but he shoved it away as an afterthought. He figured if he was nice to Taemin, he would be nice too. Meaning, he hoped for no more shocking wake up calls like the last time...Kai groaned at the thought. 

"Yah...wake up sleepy head!" Kai chuckled at Taemin's really awkward yet cute sleeping position that had his legs swung over pillows and bolsters. "Yah wake up! We're gonna be late!" Kai tried shaking Taemin a little, considering his words had no effect at all. That boy slept like a log when he didn’t set his own alarm... Seeing that his actions were futile, Kai smirked and resorted to his last attempt. If it didn't work, he didn't know what would. "Taemin-sshi, you're going to regret not waking up earlier..." Kai gave one last evil grin before his hands and fingers started grazing all over Taemin's lean and soft waist, poking him all along his sides. "WHA-WHAT oh god STOP!!" Taemin suddenly leapt out of his peaceful slumber, wriggling on his bed everywhere, his face pained with laughter and shock as Kai hopped into his bed and continued to tickle him. The younger boy, Kai, had a really amused and teasing expression, and broke out into grins and laughter as he watched the facial expressions of his victim who was suffering under his touches. "So you better get up first thing when I wake you up next time or else..." Kai smirked at Taemin, trying to suppress his laughter at his cute hyung. "Yah...I'm a heavy sleeper..." Taemin pouted as both of them got off the bed to wash up before they were late. "That's your problem~" Kai sang as he skipped down the stairs, secretly chuckling.  

As the door clicked shut, the two boys walked side by side to their dance class. Kai had a stylish-looking white bag slung over his right shoulder while Taemin carried a dark blue one on both his shoulders. Today was Fashion Friday, sort of a mini occasion once every month where students were encouraged to show off their style just for a little fun in the campus. Although they both found it a little ridiculous, Taemin and Kai still played along. The older boy had on a long black t-shirt that had the word 'wicked' stylishly embossed on the front, matched with really tight dark blue jeans which matched the colour of his backpack. Since it was Fashion Friday anyway, Taemin decided to play it up with some black ankle-high, studded sneakers and a graffiti cap that was plated with three gold stars on the front. Kai had on a plain white v-neck t-shirt with a navy blue-and-white varsity jacket with star buttons to complement it, along with blue skinny jeans and dark blue platform sneakers as well. As the two boys strolled down the corridor side by side, you had to admit they looked really good. 

"Oppaaa~  Kai oppa! You look so handsome today~" Taemin crooned to his partner, leaning in to Kai's face, trying to suppress his laughter really hard. As Kai smacked Taemin's shoulder away, Taemin couldn't help but burst out laughing. He was imitating those girls that shamelessly came up to Kai just a few moments ago to praise him and were spazzing about him. "Yah, stop! There were girls doing that to you too! Taemin oppa~ I didn't have a chance to say this before but you're really handsome and so cute~" Kai's voice hit a new octave, trying to imitate those girls confessing to Taemin while Taemin punched his arm playfully. "Yah stop acting, do you think you're cute like that?!" Well secretly though, Taemin did think that Kai was just that little bit cuter than his normal nonchalant self. But no way was he going to admit it!

"Alright class, I have an important announcement to make today, so listen up!" Key announced as the class gathered at the front, his hands firmly planted on both sides of his hips. Being the fashionista he was, of course Key was playing up to Fashion Friday. His muscular yet lean body bore a black long-sleeved cotton sweatshirt with a gold scorpion pinned near the left side of his chest, along with black, loose hiphop pants that had a nice cut to it. Topping it off with a cap plated 'homeboy' at the front, Key's outfit wasn't only super stylish but damn it was comfortable too. "So, listen carefully," Key waved for everyone to settle down as they wondered aloud what was the announcement about, "We, the arts faculty, are going to put up a musical!" Key grinned widely, excited already. "We are going to collaborate with the singing majors for a musical called Dreamcatchers." All the students in the class hooted and cheered, as they were hyped up for the new project which sounded really fresh compared to their usual daily routine of just dancing and choreographing. Taemin joined in the cheers and was really excited for it as he hadn't done anything like it before. Amidst getting excited for the musical, Taemin broke out into a smile facing Kai, wondering how he felt about it. He would probably be excited, no? Taemin frowned as he caught Kai grimacing a little. Does he really not like the idea that much... Taemin pursed his lips but shrugged it off. Maybe Kai didn’t like such complicated projects and stuff?

“Sehunnie! Chanyeollie! Luhan-hyung!” Taemin chirped as he skipped down the hallway, seeing his favourite dongsaeng and hyungs around the corner of the music room. “Aww, look who’s here! My ultimate cutest hyung~” Sehun giggled as he engulfed Taemin in a hug. “Yo, Taemin! And by the way Sehun, I sorta still remember you telling me how no one could beat Luhan’s cuteness just a minute ago in the washroom.” Chanyeol rolled his eyes teasingly at his dongsaeng. Taemin couldn’t help but laugh, finding Sehun’s obsession or as Chanyeol put it, love, with Luhan super cute. Luhan giggled, a tinge of pink visible on his cheeks. “I have to say, you’re definitely the cutest dongsaeng I have! Sehunnnnie~” Sehun blushed so madly, anyone who wasn’t blind could tell he was crazy over Luhan. “H-hyung...you should dye your hair pink! I think it ssuits you better than electric blue, blue is for cool people but pink is for cuter people,” Sehun tried to divert the topic. “Omo, are you calling me uncool?!” Luhan faked a pout, ruffling Sehun’s hair mischievously as he pulled Sehun towards his side. Taemin and Chanyeol could only laugh at the cuteness that was HunHan.

As they talked, the four of them realized that they were going to be in the same musical, the Dreamcatchers musical. Though, auditions had to be taken for major roles. But then again, at least all of them were definitely starring in it, major roles or not. And they’d be able to see each other so often! “Awwyes!!! I’m so happy I’ll get to be with my Chanyeollie Luhannie and Taeminnie altogether~” Sehun chimed, making the others cheer in delight as well. “Don’t forget, Kai too!” Taemin added, hoping Sehun and Luhan would treat his roommate well too. “Dang...but araso, I’ll be good to him for you~” Sehun faked a grimace, but beamed immediately, the cheerful atmosphere getting to him. Taemin grinned. Sehun was going to be nice to Kai, Chanyeol was Kai’s good friend, and Luhan didn’t seem to have a problem with Kai either. Things were going to be fine and so much fun, Taemin beamed as he thought.

Taemin was perched on the top of his bed near the railing, his head popped downwards facing Kai. "Omo Kai, do you like the storyline of the musical Key talked about today? I kinda like it, I think it's so sweet~" Taemin chuckled as he waited for Kai's response. Kai was lying on his bed, arms rested behind his head on his pillow. He smirked as he tilted his head up to look at Taemin. "I guess it sounds sweet to you. About a couple chasing after dreams and finally fulfilling it and whatnot...so typical. You all don't know what people really go through just to be able to get that much closer to their dreams, do you?" Kai scoffed inaudibly as he thought, I bet you don't. Kai's dream was to be a dancer, ever since he was a child. His parents supported him so much and wanted him to succeed, paying for all his uni fees and such which indeed cost a lot. But when the accident happened 5 years ago, Kai lost his strain of hope. Whatever he wanted to do or become, it was so difficult without money or support. Just as he saw his parents catch their last breath in front of his own eyes, his world came crashing down. Like an old bookshelf that suddenly gave way when too many books were piled up on it, times a thousand of it. It wasn't easy for Kai to finally make it here, it was a tough journey that he believed no one actually understood what it really meant to be able to get to your dreams and he felt the organizers of the musical just really took it too lightly. Just as Kai was drowning in his own thoughts, he was cut off by the slightly scornful voice. "You think I don't know?" Taemin rebutted, "I know...what it feels like to finally be able to get close to your dreams after so so much hard work and then to again be threatened to-to give it up..." Taemin's voice trailed off at the end, realizing he'd probably said too much. He wasn't planning on telling anyone about his probable pulling out of the university yet and he hoped Kai wouldn't take notice of it. Not knowing what triggered it, the younger boy suddenly detached himself from under his covers, and climbed up the steps to his hyung's area of the room. He perched himself on the edge of the bed as he spoke. "Taemin ah..." Kai's voice wavered as he remembered what he heard a few nights ago, over Taemin's slightly angsty conversation, "I know...I know what it feels like. I can't really tell you yet, but trust me, I know how it all feels. I...I've been there. And I'd be glad to hear you out anytime, if you have anything you'd wanna talk about, okay?" Kai smiled, and for once Taemin could actually feel the warmth radiating from him. Physical...and some other warmth he couldn't put a finger on where it was from. Taemin couldn't even help but smile back sincerely, as he felt Kai's genuineness. Maybe he would consider telling him about his problem sometime? Afterall he knew Kai would understand...and he was grateful for someone who would. "Omo!" Taemin gasped as Kai's smile turned into a smirk, his hands pushing lightly on Taemin's shoulders, making the elder boy fall lightly onto the blue mattress with himself hovering on top of his hyung. Kai's bangs fell lightly as he supported himself with his arms on either side of Taemin. "Let's sleep together tonight, mmh? I feel so lonely nowadays. I have only Chanyeol as a friend...and you." Kai blushed, smiling sheepishly at Taemin. It was true, though. Kai had little company apart from those who wanted to befriend him just because he was handsome and popular with the girls and stuff but he didn't actually consider those people friends. And he didn't have his family. Chanyeol was the closest person he regarded as a friend...but now there was Taemin. Taemin shifted under the younger boy, blushing madly at the position they were in. "S-Sure-I mean y-yeah o-okay..." Taemin stuttered, shifting over to the left to make space for Kai who retreated to plonk down on the empty space on the right, right next to Taemin. Kai cheekily s his arms around Taemin's waist, making Taemin blush even harder at the contact, as his stomach felt weird sparks. "Goodnight, sleep tight," Kai whispered in Taemin's ear as he chuckled at Taemin's reaction, while reaching over the table to turn off all the switches for the lights.
