To The Moon

Chanyeol and Baekhyun are at what looks like a fair, or carnival of some sort. Little stalls line the top of the cliff, a seemingly empty space on a regular day.

Lights flash around the edges of some stalls, while others have piles of fruit and vegetables towering before the bustling rows of people, intent on shopping and some fun.

“How about I look around, you can have a break,” Chanyeol tells Baekhyun.

“No, it’s OK.”

Baekhyun notices the lighthouse hasn’t been built yet. Instead, a small park bench sits at the edge of the cliff off to the side.

This is forgotten, however, by most of the crowd. Baekhyun finds Sehun standing in front of a stall of one of your usual carnival games.

The atmosphere is lively. Junmyeon pokes Sehun playfully from behind as Sehun throws small, blue rubber balls to hit cans off a table, in the hops of winning something.

“No fair!” Sehun shouts at his brother.

“Hey, look! It worked, see? You hit them all!” Junmyeon grins back.

The owner of the stall smiles at the pair.

“You’ve won this!” he says excitedly.

The man hands over a small stuffed teddy bear, and Sehun hugs it to his chest.

“What do you say to the man?” Sehun’s mother asks.

“Thank you!” Sehun gives the owner a wide smile. The man turns to Junmyeon.

“Would you like a try, son?” he asks.

Junmyeon gives a nod.

“Yes please!”

Junmyeon manages to hit all of the cans over on his first throw, and the stall’s owner claps enthusiastically.

“Here’s your prize, kid!”

Junmyeon is handed a soccer ball, and Sehun immediately becomes jealous.

“I wanted that soccer ball!” Sehun throws a tantrum. His mother rolls her eyes.

“Sehun, manners!”

The man has a look under the tables to see if he’s got a second soccer ball to swap with Sehun, but he’s all out.

“I’m sorry, that was my last one,” he says.

Sehun pouts.

Junmyeon looks at his younger brother, giving his shoulder a squeeze.

“Don’t worry, Sehun. We can share.”

Sehun doesn’t look convinced.

“Thank you, sir.” Junmyeon tells the stall owner, before running of to chase his brother down the dirt pathway.

“What cute children you have!” The man tells Sehun’s mother. She gives him a small smile before walking off to find the boys.

“Sehun was a bit of a brat,” Chanyeol tells Baekhyun. Baekhyun gives a small nod.

“Kids will be kids.”

Once Sehun’s mother catches up with the two, she leads her children off to a food stall. Small butterfly cupcakes and an assortment of biscuits line the table. She orders a coffee, finds a seat, and watches as her boys run around tiredly.

“Mother, may I go and play with the other kids?” Sehun asks.

“Okay, but don’t run too far, and don’t do anything too dangerous!” she responds.

Sehun picks up his bag and makes a run for the highest point of the area, the cliff. He almost trips a couple of times, jumping across a log over a small stream.

“Way to listen to your mother’s instructions!” Chanyeol growls as he follows along, almost falling in.

Baekhyun giggles, grabbing onto Chanyeol’s waist to steady him.

“As I said, kids will be kids.”

Chanyeol takes Baekhyun’s hand in his as they follow the boy, pushing through shrubs and bushes along a rocky garden path. It’s one they’ve ventured many times before, at least in Sehun’s memories.

“It’s beautiful…” Baekhyun sighs as he finds himself finally at the top of the cliff, his eyes scanning the scenery. It’s almost dark, but the sun still casts warm hues over the ocean, the water glowing yellow, orange and red under it’s gaze.

Sehun makes his way over to a bench, sitting down. He looks down and sighs to himself.

Soon, however, he is quick to find he’s not quite alone, as the sky darkens overhead. Stars begin to come into focus, and a full moon dominates the sky, casting a pale glow over the earth.

A small boy sits on the edge of the seat, looking over at him. He gets up to leave, but Sehun pulls his arm anxiously.

“Don’t go…” Sehun mumbles.

“My name’s Sehun, what’s yours?” he asks.

The boy looks at him but continues his way down the cliff.

“You’re in my spot.”

“Your spot?” Sehun shuffles and takes the boy’s hand.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t know it was your spot, I’m sorry to come here and take over! I can go if you want me to…” Sehun looks down at the ground sadly.

The other boy studies him carefully.

“Stay…” Sehun grins, leading the boy over to the park bench. It’s a little old and worn, but Sehun takes off his jacket and lays it down so that the pair won’t get splinters.

“Are you here to watch the stars?”

Sehun nods.

“Are you?”

The other boy smiles.

The pair sit down, and Baekhyun can’t help but let out a mewl of discontent. This is not what he wanted.

“For such a thing…” Baekhyun cuts himself off.

“Look at them all,” Sehun points up to the sky. “There’s just so many…”

Sehun thinks for a moment.

“You said this was your spot…?”

“Only during the carnival.” Sehun gives him a knowing smile.

“Not a fan of the crowds?”

The smaller boy shakes his head.

“You know… you still haven’t told me your name yet…” Sehun says pointedly. The other sighs.

“I’m not telling you.”

Sehun turns and stares at him expectantly.

“Why not?”

“Everyone makes fun of it in school,” he replies.

“Why? Well… it can’t be worse than Sehun… its such a boring name… lots of people have my name!”

The smaller boy sighs.

“What’s wrong with that?”

Sehun looks at him confused.

“What’s wrong with having a name like everyone else?”

Sehun sighs.

“It’s… boring I guess. If everyone has it, then what's the point?”

“I wouldn’t mind…” the other boy says.

“Just for once… to have the same name everyone else has. It’s like those lights in the sky… stars… They all look the same from here, but that doesn’t make them any less pretty.”

“Eh… I suppose.” Sehun looks like he’s embarrassed, running a hand through his hair.

Chapter 20: :) I really liked it! Though there were tiny details that you missed, it was still very nice! You should watch Cryaotic's and CinnamonToastKen's playthroughs of the game! I also secretly wished that Chanyeol needed the medication, and that it was included, but oh well. Great job!!!!!

I saw the title and read the little snippet of the description available, and I FREAKED OUT because it reminded me of the game. And that was where you got the idea. I already love it and I haven't started it yet. :)
