EnYi, China - The Valley of Spirits, 18BC The moon spirit possesses a male stag for survival, which falls prey to a wolf. The wolf in all its terror is a pregnant mother weakened and needy. When the spirt is at its end, the dying wolf births a pair of twins, one female and one male. The spirit's soul splits into two, and at the first full moon during which the cubs are mature, the spirit forces the twins to mate to ensure survival. Unfortunately, the moon spirit's essence is so that every offspring by the twins would be twins, one cub male and the other, female.

EnYi, China - The Valley of Spirits, 100AC Human settlers break the tranquility of their homeland. Soon enough, moon spirit yearns for human body. After chaining itself under slavery to the full moon, twin human bodies are granted which allow the spirit to shift from wolf to human and vice versa. Of course, under condition and tribute that they feed on human flesh from then on every full moon. The villagers start to disappear. Soon these twins appear to 'resolve' the situation, by supposedly casting aside demons via rituals. The twins are hoisted onto the throne.

EnYi, China - The Valley of Spirits, 223AC Centuries pass with a blissful state of being and a content population that only require the sacrifice of one human body every full moon. The current pair of twins are locked in a palace, put into place by the Tree of Life to prevent creation of anymore demonic, flesh-eating beings. They are all-powerful, and when the full moon arises on their seventeenth birthday, the twin male, in anger and rebellion and affection for his mate, does not mate with his twin. The spirit sees that human bodies had minds of their own as well. The twin male forces himself onto a mortal woman, who bears him twins by spring, both male, and yet he is unable to resist the spirit's needs. He mates with his twin and she births a pair of twins, according to legend. But they are now both female, to match the diluted essences of the male offspring. Both twins, in the genetic mixup, look nothing alike. The spirits above pause to weigh the severity of the case.

One female from the second pair of twins is betrothed to the first male of the first, and the other female is betrothed to the next. To carry on with the legends, it is announced that there were quadruplets, and that there were two pairs of male-female twins.

Wu Yi Fan: Christens himself 'Kris Wu'. Nonidentical twin of Huang Zi Tao. Without the actual birth prophecy, Taeyeon is betrothed to him. He takes pride in his heritage and does what he can to preserve peace and harmony with the Forbidden Palace amidst sibling rivalry. Especially when these few twins constantly challenge each other physically as the most powerful people on planet Earth. As half immortal, half mortal, he is unable to shape shift into a wolf.

Huang Zi Tao: He's the more reluctant twin of Kris Wu. He studies the human mind but never gets better at it. He is better at swordplay than any of his siblings, and thinks it his best defense. Huang Mi Young Tiffany is betrothed to him. Both brothers knight themselves different surnames to pronounce their differences.

Huang Mi Young: Is given the Christian name 'Tiffany' by her half-brother Kris. Always cheerful. Not necessarily optimistic but likely to fight if hurt emotionally. Sees Taeyeon as her closest kin as they are biological twins. Takes her betrothed's surname. Slightly immature, because of the emotional shock of losing her mother right after birth. She slowly grows to understand.

Qin Taeyeon: The only sibling to stick with the original surname given to her when she was born. She cares very much for Tiffany as an 'older sister' and is mature enough to understand Tao, to develop a sibling relationship. She struggles with herself and the full moon's urges for her to mate. It is the only time her mental state is weakened. She cares more for anyone else but herself.
