Chapter 9- Would you like butter with that?

******

(Sooyoung POV)

"Two bowls of seafood trio," I placed the two pastas in front of the couple on the table. "Enjoy your meal." I smiled.

"Wow! It looks delicious," the man passed me a dollar bill." "Enjoy your day miss."

"Thank you!" I beamed and held the wrinkly dollar in my hand and stuffed it inside of my trouser pocket.

Holding my tray underneath my arm, I walked back to the kitchen. Along my way, I took a glance at the fancy wall clock to my left. 11:15 p.m.

Jesus... Lunch hour time.

An hour later, as the clock strikes 12 in the afternoon, seas of people were filled in the restaurant. People were chatting inside as they devour their pastas, Mediterranean dishes, and our specialty, pear sparkling water.

Lunch hour always made me ticked off. Most people (snobby rich pigs) expect us to be perfect, glamorous, and rich. Well if you want to eat at such a "glorious" place, there's something called traveling to a la France or Spain for their exotic foods.

After I was done serving multiples of customers, I sneaked out into the locker for waitresses/waiters, hiding a bulky package inside of my pocket. After making sure no one was inside, I sat down on the bench and started unwrapping the package.

When it was finally unwrapped, I munched on a salmon croissant sandwich that my friend who works in the kitchen made for me. Despite having breakfast, my stomach was grumbling more than ever.

Oh my god Junho. The smokiness of the fresh salmon from the Alaska waters was overcoming my senses. I swear. You need to be promoted as chef. Your foods are always delicious!

Before I could finish my lunch, a girl banged the door open, causing me to jump out of my skin and scream in shock. "Wae?!"

"Sooyoung unnie! There you are!" a tall girl like me, Sulli, rushed over to my side and grabbed my arm. "You need to come out and help us!"

"How did you find me?" I growled. Although I was so relieved that it wasn't manager oppa, I still didn't want anyone to find me sneaking!

"Unnie, everyone knows that you would come here during lunch rush," she rolled her eyes. "But we never report it to manager oppa because we don't want to get scolded from the "Hellish Choi"."

"Damn right you don't want me to scold you. I would kill you if you even try!" I tried to pull my arm back, slightly annoyed. "What is even the problem Sulli? You need more service because there are too many people?"

"Aniyo, it's one of the customers!" Sulli frowned. "She has been rejecting every dish we served! And she won't leave until she gets the perfect dish!"

"What? Who's this woman?" I raised my eyebrow.

"Our highest paying customer, Jessica Jung."

Bitterness grew inside of me. Of course it would only be her!

"Show me where she is," I demanded. “Now."

Sulli brought me outside of the locker room. Together, she guided me through the restaurant, passing through tables which the people were eating comfortably. I couldn't find that Jung until we reached upstairs.

"There she is unnie." She pointed at the middle but I didn't need her help. I already found her due to the amount of nervous waiters and waitresses around her.

"What is this? Cucumber in my chef salad?" Jessica picked out the vegetable and dropped it on her bread plate with a disgusted face. “Since when did this salad changed?"

"It's-It's a new addition to our salad," our newest waiter, Taemin, stuttered. "Ever since chef changed it, more people enjoyed it."

"Enjoyed it? Well I don't," Jessica scoffed and pushed the salad plate to Taemin. "Could you please take this away and just give me lobster pasta now?"

"Ne-Ne!" Taemin rushed downstairs.

"Make sure it's fresh! Or else I'll call Siwon!" Jessica turned over to the other waiters and waitresses. "You forgot this-"

Ugh! Jessica! You stupid Jung! I shook my head when I was glancing at her behind a pillar. Why are you doing this to us? Me? What are you? A food critic?

"See Sooyoung?" Sulli said as she popped out from her hiding spot behind my back. "What do we do?"

"Leave it to me."

My words must have made her off-track because when I went downstairs, she stayed frozen behind a pillar. Meanwhile, anger was surging inside me more than ever. I always get so stress and angry around that bimbo.

Once I was in the first floor, I went through the double sided wooden doors on the far right side. Although the restaurant inside itself was delicate and gentle, the kitchens were crazy and hot like hell.

"Where are the noodles right now? And watch out for that lobster!" The chef yelled as he was stirring the noodles in a pan. "And make sure to taste the sauce before you serve it!"

"Yes chef!" They all responded back strongly, all concentrating on their parts to create an amazing dish.

I looked around in the vast kitchen to find Taemin grabbing the pasta from the serving counter. Controlled by my anger, I marched my way through the hot and steamy dishes, pushing away the cooks.

"Hey watch out!"
"What are you doing?"
"Hm? Finally here to help?"
"Aish..."

"Sooyoung-ah!" Junho looked up from his dish washing station, widening his eyes at my fiery appearance. "What are you doing?"

"Helping a friend!" I simply replied, pushing my good friend out of the way.

"Taemin-ah! Stop right there!" I yelled at him when he was carrying the pasta towards the doors.

He stopped in his footsteps and looked over his shoulder, giving me his uneasy expression. "Noona-"

"Don't you dare serve this to her."

"But noona! She's threatening me that she will call manger hyung to fire me!"

"Leave it to me! Aigoo, you are still new. I don't want you to lose your job because of her." I took the plate from his hands and rushed off to the back of the kitchen.

"Noona! What are you doing?" he yelled, grabbing attention from others cooks at me, the waitress.

"She deserves to have the freshest lobster." I said, reaching the water tanks that held many different types of sea delicacies.

"YAH! Sooyoung noona!"

But it was too late. Without rolling up my sleeve, I grabbed the biggest lobster out of the water. Clutching its tail tightly in my palm, I strode over to the double- sided doors, pushing it open with my legs.

All the remarks and yelling that was in my ear disappeared quickly once I exit out of the kitchen. Ignoring the weird looks from the customers, I kept my straight face on and stomped upstairs. The waitresses that were coming downstairs with their tray jumped and shrieked at the sight of the giant lobster, some even dropped their plates and glasses as they ran away.

Once I made it upstairs, I went straight over to Jessica, who had her eyes widened.

"Hey Jung!" I called out her name. "You order something fresh?"

She tried to talk but no words came out of . I smirked at her expression, enjoying the terrified look on her face.

"Here's a pound of lobster for you! Our fresh special!" I slammed the pasta bowl on the table and shook the lobster right up close in her face.

She shrieked, "Stop it!" She batted her hands in front of her face while squealing, trying to scoot her chair back away from the lobster. "It's scaring me!"

"Just like how you scared these waiters and waitresses!" I retorted. "If you want to eat at such a perfect place, then go to an even fancier restaurant! We will not accept your behavior here!" I yelled. "Aigoo, you are really spoiled huh?"

"Hey! I'm not that type of person-"

Breathing hard after my yelling, I dropped the live lobster back on top of her pasta, silencing her words. "Oh yeah, would like some butter for your lobster too?"

Giving her one last glare, I blew my front bangs that fell down from my bun and walked past by the gawking people. They all stared at me while I sent a wink to my waiters and waitresses friends, walking down causally through the restaurant to the locker room as the background music began to play one of Yirumu’s songs. Once I was inside the locker room, I resumed myself back to eating, munching on the salmon sandwich peacefully.

Oh god… Maybe I was being too nasty to her… But that girl deserved a payback for sending me to anger management classes! I sighed. What is her problem? Does she seriously likes to ruin my life? I mean come on... I can't handle this and Yoona at the same time! Aish!

(Jessica POV)

Meanwhile…

While other waiters and waitresses were apologizing to me what Sooyoung had done to me, I sat on my chair unmoving. I only stared at the large lobster that was sitting nicely on top of the pasta; its claws were banded with a strong blue band.

I just wanted to see you. I heard that you are always fetched to situations like this when there’s something wrong with somebody’s orders. Was my acting…too much? Or do you really hate me?

After a couple of minutes, I slapped myself in the face.

“Jessica!” Siwon, the manager, rushed over to me with his panicked face. “Are you alright? Did Sooyoung tried to harm you? I swear, I think I should fire that woman!”

“No! I mean…don’t fire her because of this,” I took a deep breath and started to gather my purse. “I was being hard on your workers today oppa.”

The waiters and waitresses all took a step back when I stood up, pushing the chair back. “Mianhae everyone… I made a very stupid mistake. I’m a fool.” I bowed towards them.

After my bow, I looked up to see their faces. The men and women workers looked uneasy. Heaving a sigh, I took out my wallet from my purse.
“Here,” I said when I placed 35 dollars in the middle of the table. “This is a tip for everyone. Thank you for the lunch.”

As I walked out of the restaurant, I heard abruptions of yelling and Siwon trying to control his workers. Breathing in the warm air, I muttered to myself over and over again on how stupid I was today.
