Chapter 42

            Ever since the ball, HaeNi can’t stop thinking about what DuJun said. Every time she tried to bring it up, he would either brush it off or change the subject. DuJun, on the other hand, acts as if nothing happened and goes back to being his normal self.

            DuJun and HaeNi are currently at a business party hosted by one of DuJun’s partners. HaeNi, being his “fiancée”, is his date. HaeNi is standing near the back by herself while DuJun is entertaining his partners. HaeNi mumbled to herself while sipping on her drink, "Stupid DuJun, I'm supposed to be his fiancée but I'm just standing here by myself." "You could have come to me," said DuJun. HaeNi jumped from the shock. HaeNi turns and said, "Where did you come from? You were just over there." DuJun shrugs, "I came over to check up on you." HaeNi said, "Well I'm perfectly fine standing here by myself while drinking this wine." DuJun replies, "Sure." DuJun continues, "If you are fine then I will go back to entertaining my partners." Before HaeNi can say anything, DuJun walks away. HaeNi sighs and walks out to the garden area.

            HaeNi sits down on one of the benches and decides to call EunHee and MinKyung. Not long after, both of them picks up. EunHee/MinKyung said, "Unni?" HaeNi said, "What are you two up to?" MinKyung said, "Us? What about you? I thought you and DuJun oppa are at a business party?" HaeNi sigh, "We are. I kind of made things even more awkward now." EunHee said, "What do you mean? What happened?" HaeNi tells them everything that happened. MinKyung said, "You and DuJun oppa really need to talk." HaeNi said in a frustrated tone, "I tried so many times. Ever since the ball, I've tried. Every time I do, DuJun oppa would just ignore it. I don't even know why I bother. Heck, I don't even know why it bothers me so much. Well, I kind of know why but I just can't accept it. It's so sudden." MinKyung said, "Well, liking someone or having feelings for someone can happen at any given time. There isn't a set time where you can fall for someone. You have no control over it. That's why there's love at first sight or love at first touch. Things like that." HaeNi said, "But just before the ball, I didn't have any feelings for him. I mean, I care about him and stuff but not like that." EunHee said, "Well, sometimes it takes the littlest things to make someone start falling for another." HaeNi looks up at the sky and replies, "This is ridiculous. Also, sometimes I have the tendency to say whatever without thinking. I can't help it. It just comes out."  EunHee and MinKyung didn't know what to say but sigh. HaeNi said, "I'm still confused by what happened with DuJun oppa at the ball." MinKyung said, "I don't know either, but you should talk to him." EunHee agrees. HaeNi sigh, "I guess I will try again later." EunHee said, "You should go back to DuJun oppa instead of talking to us." Right at the moment, she hears DuJun calling her.
