"baby, goodnight..."

 

JIyong’s POV

I was on my way up to my apartment, pulling my luggage behind me, tried to stay up and fighting the jetlag that I’m having. I just came back from my vacation in New York with my girlfriend, as I was near at my door

a familiar figure surprises me, sitting in the ground as she balled up herself and rested her head above her knees while spacing out

“It’s already 2am and you are here?” I caught her attention

She held her head up and diverted her eyes on me while giving me a cute gummy smile, I offered my hand for her to grab to help her stood up, as she was in front of me, she dusted off some dirt from her skirt, I took my apartment keys and opened the door and let her in first before it’s my turn

As we both got inside, she made herself comfortable as she sat on the couch while I dragged my luggage before i set it beside the door

“Tell me what brings you here?” I asked while massaging my temple

“How was New York?” she answered me with a question

“It’s fine… you should come with me next time.” I said as I made my way beside her

She just stays silent and I noticed it in a brief moment

“Yeah, I forgot, you hate New York….” I snapped myself with my late realization

We become silent for a while before she spoke again

“Can I sleep here?” she asked me with her pleading eyes

I looked at her for a while and I saw that she is kind of different today

“Is there any problem?” I asked her again as I looked at her closer

“Nothing.” She simply said as she stood up and went to my room

I let out a long sighed before I followed her in my room

“Seriously, I’m not in the mood to play with your guessing game or whatever.” I said to her playfully as I lay down beside her

Then another silence embraces to both of us and it made me feel upset and worried to her at the same time

“SooYeon, tell me what’s the problem?” I confronted her

But instead of answering me, she went closer and snuggled herself closer to me

“Oppa, mianhe….” She said as she put her head in my shoulder and pulled the blanket to cover us

She is very weird today but I’m tired to deal with her for now, maybe after we woke up

As JiYong woke up from his heavy sleep, He noticed that SooYeon was nowhere to be found, he concluded that may be she went home early and didn’t say goodbye because she didn’t want to disturbed him from his precious sleep. He got up and decided to freshens his self before grabbing his breakfast at the nearest IHOP. As he got his phone he notices tons of messages and calls from his beloved sister, from his mom and SooYeon’s mom, he wondered why as worry tried to climb up in his nerves, did she get into an accident while going home, that’s the least idea he wanted to hear from Yuri as he was waiting her to answer his call, seconds later Yuri answered it with a sorrowful greeting

“Ji?” she started

“Why did you call, omma and auntie too. What happened?” he asked her impatiently

He heard her depressing and long sighed

“You are making me nervous!!! Spill it now!” he shouted in anger

“Oppa, SooYeon…SooYeon…is…” Yuri tired to composed her self

“what? What about SooYeon?” he is now angrier

“SooYeon is gone. She is found dead in her room last 5:03 in the morning by auntie…” she said between her loud cry

“What? You are kidding me, how…” he can’t continue anymore to speak as it finally sinks in him that she is gone, his best friend is gone

He dropped his phone as his knees weaken that made him knelt in the ground, he punch the ground endlessly with all his strength as he grief for SooYeon, she was his best friend and the only person who he knew that will always be with him no matter what but now she is gone, gone forever

This is the day that SooYeon was about to buried, her family, relatives and friends grief for the last time as they were going to say their goodbye to her, while JiYong is expressionless looking only at the sleeping princess inside the white casket wearing a pink dress as her hand intertwine together over her upper abdomen, his tears are all used up, all he can do is just to look at her, he felt a hand touches his hand, he looked to the side and it was Yoona his girlfriend, standing beside him to give him support, but that didn’t help him either, especially they found out from the autopsy occurred that SooYeon drowned herself in sleeping pills and got overdose from it that causes her life to end

But that’s not the only thing that surprises him; they also learn that she dies approximately at 2am the same day he saw her in his apartment, upon realizing that SooYeon visited her that day, if he only knew that was the case maybe, maybe he had something done that makes her least happy, but the real question is why would she commits suicide and that’s for him to find out

His thoughts was disturbed as he heard the cries become louder, it was time to really say goodbye, before the casket was about to close, he stepped forward and embraced the casket as he was giving SooYeon a hug for the last time he will see her

It’s been weeks since he requested to have a leave of absences in his work, his life turn upside down, he was in  a total wreck, the more days he wakes up and realizing that SooYeon is gone, the more he wanted to follow her wherever she is, he didn’t took care of himself anymore, he didn’t eat and always sober himself just to make the pain he is having now, he didn’t contact his family and of course his girlfriend, all he feels now, he also wanted to die to end everything, to be with SooYeon again

He heard knocks on his door and he lazily opens it and to his dismay it was Yoona

“What are you doing here?” he asked her nonchalantly

“I’m worried that’s why I’m here…” she whispered

“don’t need you, I need SooYeon” he carelessly blurted out

Yoona was at the urge of crying but she still tried to act tough in front of him

“How would you recover if you always think of her.” She said as she tried to clean up the mess in his apartment

“just go.” He heartlessly said to her

Yoona dropped the bottles in the floor when he heard him said that

“OPPA! She is gone!!! GONE!!!” Yoona said as he can’t take it anymore

“GO!!! I don’t need you!!! GO!!!” he said as he grabbed Yoona’s arm and dragged her outside of his apartment

Silence filled to them as Yoona was crying and trying to plead to him

“OPPA, even thought sooYeon is gone, you still have me… and I saw this outside your door before I enter” she said as she handed him a light pink envelope and before she go

When JiYong went back to his senses, Yoona is right, he still has her but it’s too late because she was out of sight

He done another mistake, he was total jerk, he tried to call Yoona but she was not answering it that made him decided to went inside and headed to his room

He felt very tried but there is still something that pushes him to read the letter, he laid down in his bed and rested his back on the headboard he let out a sigh before he opened it and it says

JiYong,

Anyeong~ how are you? Maybe when you read this I am gone already. Mianhe. I didn’t plan to leave you, it’s just I wanted to end my pain but I don’t have any idea how will I do it and the only thing I thought would be the best is to sleep forever. You know how much I wanted to sleep it’s because when I’m sleeping I tend to forget the pain even for while and that’s why I refuses to go with you in New York: the city that never sleeps, it because I only get hurt seeing you happy with someone else having a good time walking and held someone else’s hand, in someone else’s arms, in someone else’s heart. I didn’t know when I did realized that I get hurt whenever you are with your girlfriend it’s just happened, I tried to be happy for you but I always got lost with my own heart, but I wanted you to know that I’m still your best friend, the best friend that loves you the most. Goodbye.

Saranghe…

SooYeon

As JiYong read the sentence, he now knows why SooYeon did it and he was so stupid to notice her heart, her feelings towards to her, he felt that his chest tightens; he gripped his chest with the letter and SooYeon in his mind

“We will be together, SooYeon wait for me…” he whispers before he closes his eyes too and passed out as the anti depressing pills he take massively started to attacked him

As JiYong slowly opened his eyes, he saw a familiar figure in front of him as it slowly got clearer and he saw the person he wanted to see all this time

“SooYeon.” He blurted out as he saw her standing beside him wearing a white dress and a crown like baby’s breath is hanging above her head , beside the bed where he was laying

“Oppa…” she weakly muttered

“SooYeon, Is this a dream? If it is I don’t want to wake up anymore, I wanted to sleep beside you forever.” He said even thought he was weak

“It’s not yet your time, oppa.” She said as she got closer

“But I wanted to be with you…” he still insisted

“But there is someone needs you too, you still have your family…”SooYeon answered him calmly

Silence embraces the both of them, then a light peek thru the window, they both noticed it

“It’s time for me to go, oppa…” SooYeon declared

“No, stay with me or take me with you, please…” JiYong pleaded as he grabbed her hand and not letting her go

“oppa, let me go…” she said calmly

“NO!” he still insisted

“oppa, we will see each other soon…” she said that made JiYong let her hand go

JiYong looked at her as tears started to pour out from his eyes “Don’t you love me, SooYeon?”

“No, oppa. I love you with all my heart, and I know you love me too, so please continue your life for me…” she said as she wipes his tears with her thumb

Both of them just looked in each other eyes for the nth time, SooYeon slowly went her head forward against JiYong and planted a long, sweet and last kiss to him

“Saranghe…” JiYong said after their kiss

As SooYeon was near the light, she turned around

“Nado, Saranghe…” she said before she step in the light

In a matter of seconds the light and SooYeon was gone, living the room darker, and JiYong with heavy heart and shedding uncontrollable tears and spoke

“Neh, I will live for you until we saw each other again, SooYeon-ah” he said as he finally let her go
