“Actually… I’m a zombie.”

My eyes widened as I heard those terrifying words coming from . Wait, did she just say she was a freaking... ZOMBIE?!

I stared at her in disbelief and there was an awkward silent for a few minutes. I only had my senses back when I felt Boa’s cold fingers touching my shoulders. I felt myself shiver by the mere touch of her hands and I quickly looked down, avoiding her eye contact.

“Hang on,” I said as I started standing up from my desk and grabbing my bag. I could feel Boa’s eyes around me. “Stay there I’m just going to—“

I didn’t bother finishing my sentence as I ran all the way to the other side of the class. Boa turned around to face me with a confused look on her face. She’s probably wondering why I ran away from her. To get away from her, duh!

Before she could stand up and join me, I signalled her to stop using my hands. She quickly halted and stared right at me. “Stay! And we’ll talk!”

Boa nodded sadly, pouting her lips and It looked like she was about to cry. I didn’t want her to cry but I was scared. I didn’t know what Boa was capable to do and because she’s a zombie, she might eat me or something!

However, there’s a small part of me saying that she’s probably lying. That this is all some kind of trick. I bet she does this to all her friends or something.

 But, the majority of my mind is saying, ‘SHE IS A ZOMBIE! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!’

Because it all made sense right? Her innocent yet weird actions, that lustful look she gets whenever she stares at me. Oh god. She wants to eat me! I know it! And why am I realising this now?! Oh wait, God damn it! Jaejoong, you only found out that she was a zombie a few minutes ago!

“You hate me don’t you,” I suddenly heard her soft voice, interrupting my further thoughts. She was looking down however; I knew that she was only one blink away from crying. I hated seeing girls cry and I didn’t want Boa to cry right now. Aish!

 “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you that I’m a zombie in the beginning. I wasn’t sure if—“

“Boa… I don’t hate you,” I interrupted her and she looked back at me. There was something about her eyes that I’ve never seen before. As if, it’s pleading me to believe her. However, I shook that thought off and looked away. “It’s just that... I’m a bit surprise that’s all. I don’t... know. There’s a part of me saying that I should believe you... because I know that you wouldn’t lie about something like this... But the other part says I shouldn’t.”

“I really am a zombie!” She argued back but then she looked back down when she realised what she just said. I then waited for her to continue. “Jae... I really can’t prove it to you right now but you have to believe me. Please…”

I looked at the floor for a minute and then back to BoA. She could only look down as if she’s ashamed that she’s a zombie.

As I was thinking about whether I should trust her or not, a number of flashbacks suddenly came into my mind. From the moment I met her… when I felt that weird vibe coming from her. And from that time she told me how I smelt good. And those times when she tried so hard to become normal with the help of that stupid book.

Although I’ve only met her a few days ago, I knew for sure that she was different. She was a lot different from the other girls I’ve met in my life.

I let out a deep sigh before I continued. I knew I was going to regret this but I have to help Boa. I’m her friend after all. Without me, who would she turn to?

“You know what,” I said and Boa looked up at me, listening to the words I was about to say. I gave her a smile full of reassurance before I continued.

“I believe you.”

A huge smile appeared on Boa’s face. She was smiling from ear to ear and her eyes smiled with her that it looked like they were about to disappear. I couldn’t help but be happy with her.

“Really?!” She replied in excitement, her high pitched voice almost cracked because of happiness. She quickly stood up and ran towards me, hugging me with open arms. “I’m so happy Jaejoong! I’m so glad that you believe me!”

I was a little bit startled when she hugged me but when she said those words, I couldn’t help but smile and slowly wrapped my arms around her, hugging her back. I could feel little sniffles coming from my shoulders and I knew that she was crying. Crying with happiness.

“There there,” I said, softly patting her back. “This isn’t really something to cry about. You shouldn’t be crying… you should be happy.”

She released herself from the hug and she nodded, wiping her tears with the back of her hands. I couldn’t help but smile back in return.

As we both smiled at each other, I couldn’t help but think about a question that lingered in my mind. “But Boa… What are you doing here? I mean, you shouldn’t be here where it’s full of humans’ right? Unless you’re planning to eat--”

“Oh no Jae!” She said shaking her head. I knew right then that Boa is a nice girl and she wasn’t the same type of zombies as the ones you see in films. “I’m not really allowed to say anything but… the truth is… I hate being a zombie. I’ve always wanted to be human. I really like humans and ever since I was little, I’ve wanted to be just like you. Actually, my whole family, except for my dad, have always desired to be humans. So we flew here on Earth, hoping that one day, maybe we can be humans too. But I guess we forgot that Zombies… feed on humans. It’s a bit silly really.”

I saw Boa slightly biting her lips as if she was too ashamed to say this. I nodded for her to know that I was listening. I was about to say something however, she continued speaking.

“When I came here, I’ve promised myself that I wouldn’t be hungry for humans… that I would only try to eat animals. I was doing well until… until I saw you.”

I gulped as I could see that lustful look the moment she looked up to face me. She slowly moved forward and her soft delicate hands reached up to touch my hair. I tried moving backwards and pushing her hands away from me but it was no use.

“B-boa,” I uttered however, she continued to walk towards me. I was getting more scared and I didn’t know what was about to happen. Is she… planning to eat me?!

“There’s something about you Jae… I love your smell… I can almost smell your brain from your skin you know,” Her fingers slowly moved from my hair to my cheeks and I could feel myself getting warmer and warmer. I could also feel my cheeks turning red every time Boa touches my face.

I suddenly felt the cold wall behind me and I knew I was stuck. I stared right back at Boa and she had that smirk on her face.

For some reason, I didn’t have the same courage and braveness that I had just a few minutes ago. I don’t know what’s gotten into me but I couldn’t push her away. I could only stand here, looking all scared and petrified.

 This is it.

I didn’t know what to do but close my eyes.

I was going to die and I knew it.

I closed my eyes shut waiting for Boa’s next move. I couldn’t feel her finger on my face anymore so I just assumed that she was about to grab my head, rip it apart, then eat my brains out and every part of me from my bones to my blood. I know it’s a weird, disgusting thought but I mean that’s how it is in zombie films right?

However, as I waited, I felt like nothing was happening. Suddenly, I heard a scream and I quickly opened my eyes. All I saw was Boa’s back running in away from me and screaming. I didn’t know whether to chase after her but I felt like my feet were stuck in the ground.

“I’m sorry Jae! I’m so sorry!!!” I heard her scream before she ran out of the room.

This chapter wasn't supposed to end at that part but when I tried to write what happens next, it just screamed, CHAPTER 6! xD I'll probably post the next chapter tomorrow or something :)
