“My baby!”

Jessica abruptly stopped when she heard the familiar voice. Tears immediately clouded her eyes even if she hadn’t seen the owner of the voice yet. She turned toward the voice and saw her beloved mother standing a few meters away from her. There were many strands of white hair on her mother’s head. The fine lines in her gentle face had grown more visible and deep. Her father has his arms around her mother. Like her mother, her father looked older. He seemed old and weary. The last time she saw them was two years ago.

Since they got married, Sehun had forbidden her to see her parents and she obeyed that punishment as a sign that she knew that she caused a large mistake. Sehun wanted her to be independent. He wanted her to grow up and mature. He said that it wouldn’t happen if she would still be pampered by her parents.

“Mommy, Daddy!” She ran towards her parents and threw herself into her mother’s arms. She couldn’t help but to cry. She felt the tight embrace of her mother.

“We missed you so much, Sooyeon.” Her parents were the only ones who called her by her real name.

“Stop that, okay? We prepared a mini feast. Let’s go,” her father cut off their dramatic scene.

She distanced her body away from her mother and looked at her dad. He was smiling fondly at her. She knew that he missed her so much. She smiled back.

“Let’s go. I’m starving.” She crinkled her nose.

She turned at her husband who was standing quietly behind her, watching her with her mom and dad. She mouthed a ‘thank you’ and he simply nodded as a response.

They were welcomed by the guests who were having fun at the wide backyard at her parent’s house.
