He's My Husband

HE'S NOT STRANGER ANYMORE

Donghae POV

I still couldn’t believe it. Shinhye has proven her words for real. We’re a married couple now.

Are you shock? Yeah. I was shock too. We went to Mr.Park aka Father-in-law to ask his permission soon after we got out from my apartment a week ago. As expected, he accepted me as his son-in-law. He supported us very much to get married as soon as possible. He even cancelled my business in Japan so that I could prepare the wedding.

Since we didn’t have time enough to D-Day, we asked Mr.Park, Eunhyuk, Seohae, including Baekhyun for help. Finally, the wedding ceremony had held successfully this morning. There was no single word could describe how happy I was.

Now, we were sitting peacefully on the plane. After the wedding party had done, we headed to the airport right away. We were going to Japan for… um… our honeymoon. My face blushed. I couldn’t stop smiling by myself. Today is just too perfect for me. And it would be more perfect if someone next to me could smile as well.

I took a glance at Shinhye. She looked so happy at our wedding ceremony. I never saw her as happy as this morning. But, looking at her face now, I thought she had split personality. Somehow, her face looked grim since we arrived at the airport. She would answer coldly whenever I ask her something.

Hm. I thought I knew the reasons why she was acting so weird this time.

“Yah. Lee Shinhye, are you still mad at me? Because of this trip?” I brought myself closer to her.

“You think?” She just looked away through the window.

“Come on. Japan has a lot of cool place! You will not regret it!” I assured her.

She pouted. “London is a cool place too.”

I smiled. I recalled the time when we had argument about our trip destiny.

“So, where are you going for your honeymoon?” Mr.Park asked us. Shinhye and I were sitting across him in the living room. We just had asked his permission to get married.

I blushed. I could tell Shinhye’s face was red as tomatoes too.

“Um. I-I think… we’re going to Japan. I wanna show her my place there,” I told Mr.Park.

“Oh. Good choice.” He nodded his head.

“No! We’re going to London!” Shinhye shouted all of a sudden.

I frowned at her. “I think we’d better go to Japan.”

She shook her head. “No way. We’re going to London. You never have been there, don’t you?”

“Well, I don’t. But it’s too far. Let’s go to Japan! You haven’t been there too, right?” I courage my opinion.

“I have! I went to Japan when I was five years old! I want London!” She won’t lose.

“Japan!”

“London!”

We were glaring at each other. Didn’t she think that London was too far? Plus, I bet the ticket was more expensive too.

“Stop arguing guys. For me, wherever you go, I still support you,” Mr.Park arbitrated us.

“Ne. Thank you, Mr.Park. Shinhye and I will talk about this later.” I bowed.

“Hey. Haven’t I told you to call me Father-in-law?” Mr.Park reminded me.

“Oops. I’m sorry, Mr… I mean Father-in-law.” I smiled shyly.

“Okay guys. I think I should take a nap right now. Have a nice day.” He gave us a smile before he went to his room.

I looked at Shinhye after her father disappeared.

“So, what are we going supposed to do right now?” I asked her.

“Um… Let’s determine our trip destination.”

“I agree with you. How about playing rock, paper, and scissor? The winner will decide our destination,” I suggested.

“No! You know I have bad luck in those kind of game!” She shook her head immediately. “How about playing scrabble?” She came out with another idea.

“Aish. My English skill is not as good as yours!” I rejected it.

She pouted. “Hm… Let me think about it.”

 Shinhye tapped her chin.

”Aha! You know a jajangmyun shop near the bus stop? I heard they held jajangmyun eating competition! Let’s go there!” she said, excited.

I considered her idea. That wasn’t bad at all.

“Okay. Let’s go there.”

*

A super big jajangmyun was placed in front of my face. I took a glance at Shinhye. Her face brightened soon after her bowl came out from the tray. I smiled secretly. She must be love jajangmyun so much.

“Guys, you have to finish these jajangmyun within two minutes. Are you ready?” The owner said as she pulled out a stopwatch from her pocket.

“Yes!” We said together.

“Okay. Ready, set, and go!”

Competition started. I grabbed my chopstick and put this jajangmyun into my mouth as fast as I can. I ate like I was starving for a week. My mouth filled with jajangmyun.

“One minute remaining.” The owner said.

What?? One minute left already? I kept peeking at Shinhye. She was eating very fast! If I ate like I was starving for a week, she would eat like she was starving for a year. I gulped. Omo. Am I really going to marry this girl? She was no joke!

I turned back to my jajangmyun. I won’t lose from her! I had gentleman dignity! What’s world would say if I loose from a girl?

I put a lot of jajangmyun into my mouth and gulped it at once without chewing it. I just hope my digestive system could work properly later.

“Three. Two. One. Done!” The competition ended.

I put down my chopstick. Yeah! I succeed! I proud to see my bowl was empty. Thanks to my big mouth. I glanced at Shinhye’s. A bit jajangmyun was left in her bowl. I smiled widely. I won this competition, right?

“Congratulation, Mister. You win. We’ll give you a voucher for free.” The owner handed me a voucher.

“ Ah, thank you very much.” I bowed to the owner. She bowed back and then left.

“Are you happy, huh?” She crossed her hands in front of her chest with taunted face.

“Of course I’m happy. Japan, here we come!” I spread out my hands. Shinhye just rolled her eyes.

*

“How was it? Japan is amazing, right?” I asked her once we headed to my apartment by a taxi. We just arrived at Tokyo.

“Not really,” she said. She didn’t bother to look at me. Ha. I knew you were lying, Mrs.Lee. I had been watching you from the moment we got out from the airport. You just couldn’t take your eyes off the view outside.

“Sir, please stop in front of that building,” I told the driver in Japanese as I pointed a big building two blocks away.

The taxi stopped. Shinhye and I got out, taking our suitcase and we were heading to my place.

“TADA!” I exclaimed after I opened the door.

Shinhye came in first. She looked around my living room. “Hm. Not bad.” She mumbled.

I smiled. “Do you like it? Our new home?”

She turned to me. “O-our new home? We will live here? I thought we were just being here for a month.” She looked surprised.

“Yeah. We gonna have vacation for a month, and then we will back to Korea to pick up all the things before we live here. Why? You don’t like it?” I asked. I was worried she would dislike this place.

“It’s not like that. I mean, we’re going to live in Japan? Not Korea?” she asked carefully.

I knew what her means. I gave her a weak smile. “Since your father trust me to manage our Japan branch company, I think we have to live here.”

Her face turned sad. “How about Appa? We can’t leave him alone. You know Baekhyun will debut soon. He can’t stay in my home any longer.”

“You’re right. But your father told me to bring you here.”

Shinhye’s eyes began teary. I hugged her right away. She leaned on my shoulder.

“Don’t worry. I’ll try to discuss this with him later. I hope he can allow me to move back to Korea. Okay?” I wiped her tears with my thumb.

She looked up, seeing my face. “Thanks.” I kissed her forehead.

“Anytime. By the way, don’t you feel tired? Let’s take a nap first,” I suggested.

“Can we just walk around Tokyo? It’s still 3 pm though,” she asked.

“Let’s just do it later, okay? We still have 30 days to explore Japan,” I reminded her.

“Okay.” She nodded. I took her hands and leaded her to my bedroom.

*

I opened my eyes slowly. I moved a bit and found Shinhye in my arms. I smiled looking at her. She was always beautiful in anytime. Even when she was drooling as now. This drooling girl just like a goddess. I’m so happy because I can have her in my arms every day from now on.

Not long after, she twisted her body. She opened her eyes slowly. I could tell she was already full awake. Once our eyes met, she was stunned.

“KYAAA!!! Why are you in my bed??” Shinhye pushed me away so hard until I fell down from the bed. Not just pushing me away, she even hit me with some pillows.

“Yah, did you get amnesia?? I’m your husband now!” I explained, trying to dodge her pillows attack.

She stopped attacking me. She blinked. “Oh yeah. We’re married now.”

Shinhye held out her hands to me. She helped me to get out.

“I’m sorry. Hehe.” She grinned.

“Just for your information, this is not the first time we sleep together. You should get used yourself to wake up next to me from now on.”

“Ne.” She kept her grin. “Hey. What time is it?”

I looked my watch. “6 pm.”

“Omo. We slept for 3 hours! We wasted our 3 precious hours for vacation!” She tapped his forehead. “Lee Donghae, let’s walk around here!”

I glanced at my desk. There are many documents and papers placed on there. It was getting increased since I left my business here. I thought I should finish them all.

“Um. I’m afraid I can’t. Look at my desk.” I pointed my desk. “I have to work on my documents.”

“What? Are you working in our vacation?” Her jaw dropped.

“I have to.” I said as I walked towards my desk. I sat down in front of it and took some documents.

She approached me. She put her hands on hips. “I follow your will to go to Japan. At least, you should take me for a walk.”

“I know. But we still have tomorrow and the next thirty days right? Let me work, please. These are so important.” I started working on one of documents.

Suddenly, she grabbed some papers in front of me and tossed it to the floor.

“Are these documents more important than me??” she whined.

Many papers scattered on the floor. All of them were my business reports. Hey. Why did she need to do that? I had dizzy enough to face these work. She made me even dizzier because of her act.

“Yah! Are you out of your mind?? What if my documents get dirty??” I snapped her. I squatted to collect my papers then.

“I don’t care!” she snapped back, glaring at me.

I sighed. “You know, Park Shinhye? I think we should consider about our marriage before we got married. Both of us are too selfish. We still need time to understand each other.”

She was taken aback. “Do you regret marrying me?”

I was shocked. She must be misunderstood about me.

“No! It’s not like that! I’m just…” My words cut off.

“You’re so rude, Lee Donghae! I hate you!” Before I knew, she had left with teary eyes.

BLAM! The door closed hard behind her. She went to nowhere.

I was stunned for several minutes. You’re so stupid, Lee Donghae. She left to nowhere because of you. She had no idea about Japan at all. What if she got lost?

I grabbed my coat and went out.

Shinhye POV

I walked slowly along an unknown street. Many shops lined up on my right and left side. This street was crowded with people. I had asked some people about this street’s name but all of them couldn’t speak English. Aish. I couldn’t believe my foot brought me here. This street is far enough from Donghae’s place.

I sighed. I thought today is my best day but I was wrong. Today, my husband dumped me and I got lost in Japan. So great, huh?

Now, I was so tired to walk again. Fortunately, there was a bench in front of a coffee shop near me. I took a seat.

A young couple passed by. They wore a couple t-shirt. The man wore a shirt with the words ‘husband’ while the woman wore ‘wife’. Were they newlywed couple too? Ah, I envy them. If my husband could just choose me over his work, I thought we could be like them.

I lowered my head. My eyes began teary again.

“You know, Park Shinhye? I think we should consider about our marriage before we got married. Both of us are too selfish. We still need time to understand each other.”

His words were so hurtful. I had never been this depressed. He would call me Lee Shinhye or Mrs.Lee after we got married. But he called me ‘Park Shinhye’ earlier. He even didn’t prevent me to go. Was he really going to divorce me? I couldn’t believe he did it in our first day of being a married couple. He often doubts my love but he was the one who didn’t love me.

“What am I going supposed to do now?” I muttered.

I had no idea about the street so I couldn’t back to Donghae’s place. Should I call Appa? I d my pocket but I found nothing. Aish. My cellphone must be left in Donghae’s bedroom. I was panicked. Omo. What should I do? God, please help me!

“Thanks God I found you!” A familiar voice came out all of a sudden.

I looked up to see my husband was standing in front of me. My eyes widened. How did he get here?

“Lee Donghae? How could you find me here?” I asked in amazement. He pulled me into his arms.

“Our fate brought me here.” He smiled. He tightened his hug and kissed the top of my head two times.

Warm feeling spread over my body all of a sudden. I closed my eyes to enjoy this feeling.

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry,” he apologized repeatedly. He rubbed my back gently.

My heart softened for a while, but then his hurtful words replayed on my mind.

“Don’t touch me.” I let go of his arms although the warmness went out of my body.

“Why? Have I told you lately that I’m very sorry?” Donghae asked, confused.

“You want us divorce, right?” I replied sadly.

Donghae was shocked. He looked at me horrified. “Yah! Don’t talk nonsense! I won’t and I will never divorce you!”

“But you said that we should consider our marriage!” I yelled.

“Okay, I admit I was wrong. Please forgive me. You know I love you so much,” Donghae convinced me.

“Prove it to me,” I said calmly.

“Fine! Wait here.” He left me and walked towards the zebra cross in front of us. When he reached center, he stopped and facing to my side. Wait. What he gonna do? Well, the traffic light was showing red light. But it would turn out to be green in 58 seconds!

“I LOVE MY WIFE FOREVER! I LOVE LEE SHINHYE FOREVER! ALTHOUGH SHE’S ANNOYING SOMETIMES AND NOT ROMANTIC!” He shouted. All people in the street looked at him. Omo. It was embarrassing so much. But I admit he was cool and sweet. A wide smile curved on my face. I couldn’t help but running to him.

Finally, I stood in front of him, panting.

“I love you too, my husband,” I said before my lips reached him. We kissed in the middle of zebra cross.

We broke the kiss right after the traffic light turned out to green.

“Watch out!” Donghae pulled me closer to him. He protected me from all moving vehicles. Some vehicles honked the horn and some people cursed us. We were just giggling.

“They must be thought that we are crazy people,” I told him once we arrived at roadside.

Donghae chuckled. “Yeah. We’re crazy because of love.” I chuckled.

Now, we were walking hand in hand to his apartment.

“Lee Shinhye, can you allow me to finish my works? Don’t worry, it just for tonight. I promise I will accompany you to everywhere after that. Ne?” Donghae asked me with pleading eyes.

I pouted. “Okay okay. Just do what you want.”

“Thank you so much!” Donghae beamed. He leaned to me and gave a peck to my lips.

I couldn’t help but smile. I slipped my hand in his arm as I put my head on his shoulder. “I wish you could stop working.”

Donghae chuckled. “How can we survive if I’m not working? We need money to live.”

“If I got you I don’t need money, I don’t need cars, you’re my all.” I started being cheesy.

“Wow. Your words are touching my heart. But I guess it was Chris Brown’s song.”

“Hehe.” I grinned.

“I’m sorry, Mrs.Lee. Either you like it or not, I will keep working. Our children need diapers and go to school. We can’t make it without money.”

I looked up to him. “Yeah. You’re right. You need to work hard for our children, Yeobo.”

“Y-yeobo?” he asked in disbelief.

“Eo. Let’s calling each other  with ‘yeobo’. We’re married anyway.”

Donghae smiled to me and I smiled back. We kept smiling each other as we were holding hands.

From now on, the person next to me… he’s not stranger anymore. He’s my husband, my love, and my life.

We were strangers starting out on our journey

Never dreaming what we'd have to go through

Now here we are and I'm suddenly standing

At the beginning with you
