- Chapter IV -

     Proving Her Wrong

"No. Thank. You" Hyoyeon bluntly stated, as she stood up from her seat and walked back to the counter, not giving anyone the chance to yank her back down. "I still have two projects to work on and I don't have time for these silly things." 

"Hey! Where are you going?" Sooyoung called, almost yelling. 

"I'm going to the library" she replied, as she grabbed her books and started heading for the exit. 

Jaejoong glanced back at Yuri, while the girl fixated her gaze towards Sooyoung who was also making a line of eye contact with the other five boys around the table as worry and panic started to envelope them. Their original plan was to reserve a special lunch table at the Kim's eatery starting from the peak hour until the restaurant closes and take the opportunity to ask Hyoyeon out to hang out with them and set their friends up on a date. But with the sudden outburst and rejected invitation Hyoyeon gave back to them at the very last minute, their intention surely flunked down onto the drain of the toilet bowl. Everyone was still in the state of thinking of a back-up plan, carefully analyzing what their next step should be when Yunho suddenly spoke and broke the silence. 

"Where's the nearest library?" he asked.

"Down the stre-" 

Without even letting the girls finish their sentence, Yunho already dashed his way to the exit, with the only thoughts of following one particular girl in his mind. Frantically, he checked every store by the streets, prompty reading every signs until he found his destination. Heaving a sigh, he then pushed through the wooden doors of library building, hoping he went to the right one. 

Hyoyeon tore her gaze away from the book, as she heard a rather obvious cough coming from a near distance only to lock eyes with the peculiar Yunho, who was looking down at her from the carpeted floor she situated herself in as started to dry up again, making her unable to make up any words or sentences out from her lips until seconds after. 

"Are you seriously following me right now?" she asked disinteresingly as she tucked a strand of her lose hair behind her ears and sat on a criss-cross position. 

He let out a chuckle as he braced himself to sit beside her, minding their close distance. "You're funny Kim Hyoyeon-sshi. How can you think that way? Who knows, I might be spending my time in the library as well." 

She rolled her eyes, not quite believing his words. "You're a jock Yunho-sshi. May I remind you, guys like you don't read." she stated, matter-of-factly.

"Why do you think I swtiched from Architecture class to Journalism for?" Yunho smiled as a comfortable feeling crept onto him. "Don't you think that explains my passion for Korean and English literature?" 

"I don't know. It might be some other tactic you guys are using to lure out the girls with your charm like what you're friend Hero is doing to Yuri." she assumed wrongly, noisily flipping the next page of her book as she used it to let out her annoyed mood.

"You know... the swim team might have a reputation of being playboys but that doesn't mean all of us hang around every girl." he tried explaining, gazing at her side profile. "And if you're talking about those clingy cheerleaders and step squad dancers, I just want to let you know that they don't matter to me." 

She scrunched her nose as her eyebrows knitted in confusion. "What are you talking about?" 

"They don't count, if you're the only one I look at." he announced, not caring how corny he sounds at the moment. 

Hyoyeon thought for a moment, contemplating and taking everything he was saying and slowly giving him the benefit of the doubt when Yunho spoke again. 

"Why do you loathe me?" he asked this time.
