Kyuhyun didn’t know what to think really. They were back home and things were…still the same…yet not the same? Eunhyuk had become withdrawn and quiet again. It wasn’t that he had talked and laughed and had a ball before, but Eunhyuk’s reaction, or the lack of it at the hospital has given Kyuhyun a little spark of hope, wavering and almost extinguished, yet it was still there, lighting up this guilty heart with optimism and hope that maybe everything was getting better.

But there was no such thing.

Eunhyuk would still confine himself to their bedroom, more so to their bed, to his bed since Kyuhyun slept in the guest room or on the floor while holding Eunhyuks hand when he would sneak in sometimes in the middle of the night when Eunhyuk was sleeping.

Eunhyuk himself had improved a little bit. He was eating more and drinking water more after being told by the doctor that if this continued then he would lose his baby. Kyuhyun remembered how Eunhyuk had protectively wound his arms around his swollen belly and had eyed the doctor with wide eyes. He had then pulled the bowl of hospital food nearer and finished the whole thing even while cringing at the lack of taste of the soup. He had showed the doctor the empty bowl with wide eyes and pouty lips and one would think that they were doing something horrible to the man if it wasn’t for the wellbeing of the mother and his growing baby.

Kyuhyun also saw how Eunhyuk had eyed the tablets he had been given, mild painkillers and vitamins, he remembered. Eunhyuk hated taking tablets, Kyuhyun knew that but he smiled when he saw Eunhyuk wrinkling his nose at the brightly coloured pellets and pop them in his mouth together before gulping down water like a man just out of the dessert. The doctor and Kyuhyun chuckled when they saw how Eunhyuk scrunched his shoulders and shuddered as the pills made its way down his throat. He was like a child, innocent and untainted and Kyuhyun smiled bitterly at how much he had stained that pureness.

His wife. He was his wife. And he vowed to protect him.
