Final Chapter!

It took half an hour after the group of three bid Kyungsoo and Joonmyun goodbye to actually be ready to leave the house and to start the trek that took another half an hour to arrive at the nursery.

Tao whined lightly as they approached the front gate, a whole hour wasted. Glancing around to make sure Minseok wasn’t paying attention to him - happy to see the boy watching a couple of butterflies flitter by -  he pulled back to kick the back of Kris’ left knee, sadistically giggling when the tall boy stumbled slightly and turned to glare at his blonde attacker. Tao just shrugging in reply before gesturing to his wrist (ignoring the lack of watch) and tapping it slowly

“Yes yes I get it, you’re impatient” Kris hissed in reply “But we’re here now so stop being such a ”

The panda-eyed boy rolled his eyes as he grabbed onto Minseok and hoisted him onto his hip 

“Seokkie, point me out your friends and we’ll go over and say hi”

As the toddler raised a pudgy hand to point out the direction of his two best friends a high pitched screech ripped through the small playground

“Baozi, Baozi!” Tao looked around at the familiar Chinese word and felt a small body run into the back of his legs, the unexpected attack catching him off balance and making him fall.

Kris saw the small kid charging towards them when Tao had first picked up his brother for all the playground to see, expecting the collision as the child didn’t show any signs of slowing down as he neared them. As the blonde Chinese boy tumbled towards him, Kris held out both his arms to catch Tao and Minseok, chuckling as he whispered ‘karma’ into his friends ear.

Tao huffed before righting himself and fixing his eyes onto the thing that ran into him. He was greeted with a tiny boy (still taller than Minseok) with fluffy blonde hair and large brown eyes smiling up at the toddler in his arms with his two front teeth missing. Tao held in his fawning squeal in favour for glaring at it

“And who are you?”

The boy ripped his eyes from Minseok and onto Tao, his small face morphing into something with as much ferociousity as a small kitten 

“Who are you? Why are you holding Baozi? You’re not Kyungsoo” He whined and stomped his feet “Hand him over you Ahjussi” He continued, holding out his arms expectedly.

Tao blanched at the attitude of the young kid, ignoring Kris’ snickers and tightening his grip onto Minseok “Who are you calling Ahjussi kid? I’m still young, this is not the skin of an Ahjussi you little sh-“

“Tao. Don’t swear infront of Minseok or his friends” Kris interrupted smacking the boy round the back of his head and pulling Minseok from his arms and into his, letting the boy snuggle into his neck and gently pulling his thumb from his mouth “Don’t your thumb Seokkie, you know Umma doesn’t like it”

“BAOZI! Don’t hug him like that! Come here right now or I won’t play with you today at break” The young boy on the ground stomped his feet again.

Kris felt Minseok hold onto him tighter and shake his head

“I’m sorry, I don’t think Minseok wants to play right now” He told the boy. A wave of panic shooting through him as the blonde boys eyes widened and started to moisten, a quiet whimper escaping his small mouth.

Before either of the two teenagers could console the crying child another toddler came towards them with messy brown hair and cute dimples and quickly wrapped his thin arms around the firsts waist

“Why are you crying Lu-Lu?” He asked in accented Korean, resting his head on the blondes shoulder

“B-because Seokkie won’t come down” The boy - Kris guessing was the Luhan his umma had warned him about earlier - whimpered out, turning his lean body in the boys arms and burrowing his head in the gap between his shoulder and neck “Why does he hate me?”

“He doesn’t hate you silly, Seokkie is probably sleepy” the brown haired boy replied while patting Luhans back.

He pulled away and held out his hand towards Tao, the tall boy currently biting onto his fist to stop himself from fawning over the cute interaction.

“Hello, I’m Yixing, this is Luhan” He gestured to the blonde boy “We’re Seokkie’s best friends”

Tao grabbed the boys hand and Kris could hear the boys internal squeal at how small it was as he lightly pumped it up and down

“Hello Yixing, I’m Tao and this is Kris. We’re dropping Minseok off today”

Lay smiled happily before moving towards Kris and grabbing onto Minseoks ankle, tugging it slightly

“Can you come down now Seokkie? We want to play” Kris smiled as he felt his younger brother pull away from him and struggle to be let down.

He gently lowered the kitten eyed boy to the ground and ruffled his hair, laughing at the large grin Minseok shot at him.

The boy now standing on the ground grabbed Tao’s hand and tugged at it, using his other small fist to gesture for the boy to crouch.

When Tao was finally at the wanted height Minseok wrapped both his arms around his neck and grinned largely at his friends;

“This is Tao-Tao and Kris! They’re my big brothers!” The boy lowered his voice into a whisper and widened his eyes as if he was about to reveal something scandalous “Tao gege isn’t me real brother but I still love him as much as I love Kris hyung”

“He looks like a panda” Luhan whispered, peering in close “Like a really scary panda”

“Yah! Don’t be rude” Tao whined, wrapping his arms around Minseoks waist “Your friends are cruel Seokkie”

Minseok giggled and squeezed the tall boy back before pushing himself away and pulling Kris down as well

“This is Kris hyung, he’s a giant”

Luhan huffed and crossed his arms, staring longingly at both the boys long folded legs

“I’ll be taller than your Kris hyung and Tao gege, I promise And you won’t need anyone but me”

Lay rolled his eyes and grabbed onto Minseoks hand

“You don’t just have to be tall silly, Umma says for a good relationship you need to be e-mot-ion-ally-” The young boy dragged out the unfamiliar word, testing it on his tongue “–stable”

The blonde boy pulled a face and went to grab Minseoks other hand, ignoring the fact it was still encased around Kris’ wrist

“Well my appa says to be a man you have to be tall and strong”

“Well your appa is wrong”

“Well your Umma is wrong”

Tao and Kris were left watching from the sidelines, glancing at each other before laughing quietly and both starting to stand slowly before stepping back, eyes trained on the childish argument.

Minseok was left in between the two toddlers, his face lighted up with a childish grin as his cute giggles carried through the crowded playground.
