Now... How were you going to wrap this?

 

It was a week until Christmas and you were currently trying to figure out how to wrap the difficult gift you got for your best friend, Daehyun. You looked at the clock on your wall as you yawned lightly; it read 1:00am

 

Looking back at his gift, you smiled as you held it in your hands. You got a customized snapback for Daehyun that said "Busan Wonbin" on it and you couldn't help but laugh. Sure, he could get just get any hat he wanted, but you wanted to give him something... Unique; Something that would remind him of you. 

 

Your smile faded as you placed it back on the stained brown coffee table. 

 

The last time Daehyun ever visited you was Christmas last year, when he wasn't on tour. This year, his schedule doubled the tours, which meant he couldn't come by.

 

The thing is, he never texted or called you once after last year's Christmas. You tried calling him many times each month, but sadly, he never answered. 

 

You sat down as you stared at his snapback in front of you. 

 

Did he forget about you? Are you just a little detail in his life that he doesn't care about? ...Has he gotten a girlfriend?

 

Suddenly you covered your cheeks with your hands as your cheeks grew warm with anger. 

 

No, he wouldn't. 

 

You headed straight for bed, not even bothering putting the snapback away. 

 

Tucking yourself in, you slammed your head into your pillow. 

 

You stared into the darkness of your room, the moonlight from the window illuminating your surroundings and sad thoughts.    

 

"Please don't forget about me." you whispered. 

 

As a silent tear rolled down your cheek, you automatically closed your eyes as everything around you became blurry. 

 

More tears began to fell.

(6 days later)

 

 

It's Christmas Eve! And what were you doing? Lying on the couch. 

 

You had already put Daehyun's gift in a Christmas bag and had nothing to do. All of your friends were out with a special someone on Christmas Eve, which left you all alone at home. Of course you didn't want to go with them; who would want to be a third wheeler anyways?

 

You sat up and stared at the coffee table by your side. Alone and nothing to do on Christmas Eve; this is going to be the best Christmas ever. 

 

Suddenly your thoughts were cut off by the doorbell ringing. Placing on your fuzzy slippers, you walked to the door. You didn't hesitate to open the door once you looked through the peep hole and saw the person standing at your doorstep. 

 

Quickly whipping the door open, you flung yourself into his warm and open arms. He was here. 

 

"Daehyun.." You whispered, feeling yourself relieved as you said his name. 

 

He didn't forget about you.

 

“Annyeong (Y/N).”  Daehyun said as he embraced you tightly, resting his chin on your shoulder.

 

As tears rolled down your cheeks, you couldn’t help but burry your face into the crook of his neck, enjoying his presence.

 

“Mianhae,” He said as he ran a hand through your hair lightly, “I couldn’t call you because of our busy tours this year. Plus, we had to be focused on our performances. I feel so stupid-”

 

“Dae,” you whispered into his ear, “it’s okay... Arasso.”

 

Pulling away slightly, you stared at his face as you looked at his features. Nothing had changed since the last time you saw him; he still had the same hypnotic eyes, same stunning smile, just his hair was changed to brown again. You scolded him inside your mind. You already lost count of how many times he coloured his hair and you were worried that his scalp was so stressed because of the constant colouring.

 

Daehyun chuckled as he wiped your tears away with his thumbs, showing his charming eye smile.

 

“It wouldn’t be Christmas without you.” He said, wrapping his arms around your middle.

 

You smiled as you wrapped your arms around his neck, hugging him once more.

 

“Come inside, oppa.”

Throughout the whole evening, the both of you caught up with each other, from life, to everything in between. You finally felt whole again with Daehyun being here, like he was a missing puzzle piece and you were the uncompleted puzzle. 

 

You laughed at the sudden joke that he made as the both of you were sitting on the couch, drinking some tea. 

 

Placing your mug down, you grabbed the gift you got him from behind the couch and placed it on his lap. 

 

Placing his mug as well, Daehyun smiled at you confusingly. 

 

"Merry Christmas oppa." 

 

Looking back from the present to you, Daehyun broke into a laugh as he hugged you into a tight embrace. 

 

"Gowamo." He smiled as he pulled away to stare into your eyes. 

 

You blushed when he looked you as you tucked your hair behind your ear shyly. 

 

As you watched Daehyun open up the gift, you couldn't help but have flashbacks of when you and Daehyun were little and when the both of your families would get together for Christmas. Whenever he would get a present from you, he would always hug you in front of your family and they would always tease about you marrying him. It would always make you embarrassed. 

 

You realized you zoned out too much and watched as Daehyun was adjusting the snapback on his head. 

 

"Thank you (Y/N). I love it so much." He said hugging you again. 

 

You grinned as you hugged him back, "You're welcome." 

 

Pulling away, Daehyun reached into his back pocket, but didn't take his hand back out. You furrowed your brow with confusion. 

 

Daehyun coughed into his fist as the air in the room became awkward and silent. 

 

"(Y/N)? Could y-you turn a-around please?" He stuttered. 

 

You were still confused, but you turned around anyways. 

 

Few moments later, something cold lightly bounced on chest and a click of a chain was heard, surprising you. Looking down, you soon realized it was a silver locket. 

 

Turning around you looked at a nervous and flushed Daehyun, staring the ground. 

 

Picking up the locket, you held it in your hand as the cold of it radiated off. You suddenly noticed  the engraved details in it. The locket was boarded with tiny and precisely engraved snowflakes and you gasped to yourself as you looked at the middle of the locket. Engraved in the middle was Daehyun's name and your name with a small heart in between, completing it like... Like a puzzle. 

 

"Open it." Daehyun said quietly, only enough for you to hear. 

 

Slowly, you opened the locket with your hands gently. You suddenly gasped. 

 

Inside the locket were two photos. One, was you and Daehyun as kids at Christmas time, hugging and smiling. The second, was the photo Daehyun took on his phone. You felt your eyes were getting wet with tears, but continued looking inside the locket. In the second photo, Daehyun had his arm around your shoulders as yours was around his middle. You and Daehyun were smiling when Daehyun took that photo and the both of you were having a great time; It was during last years Christmas. 

 

You placed your hand on your chest, trying to stop the constant pounding inside, but you couldn't.

 

Looking back at Daehyun, you noticed he was twiddling his thumbs in his lap, still looking nervous as before. 

 

Suddenly, you hugged him once more, feeling the tears rushing from your face. 

 

Daehyun was hesitant and froze when he hear you cry, but he embraced you too, rubbing your back comfortably. 

 

"(Y/N), what's wrong?" 

 

Resting your chin on his shoulder, you closed your eyes and sniffled. 

 

"I love it." You whispered. 

 

Daehyun chuckled as he pulled away, showing his stunning smile. 

 

"I hoped you did." he said as you smiled back. 

 

Suddenly, you felt his gentle hand on yours, intertwining his fingers with your fingers. 

 

You looked down on your lap from the subtle contact, feeling your cheeks heat up. 

 

"I'm going to say it straight to you."

 

Looking back up to Daehyun, you watched as he took a deep breath and said,

 

"Every Christmas when we would meet, I would always get nervous around you. You would make my heart flutter by the silliest things. Just when you smile, when you laugh, when you do anything, it would always make me fall harder and harder for you. And now, just seeing you after a year made me realize something; I missed you so much. ...S-saranghae."

 

You didn't even have time to catch your breath; it already gotten taken. He kissed you softly, making your eyes turn wide. But then, you suddenly closed them, kissing him back with the same amount of passion. Your heart began to pound in your chest again, feeling the love and connection between the both of you. 

 

Pulling away earlier than you wanted, you said,

 

"I missed you too. Everyday when I would think about you, I would always think you had forgotten about me. But on Christmas last year, I soon realized, I was in love with you. Daehyun, saranghae, and all I could have ever wished for on Christmas, was you." 

 

Daehyun stared into your eyes, running his hand lightly through you hair. You watched as his small grin turned into a big smile as he kissed you again, caressing your cheeks softly with his hands. 

 

"Merry Christmas." He whispered into your ear. 

 

You smiled, "Merry Christmas."

 

Kissing him back passionately, you soon realized there was something hanging above the both of you. 

 

It was a mistletoe.
