Running in Circles

Love Complications

Minho was standing under a tree near the building when you stepped outside.  He didn't seem to notice your appearance because he was too involved in some game he was playing on his phone.  His eyebrows were furrowed in deep concentration and he was biting his lower lip as he tilted his phone in various directions.

You figured he was probably playing some racing game.

You didn't make an attempt to interrupt him, preferring rather to just stand and watch him.  He would occasionally flip his hair to try and get his bangs out of his eyes.  You couldn't help but smile softly as you watched him, and you couldn't help but giggle when he started jumping up and down while fist pumping the air when he won.  It was around this time when he finally looked up and saw you standing on the stairs.  He grinned and trotted over to you.

"How was class?" he asked, putting his phone away.

You resonded with a shrug, stuffing you hands into your pockets and starting to walk.  "Fine".  You were starting down the hill towards the front of the campus, but Minho grabbed you by the arm and swung you around to walk in the opposite direction.

"H-hey, what are you doing?  We have to go down the hill to leave, not up it," you told him as you stumbled a bit.  You looked down at his hand on your arm and blushed a little.

He smirked and taped you lightly on the nose causing your blush to deepen.

"Someone obviously forgot that track starts today."

You let out a long groan when you realized he was right.  You had remembered yesterday that you had track practice today, but somehow you managed to forget to pack a change of clothes this morning.  You chalked your forgetfulness up to be the result of your anxiety for your first day of school.  You facepalmed and shook your head.

"I knew I'd be right," he chuckled.

As you were looking down you noticed that Minho had a bag slung across his shoulder.  He caught you looking.

"They're our clothes," he responded simply.

"Our?"

"I figured you would forget that we had practice today.  No offense, but sometimes you don't have the best memory," you scoffed but he continued by motioning toward the bag.  "I brought you clothes.  They might be a little big considering they're mine, but it's better than nothing," he concluded as he resumed dragging you up the hill.

"So you want me to wear your clothes?"  Just the thought made you giddy.  You wanted to giggle like a school girl, but you restrained yourself.

Minho sort of shrugged and the two of you kept walking.

~*~

There weren't a lot of people up at the stadium when you arrived.  You'd been here yesterday and had been absolutely floored at the grandure of the stadium.  Everything about it was new, from the all-weather track, to the stadium seating, to the locker rooms, and turf field.

Oh yeah, you loved it.

After getting your clothes from Minho you headed to the locker rooms.  You hadn't seen them yesterday and you were more than a bit shocked and awed when you walked in.  It had multiple flat screen TV's, luxurious couches, flowering plants...it was amazing, expecially for a locker room!  The place even smelled strongly of lavender and had soft music playing.

Best. Locker. Room. EVER!

Once you'd changed, and taken a few pictures of the place to send to your parents back home, you headed up to the field. Minho's clothes weren't too big on you.  The shorts might have been a tad bit long than ones you'd normally wear, but they stayed above your knees.  The shirt was a little big, but fine other than that.  You rolled the sleeves up on it.  You send a text to Dongwoon informing him that you'd be going to tack practice and that you couldn't go home with him.  When you reached the field you saw a group of athletes, Minho included, already there.  He waved you over as the group when to sit in the stands to hear the coache's speech.

Coach Jung talked for a good twenty minutes about what he expected from everybody and explained what the plans were for this year and blah, blah, blah.  You started tuning him out about half way through his schpeel.  The other girls however, were giving him their complete attention. Did they care about what their coach was saying? Nope.  Why were they listening?  Because he was incredibly handsome.  He was young, well built, and had a pretty adorable beauty mark on the top left side of his lip.  Sure you thought he was good looking too, but you only cared about Minho.  As he continued to talk you looked at the faces of your fellow athletes trying to see if you could spot anyone you knew.

As you looked around you spotted Sulli.  She was a few rows down with her back to you.  As if she felt you staring at her, she turned around and smiled at you.

Coach Jung's first instructions were for everyone to take a mile around the track as warm up.  All the guys were the first to leave while the girls stayed back  and tried to talk to him.

Minho had gone ahead with the rest of the guys while you caught up with Sulli.  You two weren't part of the crowd around the coach and set off before the rest of the girls.

"So, Jung Yunho..." Sulli said. "You aren't infatuated with him?"

You shook your head.  "Two reasons: One, I already have someone I'm interested in, and two, he's our coach.  He may be young, but there's still a bit of an ," you chuckled.  "You don't have the hots for him?"

Sulli shook her head.  "No.  Like you, I've got someone who I'm interested in," she said looking at the ground.

"Oooh, who is it?" you inquired with a chesire cat grin.  You poked her side and she almost ran onto the turf field.

"Yah, no poking! I'm sensitive," she giggled.

"Haha, sorry.  So, does this guy go to our school?"

"No."

"How'd you meet him?"

"I volunteered at this place over the summer and I met him there. What about you? Does the guy you like go here?"

"Hmm, I don't know," you said with a smile.

"Nu-uh, not fair!  I told you so you have to tell me!" she whined.

"I'm kidding," you joked. "Yeah, he goes here."

"Was he that guy you were with before lunch?"

"Who? Oh, you mean Dongwoon? No, we're just friends," you said quickly.

Sulli thought for a moment.  It was starting to get a bit difficult to run and talk at the same time.

"Is he on this team?"

You stumbled a bit.

"I'll take that as a yes then!  You were sitting next to that Minho guy weren't you?  I bet that's him!"

"Am I that obvious or are you just that good?"

"Mmm, a little of both I think."

The two of you exchanged a look and laughed.

"How long have you known him?"

"I met him last year when went to the same high school."

"Nice.  I think you've got a good chance," she said encouraginly.

You shook your head.  "I don't know.  I mean, we're friends, but sometimes he does things that a normal friend wouldn't.  Sometimes he looks at me differently and says things that could be interpreted in a bunch of different ways.  Sometimes I think that he likes me, but then I think he could just be being a really good friend. Ugh, it's confusing."

I wish there was a simple way to know whether or not he likes me as more than a friend! And now there's this other girl who's suppose to be in the picture. Why is this so complicated?! I feel like I'm running in circles trying to get this guy to like me.

Sulli gave you a reassuring pat on the back.  "Guys can be so confusing."

The two of you stopped talking after that since it was taking a lot of your much needed breath.  After everyone had finished their mile, Coach Jung had everyone stretch and do drills.  Today was suppose to be a light day so for the rest of the practice he partnered everyone up to do various exercises.  Much to your delight, you were paired with Minho.  You were planning on asking him about the rumor you had heard earlier about him leaving campus with some girl.

You started off by doing exercies with a medicine ball.  This exercise called for your complete attention so you wouldn't end up getting hit in the face by a 1o pound ball. When you starting doing sit-ups you decided to ask him about it.

You held his feet in place while he started.  The proximity of your faces when he sat up was enough to make you blush and look off to the side.  You weren't sure if Minho noticed, but he seemed to be getting closer and closer each time he came up.  To distract yourself you decided to ask what'd been on your mind.

"S-so, uh, how come you had to miss lunch?"  I hope I don't sound creepy or jealous.

"Huh?" he asked, sitting up and looking at you.

"Y-you know, why you had to cancel our lunch.  Not that it's important or anything, but I was just curious..."

"Oh.  About that," he said looking up at the stands, a slight smile playing across his lips.  "That actually has something to do with what I've been meaning to tell you since you got back."

You cocked your head to one side.

Minho inhaled deeply before letting it out slowly.  "Jazmine.  You know you're one of my closest friends right?" he asked, looking you squarely in the eyes.

You gulped and nodded slowly.

"You know that I really value your opinion more than anyone else's right?"

You nodded again.  For some reason your stomach was beginning to twist in an uncomfortable manner.

"Well, there's this girl.  I met her over the summer and she's beautiful and funny and just...amazing!  She makes me feel things that I've never felt before and I'm happy every moment I'm with her.  I only found out today that she goes to this school and she insisted that I go out and have lunch with her.  I'm sorry I cancled on you, but I just wanted to let you know why."

You were so shocked that you couldn't even say anything.  You felt as if you had just been stabbed repeatedly in the heart.  Every word he had just spoken felt like a razor sharp blade being plunged into your chest.  You were in complete disbelief.  It was as if your entire world had just come crashing down.  All of the things that Minho had done that you thought had been hinting toward something more than friendship...you'd just been deluding yourself.  He'd never looked at you as anything more than a friend, and it hurt.  It hurt so bad.  Mere words weren't enough to describe this feeling you were having.

Minho wasn't finished though.  He grabbed both of your hands and squeezed them.  "Jazmine, I'm not sure what love is, but I can't think of any other explanation for the way I feel when I'm around her. I...I think I'm in love with her."

A/N:  It's been a few weeks since I updated so here it is! Do you like how I threw in Yunho? He's in another story I'm currently writing.  I haven't posted it yet, but it's going to be full of action and espionage! Tao's in it along with 3 solo artists,  and 1 member of B.A.P.  I only have one chapter finished right now and it's been hard to write lately because I don't have as much free time.  This is the story of my life though right now.

I honestly should be >< Oh, and did you hear that EXO finally finished work on their new album?!! They seriously need to hurry up with that comeback!

Bye <3
