Meeting you.

Finding you.

Kai had only knew Jung Ah for nearly five days and they were already close as if they knew each other since ever. They haven't even met up or saw each other yet, but they were still close.

Despite they only knew each other for five days and despite they haven't met each other yet, Kai was slowly developing feelings for this girl.

When Jung Ah asked how Kai's day was randomly, it made Kai smile, it made his day. Just knowing that 'someone' cares, makes him happy.

And that's what Jung Ah does. Makes Kai happy.

But however, after knowing Jung Ah for nearly five days and talking to her over the phone, Kai had found out that she was a very optimistic, bubbly and lively girl. Kai liked that about her, it made him forget about his difficult teen years.

Although, it wasn't long until Kai met up with Jung Ah, which was during EXO's break and they 'never' get breaks. It's usually work, work, work for EXO, being very popular in Asia, but for once they actually got a break. Most of EXO were going to visit their families and whatnot, but since Kai didn't have any (except for the imaginary, made up one that SM entertainment  whipped up to cover up Kai's lonely past) Kai was going to stay at the EXO dorm alone, 'apparently being at his parent's house' - which was the lie Kai made up to his EXO K friends.

EXO's time off lasted for nearly two weeks, I mean, wow. That's a lot of time to spend with your family. But for Kai, it was just stay at the dorm. Alone.

Sure, he was fine with it, he was used to it really. But actually having friends now and being with them since what seemed like forever, made him feel more lonely when they were all gone.

...

It was the very first day of their time off when Kai met up with Jung Ah...

----

Kai paced up and down the street randomly with his many layers of disguise (from the fangirls) as he talked to Jung Ah on his phone, trying to look for her.

"Where are you?" Kai asked, he managed to dodge everybody on the busy street swiftly, as he was used to the active, busy streets and crowds of the city.

Unlike Jung Ah who wasn't used to it and was bumping into everybody. "Ah...I don't know..." she said, "So sorry, ajjusshi!" Kai heard her apologise to someone. Kai laughed at her over the phone.

"As you can see, I'm not from around here," Jung Ah said, she and Kai laughed together on the phone.

Kai was distracted from the people around him, causing him to collide into another person. He and the person whom he clashed into, was now on the ground. Kai kneeled up, "Oh no! I'm so sorry!" he noticed the other person's phone on the floor, next to his.

He picked up the person's phone, he noticed the screen:

Phone Conversation: 5 minutes, 10 seconds

Conversation with: Kai/Jong In

He looked up with widened eyes glistening with hope, "Jung Ah?" He looked up to see a girl fallen on the ground, she looked up at him with her hair covering her face. She brushed her hair away from her face revealing a cute, pretty girl smiling. "Kai?" she said.

A smile grew on Kai's face, "Hello." he replied, he picked up both of their mobiles and stood up, he helped Jung Ah up as well.

Jung Ah thanked and bowed to him, "Anneyeonghaseyo, Kai-sshi! I've been looking forward to meeting you after all these years!" she greeted him happily. "Anneyeonghaseyo, I've been also looking forward to meeting you too!" Kai politely replied and bowed.

Jung Ah flashed another smile before asking, "So where should we go?"

Kai scratched his head, "Hmm, I don't know...Haha, we didn't really think this through even though we were planning to meet for over a week." he chuckled unenthusiastically. He then noticed the bleeding cuts and grazes on Jung Ah's hands and elbows. "Jung Ah..." he said, "You have cuts on your hands." he pointed out.

"Hm?" she put her hands up and examine them. "Naah, they're fine!" she said.

Kai shook his head in disagreement, "No, they're not." he grabbed her wrist and started to drag her to his dorm which was not that far away. "Come, let's go to my dorm." he turned his head to Jung ah and grinned at her.

She raised an eyebrow, "Okay then, but tell me why you're wearing a million and one layers. I know it's winter but don't go overboard." she laughed. Kai frowned slightly, *Does she not know who I am?* he thought, but then answered back to Jung Ah that he was being 'prepared' with his load of layers.

They arrived to the EXO dorm in no time as they raced each other childishly. Jung Ah ran up the stairs with Kai not far behind her, "Are you proud that you're being beat by a girl?" Jung Ah called out.

"Who said that I was being beat by a girl?" Kai asked, he caught up with Jung Ah and was soon ahead of her by meters. They laughed together as they raced to the EXO dorm, Kai felt like he was having the time of his life. And he was only running up the stairs, which he kind of does once in a while with the other EXO members. But for some reason with Jung Ah, Kai feels differently.

He panted as he got to the door to his dorm, "We're..here.." he unlocked the door and swung the door open. Kai waited until Jung Ah caught up with him and when she did, he lead her in and closed the door behind them both.

"Wow, your apartment is very big!" Jung Ah acknowledged, "Do you keep this apartment all to yourself then?" she asked.

Kai shook his head, "No, I share it with 5 other people," he said whilst unravelling his thick scarf around his neck, revealing his covered face.

"Wow!" Jung Ah exclaimed suddenly, she stared at Kai.

"Huh? Is there something wrong?" Kai asked, he stopped taking off his (what seemed like) million and one overcoats, scarfs and jackets.

"Nothing...it's just that..you are very good looking!" Jung Ah said, Kai blushed at such a compliment.

Sure, he read loads of comments about how handsome he was on EXO's Youtube videos and online by fangirls, and he was always flattered. But this time it seemed different for some reason; his cheeks were even a rosy red somehow.

*You're pretty too...* Kai could only compliment Jung Ah in his imagination.

"Why do you cover up your face so much?" Jung Ah asked, admiring Kai thoughtfully.

Kai took off his last coat, "I'm not trying to sound arrogant, but...do you not know who I am?" Kai asked, curious.

Jung Ah smiled, "Of course I do!" she said, "You're Kai, a good friend of mine!" She giggled.

"No, I mean...I'm Kai, from EXO K...?" Kai said. He was surprised that Jung Ah didn't know who he was, not being arrogant or big headed. It's just that he's been on TV a lot recently and even ajjushis and ajjumas will recognise him when he's out.

Jung Ah's eyes widened in realisation, "Oh, my Gosh!" she exclaimed, "I can't believe it, I'm so sorry! I can't believe I didn't recognise you!" Jung Ah bowed.

Kai shook his head, "No, stop being so formal! You're my friend, and you saved me, so please," Kai smiled. Jung Ah couldn't help but smile back. "Now let's deal with these cuts, shall we?" Kai said, he took Jung Ah's arm and carefully lead her down the corridor into the living room.

He told her to sit and wait on the sofa while he went to look for his first aid kit. He came back in no time, and he came back to Jung Ah still waiting paitently.

Kai came back with the first aid kit box and a wet towel, he sat down next to Jung Ah and started to aid to her cuts and scrapes. As he started to dab the wet towel on her cuts, Jung Ah took in a sharp breath at her stinging cuts, she bit her lip. "Sorry, sorry!" Kai apologised.

Jung Ah shook her head, "No, it's fine, it's nice of you doing this for me," she smiled.

Kai smiled back, "This is nothing compared to what you did for me back then." Jung Ah couldn't really say anything after that, but she just gave a small smile.

Silence filled the air as Kai tended to Jung Ah's injury. "So..." Kai attempted to fill the silence, "How come you didn't recognise me earlier?" he asked out of curiousity.

"I'm not really up to date with music, I'm more drama addicted," Jung Ah laughed, "So I'll only know the kpop songs which are drama OSTs, like SHINee, stand by me in Boys over Flowers. Gah, however, I do love SHINee now that I think about it." She said. "But I saw you on an advertisement," she laughed, and Kai couldn't help but to laugh too.

Kai put a bandage on Jung Ah's hand, "Done." he said, finished.

"Thank you, Kai~" Jung Ah said sweetly. "Now," Jung Ah said, "I will make us a hot beverage even though it's not my home, because you're a very busy and tired idol with fangirls to love and tend to." And she stood up and made her way to the kitchen.

"I shouldn't really let you make beverages since you're the guest and I'm the host, but I got to admit, it is my holiday." Kai said, "But I'll help you~" he scurried after Jung Ah.

------------------------------------------------

"So where do you live in the city?" Kai asked, he poured another cup of coffee for himself from the teapot.

Jung Ah took her cup down from her face, "I don't live in the city," she said, "I live more down south in the country side. It's a bit far from here, but it's fine. I'm used to the subway, I used to take it all the time when I was in high school."

Kai chuckled all of a sudden, making Jung Ah put a puzzled face. "Oh, high school...glad I've finished it. Oh, yeah! Jung Ah, what are you doing now? College, I suppose?"

Jung Ah scrunched up her nose, "Well..." she fidgeted.

"What? Did you not pass your exams?" Kai asked, surprised.

"Yeah! I did! It's just that my family is really old fashioned and they want me to carry on their business, but I'm going to a small community college just in case."

"I see," Kai said, "Although, I'm intrigued by your 'old fashioned family'. They seem interesting."

Jung Ah shook her head, "Haha, we're just like any other old fashioned family living in the countryside, really. I really hate that they're so old fashioned..." She frowned and that frown stayed on her face for quite some time.

*She looks kinda cute when she frowns...* Kai thought, but then realised what he was thinking so he mentally slapped himself. *But I wonder why she's frowning.* he wondered.

"But! It's usually just me, my parents and grand parents, I'm the youngest in my family." Jung Ah continued. "Although, we have one of those big tradional korean houses." she added.

"Oh, I've always wanted to see one of those! You must have a lot of space to roam around then, if it's only you." Kai said.

Jung Ah shook her head, "Not really, since it's the winter holidays all of my brothers has come around with their families. So it's like 5 families in the house." Jung Ah laughed and continued to drink her coffee.

*Wow...such a big family.* Kai thought, envying Jung Ah. The only family that he had was the fake one that SM made up for him. He always tries to think that the EXO hyungs are his family now, but he always knows in his heart, they won't be that family who he grew up since birth with.

Sure, D.O is like an umma to Kai and all of the EXO K members, but he won't ever be that umma who cradled Kai to sleep when he was a baby.  He wouldn't be the person who sang to Kai whenever he cried. He won't ever be that umma who whispered ''I love you,'' in Kai's ears before leaving for very early shifts which started about 2, 3am. His last memory of his mother replayed in his head.

Kai awoke from his sleep because of a noise that came from the kitchen, but then he realised it was only his umma. So he was awake when his umma kissed him on the forehead, whispering "I love you," before she went to her early shift. She done this every night for the last 8 years, she never missed a night. And yet, when Kai was 15 years old, she'd still do it.

Kai pretended to be asleep as she kissed him on the forehead, "I'll miss you," for some reason she started to choke up, "I love you and don't you forget it." A tear fell on Kai's face, and hisumma quickly wiped his face before kissing it repeatedly. "I'm sorry, I'll miss you..." she said again, before leaving his room.

The moment she left his room, Kai sat up in bed. He worried about her, *I wonder what's wrong... It's probably just because she watched a drama and she's all emotional now...* he reassured himself, denying that something actually serious happened. Kai hesistated to get up, but didn't in the end. *She'll probably be better if she's left alone...* he thought, and he went back to sleep.

Kai rubbed his eyes as he woke up and got out of bed, dragging himself out of his room and into the kitchen. His eyes widened in shock as he saw all the food that was prepared on the kitchen table. He was confused, his umma would never do this, especially since they were broke and were saving up.

Kai noticed a envelope lying on the table in the middle of all the food. He opened it, curious to know what was the occasion. It was obviously a letter inside, but when he read it, his face fell. Tears started to fall, fists were starting clench into a ball. Kai ran out of the apartment as quick as he could and started to look for his mother. The first place he went to look- the roof.

Maybe, just maybe, he thought, that she backed out, so she stayed up at the roof, tormented. He pushed the door which lead to the rooftop and he called out for his umma. He couldn't hear a response, he ran to the edge to see ambulances gathered into a bunch, tending to a person whose blood splattered all over the conrete floor. All their bones noticeably shattered, even from high above. And that was Jong In's umma. His only umma, because obviously, you can't replace your own mother.

Now the only thing that Kai could hear were sirens. Only sirens, which to this day, the sound that makes him scream and pull his hair out. The sound that makes him cry for his mother. The sound that torments him and will torment him forever.

The sound filled his head as he remembered his mother.

"Hello~?" Jung Ah waved her hand in front of Kai's face. Kai shook his head to get out of his fantasies, "Day dreaming, huh?" Jung Ah laughed.

"Haha, I guess," Kai forced out a smile and laugh.

Jung Ah looked out the window, "Seoul at night is really pretty," Jung Ah let out a warm smile. Kai saw this side of Jung Ah and it felt like his heart almost melted. *So this is what fangirls feel like...* Kai thought, *No! Damn it, Jong In! Keep it together, man!* he told himself off.

Jung Ah sighed, "Oh, no! It's getting late!" she said, she quickly stood up. "I should get going now." She picked up her coat which was lying on the sofa and put it on.

Kai frowned, "Already?" he said, his voice turned into a whine almost.

Jung Ah nodded, "Unfortunately." she said, frowning also. "I don't want to miss the last subway!" she said.

"I should at least accompany you, it's dangerous at night." Kai said, "Especially for a girl." He added.

"Nah! I'm fine, I'm a big girl now!" she laughed, as she lead her own way to the door, Kai followed. She bowed as she got to the door, "Thank you, Jong In. For letting me in your home and for these bandages." She smiled gratefully.

"Also, thank you for coming, and being such a large role in my life. Hope we can meet again soon," Kai smiled.

"I have a feeling that we will meet again soon," Jung Ah laughed.

She opened the door, but before she could step out, Kai said again, "Are you sure that you'll be fine?" Kai asked.

Jung Ah nodded, "Yes, I'll be fine. Thank you." she said again before leaving, she waved goodbye as she walked down the corridor.

Kai frowned slightly as he saw Jung Ah walk away, when he couldn't see her anymore, he went back into the apartment, shutting the door behind him. He leaned against the door, "I've always thought it was cliche and fake of couples when they say they miss each other even though they saw each other five minutes ago..." Kai muttered to himself as he walked to the couch and laid down on it. "I may be crazy, but I miss her already." he covered his face with his hands and cringed. He didn't even know why he was cringing or why he was acting like that.

After several moments of Kai questioning himself, he decided to take a short nap, but he couldn't. It was too quiet. He missed the noise of the EXO boys, the laughter and joy they brought to him. He laid on the couch awake, looking straight at the ceiling.

To be honest, he could've just laid there for the next two weeks until everyone came back. However the time he laid there quietly, the silence was filled with thoughts of Jung Ah. Of how cute she was when she smiled, of when she frowned. When it was cold, her cheeks turned into a rosy red. Kai just admired every single bit of her, she was perfect to him. Like an idol to a fangirl. All her flaws became charms to him.

He grabbed a pillow and hugged it tight, "Grr!" he let out his frustration. "I should just check if Jung Ah got on the right subway, I should go see her." He made up an excuse to go down and see her. He quickly got up and threw on a coat and wrapped on a scarf. "I'm sure she's still waiting for the subway or something, "It's probably delayed..." he kept on making up different excuses to just check to see if Jung Ah had actually left.

Kai decided to take the stair case and he ran down them, he continued to create excuses on the way, he muttered the excuses under his breath as he quickly ran. He shivered as he exited the lobby and to the outside, but continued to run after Jung Ah. He didn't even know why, it had already been 10 minutes, she'd already have gone by now. But something told him to keep on running, something that really you shouldn't trust, but you have to listen to at spontaneous times like this.

As Kai got closer to the train station, he saw a gang of boys crowded around something. Kai slowed down and wrapped his scarf up a bit more.

"P-Please...Leave me alone...I-I'm not from around here, so please." Kai heard a scared, familiar voice say.

"Not from around here?" one of the boys said, "Aww, if you're lost you can come to my house. I'll give you the time of your life." Kai couldn't see that well because it was dark, but you could see the glint in the boy's eyes, it reflected off his shining smirk.

"Tell me, sweetie, what your name is," the same boy said, he stepped closer to the victim.

"Ur..um..." the girl whimpered and hesistated.

"Hurry up!" the boy shouted fiercely.

"Jung Ah!" the victim reacted quickly, "My name is Jung Ah!" Kai's eyes widened, but slyly hid behind a car, he was going to call the police because he was too scared to sort this situation out by himself. I mean, realistically, who wouldn't?

"Jung Ah..." the boy whispered into her ear, he pushed her against a wall and trapped her with his arms either side of her. Jung Ah whimpered as the boy's face was getting nearer and nearer to hers.

Okay, forget realistic, Kai's initiative was crazy and stupid and spontaneous at that moment, so he just went for it. He dashed across the street, and suddenly threw a hard punch to the guy coming on to Jung Ah. Even Kai was surprised when the guy fell to the floor. Now there was about 4 more guys left to beat up. Kai worked out reguarely so he was pretty fit. He managed to knock out 2 of the last four out for a few moments, but the other last two were hard.

But not soon after, they were all down. For now. And when Kai had the chance he grabbed Jung Ah by the wrist and ran. He ran like hell was being broke loose, scared that the gang of boys were running after them. When they were finally and defiantly safe back in Kai's apartment building, they quickly ran into an elevator.

Kai and Jung Ah panted as they collasped on the elevator floor. Kai pressed the button on which floor his apartment was on, and asked Jung Ah if she was okay.

She nodded, "Yeah...I guess. Thank you, thank you so much." She said gratefully.

"It's fine, it really is. So, what happened?" Kai asked, "I mean, before I came..."

"Well, I got to the train station but to find out that I missed the train," she said, "I thought I should go to yours since that's the only place I can go. But then I bumped into those boys, and..."

"Yeah." Kai sighed. The elevator doors opened and they both stepped out, then made their way back to the apartment.

There was a silence as they walked down the corridor, but as they eventually got to Kai's door, Jung Ah asked "What am I supposed to do then? I missed the train, and..." she sighed, she dug her face into her hands. Kai opened his door and lead her inside.

There was another silence as they walked into the living room.

"Oh...what am I supposed to do?" Jung Ah muttered quietly, punching her own head gently.

"Jung Ah..." he said, trying to get her attention. He succeeded and she looked up to listen to what he had to say.

He hesistated before asking "Why don't you stay here?" He gave a small smile, he clutched his hands behind his back. Jung Ah just stared at him and stood in shock. Her eyes widened with a puzzling look.
