"Love in War "

Another week passed for them and it was their bed time already it but SeungHyun is still not sleeping, he was just looking into space and the image of SooYeon rolling her eyes to her and giving her death glares whenever they are accidentally met, upon remembering her also reminds him the chocolate she gave to him

Flashback:

That night after he washed, he immediately went to the tent and settled himself; he got a piece of paper and pen. He opened first the chocolate and get chunk of it, it was sweet and delicious, a smile formed in his lips, as the sweetness of the chocolate reminded him of SooYeon’s sweet smile, and then he started to write

I have been away for a long time already, I miss you and my beloved sister so much, but I need to be away to protect you, although sometimes I can’t stand not to cry when I’m worried if you are okay. Don’t think too much about me, I’m okay. I made friends here. You know how much you mean to me and you are the first woman in my life, then my sister but now I think there would be an addition, I met a girl here name SooYeon, she is the captain’s daughter and a volunteer nurse here. She is pretty, delicate and like sunshine whenever I felt sad. She is kind, she treated us like her own family and I think I fell in love with her in an instance, I hope after this war you can meet her and be part of our family someday. I love you omma~

End of flashback:

“What will I do? Otteoke…” he thought

Then a sudden idea popped into his mind, he stood up from his bed, wears his army jacket and took his gun with him as he slowly went out of the tent, he made his way to the nearby river and sat against a tree facing the river, he watched the moon lighted the whole area, and listened to the soothing flow of the water as she saw a figure slowly made its way to the river, he stood up and point his gun while slowly approaching the person and it was SooYeon

“Are you going to shoot me?” SooYeon asked him without facing him

She just continue to play and made the origami crane float in the water

“Mianhe, I thought you are an intruder…” SeungHyun said as he put down his gun and slowly made his way beside her

They are sitting side by side

“Well, I think I’m too pretty to be an intruder? Don’t you think?” SooYeon asked him all of a sudden

“Neh~” the only thing that SeungHyun said because he was busy to watch and be amazed even in just looking at her side profile

Then SooYeon faced him and SeungHyun looked away

“Do you want to try?” SooYeon asked him as she handed a paper crane to him

“Do you think it’s too dangerous for you since it was night and you are a girl to wander around?” SeungHyun asked her back without taking the paper crane

“There is no difference in night and day time since we are in the war, you never know what will happened…” she said as she made the paper crane that she offer to him float and watch it swim away

“But still its dangerous…you should go back…” SeungHyun still insisted to her

“Are you my father to boss me like that?” SooYeon asked with an annoyed tone and while looking at him angrily

SeungHyun didn’t answered while SooYeon was surprised he didn’t argue with her anymore, he just sat there beside her and shut his mouth

“Mianhe…” SooYeon soften and apologized as she saw him with a sad expression

SooYeon was about to moved closer but SeungHyun stood up

“I will just watch you from a far to keep you safe and until you decided to go back in your tent…” He said as he bowed and went back to the tree, he used to stay a while ago

SeungHyun just watch her from a far, didn’t dare to blink for a second just to keep her safe, then he saw stranger was about to attack SooYeon but he fire his gun that disturbed the whole troop

“Are you okay?” SeungHyun asked as he made his way towards to her

SooYeon was just sitting there motionless and still shock

“Hey? Are you okay?” he asked her again

But she didn’t answered and just pulled her into a hug when he saw her trembling, SooYeon buried herself into his chest and cried in his arms, then a few soldiers went to them

“What happened?” Captain Jong Shin said as he made his way to them

“He is a north soldier…” Dae Sung also a student soldier told them as he check the cadaver

“And what is the meaning of this?” Jong Shin asked SeungHyun and SooYeon who was still in the arms of each other

SeungHyun was about to speak but SooYeon cut him off

“It was my fault…” SooYeon said as she broke the hug and both of them stood up

“Captain Jung, it was my fault…” SooYeon said while lowering her head

In the army, there are no called family ties, because this will just trigger your success once an emotion went in between, so when SooYeon decided to help the army, their father-daughter relationship ended. They are now strangers and allies at the same time

“Well, I decided to play with my paper crane but SeungHyun here was decided to follow me when he saw me and unfortunately an intruder made his way here and was about to attack me and good thing SeungHyun shot him immediately…” SooYeon explained

“Is that true?” JongShin asked SeungHyun with a straight face

“Neh, that’s the truth, Captain Jung…” SooYeon spoke for SeungHyun as she sense that he will deny it

“SooYeon-shi… if you went here to play then you went to a wrong place, this is the army not a playground!!! See what you did, you disturb everyone!!!” JongShin shouted to SooYeon who was just lowered her head

“Mianhe…app..” SooYeon apologized as she held her head up and showed tears to her appa

“YoungBae, don’t give her food for the whole day tomorrow and locked her in the storage room…” JongShin ordered one of the student soldiers

“All of you go back to your tents!!!” JongShin ordered to everyone before he turned his back from SooYeon without looking back to her

JongShin felt his heart was about to explode seeing her daughter cried and punished her but he can’t show his weakness while YoungBae accompany SooYeon in the storage room

“mianhe… SooYeon-shi…” YoungBae apologizes to her as he was about to locked the door from the outside

SooYeon rested her back against the wall near the small window, she curled up herself and rested her head on her knees and cried her heart out

“SooYeon-shi…” someone called her from the outside of the window

“Why are you here?” SooYeon asked him as she wiped her tears

“Just want to sure you are okay…” he said with a comforting tone

“Go back… before they caught you sneak out of your tent…” SooYeon insisted him to go back

“Ani, I told you I’ll protect you right?” SeungHyun said as he settled himself outside of the storage room near the window

“Kashamnida…” SooYeon said as she tears because she was touched

Both people rest their back against the wall while their hands intertwined thru the window

From that moment both of them grew closer but they didn’t show it in front of everyone, when they met they are casual but deep inside of their hearts, love blossoms.

It was afternoon of Sept. 17, the captain give them free time to rest, when they decided to meet in their usual spot, it was near the river where their closeness starts.

“YAH!!! You’re late…” SeungHyun lectured her as she squat down resting her hands on her knees and catch her breath

“Mianhe oppa~ I need to help the unnies to fix the entire medical tent…” she explained while panting

“Kajja!!! “ SeungHyun said while ruffling SooYeon’s hair and before he runs

“YAH!!! OPPA!!!” SooYeon squealed as she chase him

They played and run like little kids in the field, no stress and like they are not in the middle of an upcoming war. They are too absurd in their own little worlds and accompanying and having each other is enough for the both of them

“Aigoo~ that was tiring…” SooYeon complained while sitting down in the field

“Me too. I’m tired.” SeungHyun said as he sat down beside her

They watched the beautiful scenery in front of them: the sunset

“Here…” SeungHyun said as he handed a small flower to her

“Oh!!! Yeopada… “ SooYeon said as she took it from him

SeungHyun smiled seeing how happy she is

“Do I look pretty like this flower?” she asked as she use her aegyo to him

“Nope.” He answered bluntly and without looking at her

Then SooYeon felt kind of disappointed from what he answered, she didn’t know that SeungHyun was just playing a prank on her. SeungHyun noticed that SooYeon become silently. When he looked at her, he caught her making faces on him

“OMO!!! Mianhe!!!” SooYeon apologized before she made a cute pout

Then SeungHyun grabbed her and kissed her in her lips. It was gentle and suave. SooYeon’s heart was pounding abnormally; it was like war started in her heart. She slowly put her arms on his neck, while SeungHyun pulled her closer; closing the gap between them, her petite body is brushed against his broad muscular chest. For them, the kiss felt just right. Then they both let go when they need air. Silence first occurred in them

“SooYeon-ah… saranghe…” SeungHyun finally confessed

From that very moment of SeungHyun’s confession, SooYeon also admitted to feel the same, that’s the time they started their relationship, they keep it as a secret and promised to each other that they live together after the war.

One afternoon SooYeon was helping her unnies in the storage room when JiYong came

“SooYeon, someone is looking for you…” Ga In called her

“Ah. Neh…” she answered as she went out of the storage room

“Hi…” JiYong greeted her shyly

“Oh, JiYong-shi… hello…” she was surprised to see him

“Can you come with me?” he politely asked

“Where? Sorry but I’m helping the unnies…” she apologetically refused

“Please… just for a while…” he pleaded

“Just go SooYeon… but come back immediately…” Hyo Ri told to the two

“Ah, thank you noona…” JiYong shouted happily as he pulled SooYeon , with their hands intertwined and they run

But they didn’t know SeungHyun with other soldiers passed by and saw what happened, he was fuming with jealousy

Then they arrived outside of JiYong’s tent, he went inside for a while while SooYeon waited patiently from the outside

SeungHyun’s was nearby watching them then Jiyong got out hiding something from his back

“Here…” JiYong said as he showed his present

SooYeon was confused from his acts

“Here…” JiYong said as he handed fresh flowers to her that he caught

“Thank you…” she thanked him

Then silence occurred between them, while JiYong was trying to compose himself before he speak

“JiYong-shi, thank you. I need to go back…” she said before she turned around

But JiYong grabbed her wrist

“SooYeon, saranghe…” JiYong confessed with all his might

SooYeon slowly turned around and looked at him, their eyes met and she saw it was sincere, they stay like that for a few minutes, JiYong was waiting for her answer

BANG!!!! A loud shot gun embraces the whole camp

All of the soldiers around including SooYeon and JiYong looked at the place where they heard it

And

They saw SeungHyun pointing his gun into the hanging pots where they use to practice, he was still standing there

SooYeon unknowingly slip JiYong’s hands away from her while still looking at SeungHyun, Jiyong was surprised and hurt to see SooYeon’s face while she was looking at his hyung
