"You are the light to my tunnel, the lighthouse to my ship at sea, the fire to my loins—"

"Enough, Chanyeol. I get it."

a. Light in the time of darkness... literally

"Kris, are you sure this is the right way? I don't know, this shortcut seems a little... dingy," Minseok asked as the twelve members made their way down the dark alley that Kris had kindly pointed out for them, questioning their leader's decision to take a shortcut back to the dorms.

"Relax, guys! What are you so nervous for?" Kris glanced around at the members who were huddled in groups and burst out into laughter. They looked up, bewildered.

"What, don't you guys trust me?" He chuckled.

Junmyeon and Kyungsoo exchanged a look that clearly said no but Kris didn't see it. He sauntered down the alley confidently and the members followed swiftly, one after another, not wanting to be left behind in a place like this. They passed the last streetlamp and were now plunged into total darkness.

"I can't even see my hand! This is so creepy," a voice, presumably Tao, cried.

"Ow! Someone stepped on me!" Someone yelled shrilly. A few muffled apologies were heard although nobody actually knew whether they were responsible. 

"Who are you?"

"I'm Jongin, can't you recognise my voice?" The latter said, offended.

The members then looked at each other (or attempted to, since they couldn't really see anything) and tried to find the culprit.

"Anyway, wasn't me," Luhan declared. Everyone ignored him.

"Baekhyun, can't you use your light to make this place a little brighter?" Junmyeon suggested. A burst of white light shot out from Baekhyun's entire body. The members sighed in relief as they were able to see what was around them again. 

"You know if we got found out, the consequences are going to be disastrous, right?" Baekhyun remarked casually. He'd considered using his superpower when they got into the alley, but he was worried about the consequences. Now since their leader requested him to do so, he had no reason to object.

"To tell the truth, I don't really care. I just want to go home." Jongdae, who had been quiet throughout, suddenly spoke up. Ten other heads nodded vehemently in agreement, with the exception of Kris'.

"What? Don't you guys think this is such an exciting adventure?" Kris asked, feigning innocence. He let out a 'oomph' when he felt someone kick him.

"Who did it?" He demanded. No one bothered to reply. 

"What if there are robbers, or even worse, serial killers here? We'll never make it back alive!" Tao cried out. Then to the horror of the rest, he started sniffling.

"Shh, Tao-ah, it's okay," Junmyeon went towards him and squeezed his hand. He started rubbing soothing circles on his back, and the members all kept their distance respectfully, giving the mother and son their privacy. Tao quietened down after a while, burying his head in Junmyeon's shoulder. 

"Do you hear that?" Kyungsoo interjected. The members stilled and Kris was about to dismiss Kyungsoo as being paranoid when all of them heard it. The sound of quiet footsteps. They hurriedly looked around but couldn't see anyone around. The footsteps resounded, even louder than before.

", run!" Chanyeol shrieked, and no further instructions were needed for the members to take to their heels, sprinting at top speed down the alley. Someone let out a scream—it sounded suspiciously like Kris. 

They ran all the way till the end of the alley, and slowed as the hustle and bustle of Seoul's traffic greeted them, indicating their return to safety. "I see our dorm now," Yixing heaved a sigh of relief. The members also visibly relaxed.

"Thanks, Baekhyun. No thanks to you, Kris," Minseok said, giving Kris a dirty look.

"What?" Kris shrugged innocently. Everyone simultaneously rolled their eyes.

b. Prank-proof

"Hey, Jongin, come here," the maknae said from the sofa. He had something akin to an evil glint in his eyes.

"What?" Jongin asked cautiously. He sat down beside Sehun but carefully kept his distance, in case his mischief was directed towards him.

Sehun noticed Jongin's apprehension and laughed. "Relax, I'm not gonna do anything to you. Do you see Baekhyun-hyung showering?"

Jongin craned his head towards the general direction of their bathroom and confirmed that indeed, it was Baekhyun showering inside. Sehun leaned close and whispered something into Jongin's ear, and the mouth of the latter twisted upwards in a grin. They nodded at each other and tiptoed over to the bathroom. Jongdae saw and raised an eyebrow at their antics, but didn't bother to question them.

They positioned themselves carefully outside the bathroom, poised to take action at any moment. Sehun waited for a while before mouthing "one, two, three" and with a gust of wind, the lights in the bathroom were out, leaving it in a state of pitch black darkness.

"Who the did this? Chanyeol, it's you, isn't it?" came the angry voice from inside. The real perpetrators, meanwhile, had long escaped to the safe confines of their bedrooms and were obnoxiously sniggering at the unfortunate demise of their hyung.

"Why is it so quiet? Shouldn't he be yelling for someone to turn the lights on for him?" Jongin asked after no more sound was heard. Sehun was curious as well. They groaned in annoyance when they went out to investigate and glimpsed a soft, glowing light emanating from the bathroom—they had forgotten that Baekhyun had the power of light. Mission failed.

"Chanyeol, I will end you later, I swear," Baekhyun seethed when he was done showering. Sehun and Jongin took one look at each other and cracked a smile. At least their hyung would be getting the brunt of it.

c. Cause of insomnia (and nightmares) in the dorm

Apparently, Baekhyun's revenge on Chanyeol consisted of straddling him when he went into the bedroom, and things inevitably got heated up. This was also the reason why Sehun and Jongin began to regret their actions.

"I swear, I'm never gonna pull another prank on Baekhyun-hyung in my life," Sehun said solemnly, wearing earphones with the music turned up to full blast to drown out the noises coming from the bedroom.

"I can hear your music from here! You'll become deaf, you know," Junmyeon yelled.

"Even better, at least I won't be able to hear such traumatising noise anymore," Sehun replied, full of sarcasm.

The members really hate it when Baekhyun and Chanyeol have . Not only because of the grossness and mental trauma of just thinking about it, but also the terrifying fact that Baekhyun glows—worse, in different colours—whenever he's aroused, and that's not something that the members care very much to know.

The members could still pretend to ignore the little sparks of light coming from Baekhyun's room, but when they gradually built up into magnificent swirling light that bathed the dorm in colours of the rainbow, they could stay silent no longer. Moreover, the two weren't exactly considerate about their noise level, either. 

Kyungsoo, upon hearing the not-so-subtle (read: disgustingly loud) moans coming from their bedroom, winced. "Seriously guys, could you keep it down? I don't want a special lights display in front of my eyes."

"There are minors present!" Tao coughed from the living room, but the entire dorm was still swathed in different coloured lights, much like an aurora borealis. It was admittedly pretty, but none of the members wanted to be reminded of the connotation behind it.

"I don't think they heard us," Jongdae said matter-of-factly. "They seem rather engrossed, if you know what I mean."

"We can't sleep!" Luhan complained, hiding under his blankets. "Do you know how valuable my beauty sleep is? You're ruining my million-dollar complexion!"

All the members' complaints were to no avail. It was no surprise that many of them suffered from insomnia that night.

The next day, Yixing kicked Baekhyun and Chanyeol in the shins the first thing in the morning.

"Ow! What was that for?" Baekhyun complained, rubbing the spot on his leg where Yixing had kicked him.

"I had nightmares," the latter explained. Jongdae's annoying laughter could be heard all the way in the living room.
