Letter 5

Letters From A Fangirl

The next day, Myungsoo felt rebellious for some reason. He just wanted to be a bird and fly away from the flock. So that night, at midnight, he managed to slip out of bed without Dongwoo waking up and leave the dorm. All the members were asleep already. Before debut, they would all stay up til 3am talking or watching movies. But now, everyone is too tired to even stay awake for dinner.

Myungsoo pulled the black hood over his head and stuffed his hands in his pockets. The streets weren't busy because it was late. There were only a couple of people walking. He didn't need to worry about any crazy fangirls because even they need to sleep. His midnight stroll stopped when he spotted a cafe right in front of him.

A nice cup of hot chocolate would be nice...

He decided against going inside and started to walk away but then he spotted the one customer inside. He recognized her. His thoughts of leaving totally disappeared as his legs had a mind of their own and he entered the warm cafe. The bell signaled he had walked in and the school boy waiter came up to him.

“You can have a seat anywhere.” he said, not knowing a famous idol was in front of him.

Myungsoo nodded and started to make his way towards the girl.

Once he reached her table, he pulled the chair out and sat down.

She didn't see him walking because she was too busy reading her book and sipping her drink. When she heard the chair scraping the ground, her gaze lifted from the book to the boy in front of her. She almost choked on her drink and Myungsoo chuckled.

Cute.

“You...how...why...huh?” Hye Su stuttered, not knowing what question to ask first.

Myungsoo put his fingers to his lips to shush her as the waiter walked over to him.

“What would you like?”

“I'll have a hot chocolate.”

The waiter nodded before walking off.

“There are so many other times you could come to a cafe and you pick now?” Myungsoo asked, looking around at the empty tables and chairs.

Hye Su couldn't stop staring at him. He's even more beautiful without make up.

“Why do you come here so late?” he asked.

Hye Su snapped out of her trance and shrugged. “It's peaceful. Why are you here so late?”

Because I saw the girl I've been dying to see in here.

“Touche...” he muttered.

Myungsoo watched her as she continued to read her book. He had to admit, girls wearing glasses always made his heart flutter. It was the first time he saw her with them on and he couldn't deny that he felt attracted to her.

It was quiet and awkward as they couldn't think of anything to say. Myungsoo especially. At least Hye Su had an excuse to not sit there looking awkward by reading her book. Myungsoo told himself he was going to find her, but he never thought about what would happen once he did. He was stuck.

“I like your letters.” he spoke up.

Hye Su looked at him and pushed up her glasses.

“You read them?”

“Every single one.”

Hye Su couldn't help but smile, causing Myungsoo's smirking face to fade and turn into a mesmerized one.

“So you must know that...” she stopped.

“Know what?”

“Nevermind.” she looked down, embarrassed and a little ashamed.

“That you love me?”

She nodded slightly.

“It's okay, you're not the first to confess your love for me.”

Hye Su wanted to scream that her love for him was different, but she decided against it. So she just nodded instead, still not believing Kim Myungsoo was right in front of her.

Myungsoo didn't want her to feel uncomfortable about it, so he had to make her feel like she wasn't alone. But he of all people knew that Hye Su's love wasn't the same as any other fan. Somehow...he liked it.

“You know, for a fan, you're actually quite calm.” Myungsoo said, after drinking from his mug and burning his tongue a bit.

“How so?”

“Right now, we're having a conversation and you haven't screamed, touched me, or try to get with me.”

Hye Su chuckled. “Not all fans are like that. I wouldn't gain anything from that. I would fail trying to get with someone like you. Plus, you have gorgeous, perfect girls all around you.”

“Don't say that.” Myungsoo pouted a bit at her negativity.

Hye Su tilted her head.

“Maybe I like imperfection.” That's what Myungsoo was saying, but the only thing he could think about was that the girl in front of him had no imperfections at all.

And, we have the right to date anyone we want to. Idol or fan.”

“What are you implying?”

Myungsoo grinned and was about to reply before his phone rang.

Uh oh...I am in big trouble.

Hye Su winced as she could hear his manager's yelling from the phone. Myungsoo rolled his eyes and muttered a cold, “De,” before hanging up.

“Mianhe, I'd love to chat but I have to go before manager hyung blows up the dorm.” Myungsoo apologized.

She nodded and grabbed her book. “I was just about to leave anyway.” she said and stood up, along with Myungsoo.

She took out her wallet to pay when Myungsoo beat her to it.

“It's okay, I can--”

Myungsoo shook his finger at her and smiled, making her heart beat faster by a mile a minute.

“Have a good evening.” the waiter bowed as they left.

Myungsoo realized they would be parting when Hye Su started to walk the other direction.

He turned around and yelled, “What if I want to see you again?”

She froze and slowly turned around thinking of an answer.

Myungsoo was expecting that she would give him her number so her response caught him off guard.

“See you at Music Bank!” she smiled and waved.

He frowned and ran up to her.

“Let's take a picture.” he suggested.

“Why?” Hye Su asked, shocked at the sudden suggestion.

“Because you're my favorite fan.”

Before she could react, Myungsoo fished out his phone and pulled her close, making his famous blowfish face. In reflex, she put the book to her face, only revealing her eyes behind the thick rimmed glasses.

After taking the picture, Myungsoo looked at the picture and laughed one of his rare laughs.

Hye Su could feel her heart melting.

“Promise me something.” he whispered.

She nodded, biting her lip.

“Send me more letters. I like them.”

Hye Su blinked at him before nodding.

“Okay, I promise.”

They hooked pinkies and their thumbs touched before Myungsoo slowly backed away and walked towards his doom waiting for him at the dorm.

Hye Su watched his retreating back and couldn't help but clutch her heart.

He's making falling in love with an idol harder than it is...

“Kim Myungsoo! Why would you leave so late?! What if something happened to you?!”

“Sorry...”

“Sorry isn't going to--”

They heard a loud thud before Sungyeol's tired voice, “SHUT UP!”

“Hyung...stop. You'll wake everybody else.” Sunggyu said, standing beside their manager.

Woohyun walked out of his room, scratching his head with squinted eyes.

“What happened?”

“He left without permission!” the manager said while walking to his room.

Sunggyu walked passed Woohyun to go back to sleep. He would scold Myungsoo in the morning.

“This late? What time is it?” Woohyun asked, looking around for a clock.

Myungsoo sighed and stood up. He took off his jacket and threw it lazily on the couch before dragging his feet towards his room.

Woohyun was about to go back to sleep when he heard Myungsoo's phone fall out of the jacket pocket. He picked it up to check the time, but when he saw the picture of a girl and his band mate come up, he became curious. It was still in the Camera album, Myungsoo hadn't 'X' out of it yet, so he technically wasn't being nosy.

Woohyun furrowed his eyebrows to get a better look at the girl. He gave up trying to guess who she was so he went into the picture info to see when it was taken.

12:48am

He looked at the current time.

1:23am

So it was recent? He left to meet up with his girl?

He scrolled down more and saw the picture name Myungsoo had given it.

'My Favorite Fan<3'

The first thing that popped in his head was Hye Su. But he convinced himself otherwise because there was no way they could have met up and the Hye Su he knew didn't wear glasses.

“Hyung! What are you doing?” Myungsoo ran up to him and snatched his phone away.

“It's not what it looks like, I was just--”

“We had a rule that no one could look through each other's phones!”

“I was just checking the time.”

Myungsoo furrowed his eyebrows and lifted the phone. When he saw the picture of him and Hye Su, he shook his head at his hyung before walking in his room.

Woohyun knew by the look of his dongsaeng's face that he was pissed.

He sighed and walked back to his room smiling, remembering that the Music Bank performance was tomorrow, or today rather.

He couldn't wait to see his girlfriends, Hye Su more specifically.
