Chapter 4- Unique meets Unordinary

*****

(Yoona POV)

"Yoona-ssi? Is there something wrong?"

I almost jumped at her voice, calling out my name. She was looking at me with a worried face.

"Uh... Nothing is wrong Yuri-ssi!" I said, shaking my head to snap out of my mind. "I was just...umm... daydreaming!"

Daydreaming? Really Yoona? What an obvious answer...

"Oh. Well daydreams are wonderful right?" Yuri surprisingly chuckled and nodded cutely. "Anyways, are you ready to fill out an application?"

"A-p-plica-t-ion?" I felt panic seeping into my cluttered mind. "What is that?"

"Mwo? You don't know what that is?" Yuri widened her gorgeous brown eyes. "It's a paper that tells me about yourself and why you wanted a job."

Application? Oh! I almost forgot! It was in my guide earlier today! Stupid Yoona... Now I made a fool out of myself.

"Oh an application! I know that!" I started to laugh, hoping to ease my little EMBRASSING moment. "I'm ready to take it."

"Great!" Yuri smiled. "Stay right there! I'll be back!"

Minutes later, I was sitting at an antique-looking table with a fresh neat paper in front of me. I grabbed the crooked wooden pencil off to the side and lifted it in mid-air. I took a deep breath and averted my eyes to the first question.

1) First name and Last name.

Last name? I raised my eyebrows. I never had a last name before though...In fact, I don't think any angels ever had a last name before.

Hesitantly, I took a glance at my surroundings, hoping for any hints I could use for my new last name on Earth. But at last, no hope. What chance did I have to find a common last name here in a place full of exotic plants and flowers with complicated names?

Aish, I'll just tell her later. I told myself. Quickly, I scribbled on my first words on the piece of paper.

Yoona (윤아)

That was pretty easy. I smiled to myself, admiring my handwork. And now for the rest of them-

But I dropped my mouth wide open at the next few questions. As soon as I looked over to the new questions, my brain collapsed at some of the confusing words.

Address? Phone number? E-mail? What the heck are they!?

"Aigoo...This is nuts!" I scratched my head and shook my hair in frustration. "No, you have to fill out the form!" I palmed my hand against my face, taking a deep breath out.

"Yoona-ssi? Are you sure you're okay?"

I immediately froze at the sweet-sultry voice of hers. I dropped my pencil in my right hand and slowly crooked my head over my shoulder. Yuri was standing behind me with the same worried eyes from earlier.

"Uh... No! No! Everything is alright!" I said unintelligently, couldn't snap out of her worried eyes. "I just had a... small headache that's all." I lied, giving her a slight nod with a small smile. "It's really annoying especially if I tried to concentrate really hard with my brain."

I turned my back around to the paper again, picking up the pencil where I last dropped it and continued on answering some tough questions. From my guide earlier, it is impossible for angels to become sick. If I said I’m sick up in the heavens, every angel knows that I was just playing around.

"You are sick today?" Yuri came behind my back and went in front of me. She gave me a frown. "Why didn't you tell me earlier? Aigoo... You poor girl." She clicked her tongue. "Don't worry! I'll make you some tea that will cure your headache!"

"Wait! You don't have to-" But Yuri was already rushing upstairs, leaving me alone in the room full of beautiful flowers.

Few moments later, Yuri quickly came back with a steaming mug of a fresh herby scented-tea. She placed it right in front of me, pushing it a little towards my body.

"I hope you like herbal tea Yoona-ssi." Yuri said, waving her hand over the mug to cool it down. "It's good for your headache and migraines and it is also homemade from me!" She smiled. "It is very healthy too!"

I chuckled and thank her kindness but I also laughed at her extreme care for cooling down my hot tea with her peculiar fanning skills. Her lips were pinched together with her eyes looked fully concentrated on the small cup just for a girl like me.

"I like herbal tea." I smiled, reaching my arm towards the baby blue ceramic mug. "I make them all the time back at my home. I practically live in a forest."

"Really? That's amazing!" Yuri awed at me after she reeled back her arm back at her side. "So you are from countryside right?"

"Uh... Sure." I nodded slowly. What the heck is countryside? I need to ask Sooyoung-unnie.

After my unsure answer, I clasped my hand around the warm cup, lifting it up to my lips and inhaling the soothing scent of herbs.

I slowly tipped the cup down towards my mouth, anticipating on what ingredients she has added. Seconds later, warm liquid was flowing down in my mouth and through my dry throat, filling in the empty warmness I was missing inside of my body.

I have to say, for a human, she has chosen pretty good ingredients for healing headaches. The mixture of the spicy-kicking lavender with the soothing fruity chamomile herb and the savory rosemary with the dash of assorted mints all blended together to turn this drink into an unordinary medicinal drink.

"Wow!" I exclaimed after swallowing the lukewarm brew. "This herb tea is amazing! Almost like magic!"

"Aish, I wouldn't say it is like magic." Yuri blushed a bit, making my heart flutter. "But thank you!" She smiled. "I'll leave you alone to finish your application. I hope your headache is better."

She then left me at the table and went back to her plants, probably tending them some more. I took another gulp of her savory herby drink, inhaling the odd combination of herbs and flowers.  I continued on answering random questions on the paper.

During our moment of silence, I would keep peeking at Yuri while I was scribbling more useless info into the paper. I was a bit paranoid from the mystic sounds; the wall clock was ticking loudly between us with my noisy scribbles filling in the awkward silence.

Whenever I found a very difficult question to answer, I took a peek at Yuri to see what she was doing. This time, she was watering her growing plants by the windows, humming sweetly to an unknown melody. Her melodic voice was low but in a way, it's similar on how a golden-colored honey would swirl around in big slow circles, teasing you slowly with its tempting-looking taste. Her voice was so unique that I couldn't compare her to even a singing bird; to me, she is a different kind of bird on Earth, one of a kind.

Wow... I stared at her longer. Why is this girl attracting me so much with only her voice? The sounds coming out of is so silvery, mellow and clear. I wish the music coming out of my mouth sounds as enchanting like hers.

Yah! Yoona! Do not accept this job just because she is beautiful! A thought instantly struck through my head, crashing my thinking and causing me to be awake from my wonderful dream. You need this job for money and to check for any sins on Earth!

I moved my eyes  back onto the frustrating paper, willing myself again to not turn around to stare at her longer. But as the questions got harder and more difficult to answer, the only thing I could think of in my head was Yuri.

Don't glance. Don't glance. Don't glance. I repeated those words in my mind, even closing my eyes so I wouldn't see her in my plain line of sight. But Yuri's humming was so alluring, so tempting like the song of a siren that I had to take one last peek at her. Shifting my eyes over, I was looking closely at her physique. Yuri was wearing a pair of dark blue jeans with a plaid light-green blouse over her white tank-top. Unlike the sophisticated fashion Jessica was wearing earlier, she was wearing a common wear for average humans.

I was about to move my eyes back until I saw her moving towards the glass window where a bright sunset far away was illuminating softly. With each move she makes, she would occasionally comb her bangs back, almost how a mermaid would to flirt dangerously with a group of clueless sailor men. Her light brown skin was glowing under the incandescent plum rays from the setting sun, making me shocked of how her beautiful tan skin turns her into a bronze goddess.

What am I doing? I mentally want to slap myself. You are slacking off your work now just to stare at this human!

This time, I took a deep breath and slammed my fist down with a pencil in my hand. I am going to finish this no matter what!

As fast as a wind angel, I was moving my right hand on the paper rapidly, writing out my long essay for the last question. Unlike others, this one was very easy to answer.

"I'm done!" I said, lifting up my paper in the air. I couldn't help but to smile big, feeling proud of my handwriting on the little piece of paper.

"Awesome!" Yuri replied, and began to walk towards me. I pushed my chair back and stand up, walking over to her as I passed the form into her hands. "Thank you for applying here! It really means a lot to me."

I bowed. "Your store seems really special Yuri-ssi." I smiled, taking another glance at her lovely store. "When do I start working?"

"Tomorrow." She answered, looking into my eyes with her twinkly brown ones. "You can arrive tomorrow at 2:00 pm."

"Great!" I said, taking a hold of my bag's strap. "I'll see you tomorrow then!"

"Goodbye Yoona-ssi! Have a great night" Yuri waved and opened the door for me, ringing the silver bells above us. I bid my goodbyes to her and walked outside. Turning back, I continued to wave and watch her smiling face until she carefully closed the door, cutting off from our close interaction.

Whew! That was close! I sighed in relief. But why was I so stiff around her when the people that I met today are perfectly normal to me. They are from the same race but why did I feel so fluttery and happy from Yuri?

I took a breath, which turned out to be a big mistake. I scrunched my face at the strange air; it's that awful pungent smell again coming from the black roads again.

Well what should I do now? I thought.

With nothing on my mind, I walked to my right down the street, mumbling and cursing the horrible screeching sounds and the nauseous smells again. I continued to mentally scowl anything in my sight that disgusts me.

But that girl... Yuri. She entered my mind again. From that quaint little shop, I did not expect to meet such an interesting person. Her presence was enough to even match with the angels in my home.

From out of all the humans from their vast numbers, this girl entranced me the most.

"Wait! I have to use a cell-phone to talk to Sooyoung!" I blurted out randomly, quickly erasing Yuri from my mind. I surprised the other humans who were walking down the same path with me with my abrupt yelling as my hands quickly shot straight to my bag to look for this cellphone.

"What does a cellphone even look like?"

(Yuri POV)

I flipped the hanging sign on the front door from open to close. Pacing around my scented floor, I turned off the lights in my store and climbed upstairs, sighing after a long hard day of work.

"My arms..." I groaned as I rolled my shoulders back. I stretched my arms behind my back and held it there as I continued upstairs.

Reaching at the top of the stairs, I opened the creaky wooden door. Once I entered, I flicked on the light switch which caused the ceiling light to blink rapidly but settled quickly, brightening up my humble home.

My little home above my store was okay. I only had a living room with a bathroom and a very small kitchen. Not what every college girl wish for but I like it anyways.

I yawned loudly as I lazily slumped down to my mattress bed in my living room, grabbing out the papers that a girl earlier gave to me. "Cha, let's learn about you Miss Yoona-ssi."

But one thing that caught me off track was the missing information boxes on the paper. "She has no last name?" I pondered at the missing blanks. "Hey! She didn't fill out her address and her phone number too!"

I quickly scanned down among some questionable blanks, raising more of my suspicions of this girl. "Did she really live in the countryside for her whole life?" I questioned myself.

While I was quickly checking some areas, I found an interesting large amount of writing for the last question. Bringing the paper closer to my eyes, I began to read her handwriting.

Why do you want to work in this flower shop?

I want to help you giving out flowers to people as gift of happiness for them to keep or to share. This store is the most impressive so far. I can tell from your flowers' scent that you don't use the poison liquid that kills bugs. Yet, your flowers are still in a perfect condition. You take really good care of them Yuri. The flowers even wanted to pay their compliments through me to you.

"Giving flowers to other as a gift of happiness?" I read over the words again, chucking to myself. "Is she trying to copy me now?"

"What does she mean by saying the flowers wanted to give me a compliment?" I yawned again, my eyes were getting droopy. "She is such an unusual girl for her age."

I placed the application form on the floor next to me and stood up again to switch off the lights. Once the lights were off, I took off my plaid blouse, leaving my white tank-top on and changed my jeans to my gray sweatpants. I settled myself onto my mattress bed, snuggling myself under the old worn out pink fluffy blanket I had bought from a thrift shop.

I closed my eyes and brought my arms around to hug my big pillow on my head. Before I dived inside of my world of dreams, I saw her inside of my black world; she was smiling at me with her big innocent eyes like a deer, the same face expression she had on when she first arrived in my store. I could still remember her long fawn-colored hair with her pale skin glowing like a pearl. She looked very gentle and feminine with her simple elegant clothing, but her voice and personality is very odd unlike other girls. Even if she seems strange, her fresh beauty cannot be compare like others.

Just... What kind of a girl are you?
