Amy’s POV

“AMY KRISTEN COLLINS!” Cassie, my roommate who had just arrived, yelled.

I gulped. She beckoned to me with one finger and pointed at the kitchen, giving me a stern look.

“Kitchen. Now.” She said, sounding like a drill sergeant. I glanced at Jonghyun. He was looking at Cassie with wide, bewildered eyes. “NOW!” she yelled. I quickly scampered into the kitchen, leaving Jonghyun behind on the couch.

Cassie followed behind me and I could feel her burning a hole into the back of my head. When we entered the kitchen I spun around, backing up slowly.

“Cassie...I can explain.” I said, putting my hands in front of me. Cassie glowered at me.

“Yes, please do. PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY THERE IS A KPOP STAR IN OUR LIVING ROOM!” she whisper-yelled.

I grinned sheepishly. “Well...I didn’t know he was a kpop star until just recently. Din- Jonghyun was lost in the park and didn’t have any way to contact his friends...so...I...um...brought...him...here..? I said, fading at the end due to Cassie slowly stepping towards me.

Cassie glared at me once more before sighing. She ran a hand through her hair, turning to lean on the counter.

“Amy...This isn’t a stray kitten or puppy we’re talking about here. This is a full-grown man! Who just happens to be a part of a popular Korean band with fan across the world! And quite a few scary fans at that! And he can barely speak English, mind you.” She said, giving me an exasperated look.

“Well, I couldn’t just leave him stranded! He seemed so helpless and desperate...It almost broke my heart.” I said, pouting. “And I thought you’d be happy to see him!”

Cassie looked as though she was being ripped apart. “I am...really! It’s not every day that one of your favorite kpop idols shows up in your living room, but we need to get him back to his band before the fangirls find out he’s here and have both of us for breakfast. Is his band coming to pick him up?” she asked.

I pursed my lips, deciding to tell her what I had been contemplating.

“Well…you see…his band is back in California already and they can’t get back for a couple of days…so I was thinking about letting him stay with us.” I said, preparing myself for Cassie’s reaction.

Cassie sighed, but didn’t look surprised. “I was hoping you wouldn’t say that, but it’s written all over your face.” she said.

She turned toward me. She had calmed slightly from the earlier shock and was now back to thinking clearly. Cassie was usually the more responsible of the two of us and reminded me quite a lot of my mother… which was not always a good thing.

“So let me get this straight. He’s stuck here in Texas for a couple of days because his band left him and you want him to stay...here.” she said.

I nodded.” He doesn’t know a lot of English, like you said, and I don’t even know if he has money on him. He’s really sweet and friendly and I don’t want to see him get robbed or even worse- kidnapped by one of those crazy fangirls we were chased by in the park.” I said, giving Cassie a pleading look.

It was true- except I was leaving out the part that I also wanted him to stay here because he was really interesting and I think I was really starting to like him. That moment we had earlier…maybe it meant something. I really want to find out.

Cassie raised her eyebrow at me and smirked. She leaned toward me, putting a hand on her hip.

“I think it’s more than that~. “She said, poking me on the chest.

I blushed fiercely. She always seemed to see right through me. Was I really that much of an open book?

“You’re starting to like him, aren’t you? I mean, I’m used to you bringing in random animals you find on the street, but you’ve never brought in a guy before. Admit it. You’re falling for him!” She teased, grinning at me.

I felt my face heat up even more, spreading to my ears. “S-Shut up! He might hear you! And I don’t know what you’re talking about! I did it out of the kindness of my heart!” I stuttered.

Cassie wiggled her eyebrows at me. “Whatever you say, honey. I saw that moment you guys were having earlier.” She turned, walking out of the kitchen. She chuckled to herself, making a shudder run down my spine.

 I really hope she isn’t planning anything…

Jonghyun looked up nervously as the girls walked back into the room. He had been fiddling with his hands as the girls talked in the kitchen. He had been growing more nervous by the passing minutes. Jonghyun could only catch snippets of their conversation but from what he could tell by their tones, they had decided something.

He gulped as Amy’s roommate approached him. He thought her name was Cassie, from what he could catch in the conversation. He stood up quickly. How would she react? He had heard how she had scolded Amy. He was completely surprised when her determined expression melted into a bright smile. Her face lit up and she reached forward to bow and shake Jonghyun’s hand. Jonghyun quickly did so as well, completely thrown off.

“Hello. My name is Cassandra but my friends call me Cassie. It’s nice to meet you. I’m a big fan of SHINee.” She said in Korean.

Jonghyun’s eyes widened. He remembered Amy had said that her friend spoke a little Korean but it was quite past his expectations.

“Hello. It’s also nice to meet you. Your Korean is so good. Where did you learn it?” he asked. He chuckled when he noticed Amy looking at them with a blank expression.

Cassie smiled. “Thank you! My mother is half-Korean so I learned it from her and my grandmother. “She said.

Jonghyun nodded and smiled at her. He was relieved beyond belief. She was quite the opposite of his expectations, neither a Nazi-like character nor a raving fangirl. Her brown eyes were warm and inviting and her smile lit up her face.

Amy tugged on Cassie sleeve and Cassie murmured something, which Jonghyun guessed was a translation. Cassie turned back to Jonghyun.

“Jonghyun-ssi. Amy told me that you can’t reach your friends and that you need a place to stay. We want to help. Would you like to stay here with us for the next couple of days?” she asked.

Jonghyun’s eyes widened in astonishment. These girls, who he had just met, were really ready to go that far for him? He felt himself warm immediately. The hard, cold feeling in the pit of his stomach dissolved and he felt himself relax. Relief flowed through his system and he felt his eyes fall on Amy. She was beaming at him, her eyes begging him to agree. He smiled.

Well, I don’t really have anywhere else to go. Heck, why not!

“I would love to. Thank you so much.” He said, smiling brightly at the two girls.

Cassie brightened and nodded at Amy. Amy smiled and clapped her hands. Jonghyun chuckled. Amy quickly walked over to Jonghyun and tackled him in a hug. Jonghyun coughed, blushing deeply while staying completely still. He wasn’t really used to open skinship from women even though he was the king of skinship. ..But he didn’t exactly...hate it. He glanced over to Cassie. She had a sly grin on her face and she wiggled her eyebrows at him. Jonghyun blushed even deeper and dropped his gaze. He felt his lips quirk into a smile and his hands slid to hug Amy back.

This is going to be interesting…
