Everything was perfect.
Absolutely perfect.
For once, everyone in the world was equal. No one was more special than the other. No smarter, no faster, no more beautiful or handsome, none exceedingly talented. Those things were controlled.
Perfection.
Some citizens, though, as they grew up, the government would realize that they had missed a feature in a person. For instance, one may not have seemed to be more beautiful or handsome than the rest at a young age, but as the years passed, their skin became flawless, their eyes mesmerizing, hair silky smooth. How would the nation’s perfect government handle this?
“Well, cover up the beauty, of course!” A head lady would say. “Have the outstandingly beautiful people wear masks! But, my fellow governors, do not tell the citizens why they must wear the mask, if required to. Why, we wouldn’t want anyone to know that there are more dazzling people of our nation! They would just look down upon themselves! It’s best just to let them think about it for the short moment their little brains can. It’s not like they can think very long anyways, am I right?”
It was true. No one could ever think about something for too long. You could think…think... think… and then, suddenly- BEEP! Your precious thoughts were interrupted and scattered by the alarm of your earpiece. All citizens were to wear them (except for the government, of course) in control of their thoughts. How else could you control the knowledge of the population?
Complete perfection.
But stop.
Everyone knows there is no such thing as complete perfection.
There was a boy, about 18 years old; he went by the name of Soohyun. You could call him a rebel. Truly the only of his kind. He wore a silver mask that covered the left half of his face, for he was considered extremely handsome. He had discovered through pain and trial how to remove his earpiece, therefore being able to think freely. To learn. To be his own person. Love would be hard to find, he knew. Even so, he kept his head held high, hoping for the best. Sharing his knowledge with others would be pointless; they wouldn’t understand.
He had to think of a way to escape this “paradise” quickly. Quickly, before he was discovered.
This is not paradise.

So this is a pretty Sci-Fi romance story with you and Soohyun (when soohyun addresses you, though, your name is SooAh^^ just to make things clear)
I'd like to give credit for this story idea to Kurt Vonnegut who wrote the short story "Harrison Bergeron". We read the story in my English class and it sparked the idea for this fic. The plots are similar, so I can't take full credit for this. So yup c:
