Hyerin’s POV

“Uh hello?” I answered my phone.

“How are you doing sweet heart? Liking your new school?” Jongin asked.

“I’m doing good. I’m still adjusting to the environment but I think I’ll be fine and yeah the university is great!” I said.

“That’s good. I’ll pick you up later for dinner kay?” He said before he dropped the call. He’s going here today? In  Jeonju? That’ll take him three hours to get here! But it’s been a long time since I saw him… How sweet of him.

It’s been a month since I moved to Jeonju and three months since the happening in the karaoke room. Life with Jongin was fantastic. Sadly, I had to move here in Jeonju for my studies. I had to take the chance to study here because I passed the scholarship test and they promised to give me an allowance for my everyday living. It was a good deal and I’m quite satisfied with my life. As for Hyesun, well, she’s managing really well as exo’s new cleaner. Now she’s the one who sends extra money to me. If only mum was here… How I miss her. The police gave up on her. We were devastated at first but we had to let her go. Jongin helped me recover and he did a great job at it. If it wasn’t for him, I would’ve been a mad woman who begs for loose change in the streets, I would’ve gone crazy.

“Junmi! I’m home!” I shouted as I opened the door. She was the one who told me about the scholarship, I owe her a big debt. We’re roommates but I don’t think she’s here right now…

What’s that sound? A burglar? It can’t be! The apartment is securely locked. I hear rustling beyond Junmi’s room. Who the hell is in our apartment?! 1…2…3…!

“YA!!!!!” I shouted to intimidate the foe.

“I’m no burglar miss!” He tried to calm me down but it ain’t workin’ on me!

“Liar! Get out!” I kept kicking him. Finally, he dropped to the floor and I can see a cut on his arm. For a second, he glared at me in anger. Just who is he?!

“Stop it!” He shouted.

“Who are you?! Speak up!” I glared at him viciously.

“I’m the owner of this apartment!” He said as he wipe the blood on his arm to his white shirt.

“Owner?!” I shouted in disbelief.

“Let me explain everything to you first” He sighed and stood up from where he was lying. The most comfortable place to talk was at the kitchen table.

“Didn’t my sister told you that I’m moving in?” He asked.

Let me refresh my mind… Snap! I forgot about it! She told me she was moving out yesterday! But she never told me about his brother moving in.

“No, she only told me that she’s moving out” I crossed my arms.

“Aish… Yi Min!” He shouted as he stood up from his chair.

“Yi Min?” I asked. Who is she?

“Junmi… She’s Yi Min. Didn’t she tell you her Chinese name?” He sighed again.

“Junmi’s Chinese? How come I didn’t notice that? And I never knew he had a brother. Wait! Where is Junmi moving to?” I asked.

“Dad forced her to go to the states” He said.

“Mwo?! States! Why? And what are you doing here?” I slammed the kitchen table.

“Dad wants to see her after five years. She kept refusing to go there because dad wants her to live there permanently. I think you’ll never see your friend anymore. And what am I doing here? Good question… She told me that she was living alone and that I can live here in her apartment” He said.

“I guess I have to move out then…” I sighed.

“It was nice meeting you” He smiled and reached out his hand to me.

“Lay’s the name, what’s yours?” He asked.

“Hyerin, Kim Hyerin” I took his hand to shake it.

“Wait!” I said to catch his attention. “Can you give me until tomorrow? I promise I’ll move out by then”

“Why?” He scratched his head.

“Well, unfortunately, I’m not really from Jeonju and I have no house to live in” I smiled to convince him.

“Fine, till’ tomorrow. I’ll keep that in mind” He nodded and went back to his room to unpack.

I’m getting kicked out! Where do I go! I must find a place to rent! But where!? Junmi… Why didn’t you tell me anything? Is this your payback for what I owe you?

I went out of the apartment and bought a news paper. Hopefully there will be rooms here to rent on.

After three hours, there was no hope! Too expensive! Too broken! Too small! Too big! No privacy! Ahk! Where can I find a suitable place to live in?! I should’ve not relied on Junmi! I should’ve rented somewhere else in the first place! But her apartment was perfect! I have my own privacy and she didn’t take too much rent from me. I guess I’ll be living in the streets tomorrow morning!

Another hour has passed and I’ll be sure to hit the roads... My allowance wasn’t enough and the money that Hyesun gives me is only little…

Rain drops started falling and I think I’m about to burst out anytime soon as well. Stupid apartment! Stupid Junmi! Stupid me!  It’s drizzling again. It reminds me of the time when I’m on the streets rescued by Chanyeol… But there’s no Chanyeol here nor Kai. I realised this street is far from home. Will I get back alive? Oh Hyerin! You’re too stupid to not bring an umbrella! “Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!” I cursed myself.

“What are you doing here?” Lay sprung out of nowhere with an umbrella.

“I’m cursing myself for being stupid!” I kept hitting my head.

He sighed and bent down to my level. “Wae?”

“I don’t know where to live! Every renting place is unsuitable for me! I’m too stupid to stay in the apartment in the first place” I shouted and shoot a glare at him.

“You’ll get a cold if you stay long in the rain” He stood up from the floor and offered his hand. “Come on, let’s get you home”

I reached out to his hand and he offered me the small umbrella to myself.

“You’re getting wet. You can come inside the umbrella if you want” I told him.

“It’s too small. We won’t fit” He said coldly.

“Come inside! You’ll get sick! I don’t mind” I looked away.

He came inside his umbrella. I don’t even have the right to take his umbrella…

We were too close to each other that it came to the point that my head was in his shoulder already then he automatically wrapped his protective arms around my shoulder so that it could take less space.

“You don’t mind right?” He asked.

“Not at all” I beamed a friendly smile. There was something different, I mean, how he looked at me. Even though it’s drizzling and we’re legitimately wet. I can see his face turned red. Is he blushing or something?

We got home successfully. His arms were still in my shoulder when we got in. His very still and not moving, then he turned around to face me and wrap me in his warm embrace.

“Mwo?” I whispered at his left ear.

“Just a second” He said calmly. It felt like the world stop for a second. After ten weird seconds, he pulled off and went upstairs to his room.

“Change to your dry clothes, you might get a cold” I hear him say.

“You too!” I said.

After I changed, I saw him drinking tea on the kitchen table. Two cups were set in the table and I’m assuming the other cup is for me. I took the cup and sat across him.

“Gomawo” I smiled and took a sip at the camomile tea.

“You’re welcome, feel any better?” He asked in concern.

“Yeah… And you?” I asked him back.

“Same” He said as he took a sip.

“I need to pack my stuff” I bowed and left the cup in the table.

“No!” He said.

“What?” I asked.

“Stay” He said as if begging.

“Don’t worry, I’ll get back down after I pack up everything” I smiled and bowed.

“No. Stay here. We can live together. I don’t mind” I can see his eyes widen as he said those words. He was probably shock of what he said as well.

“Mwo?” I asked in disbelief.

“Stay here. With me” He finally gave a warm smile.

“You’re not joking right?” I gave him a anticipating smile.

“No, I mean it” He said as he looked away.

I jumped everywhere knowing that I can stay and that I’ll not get kicked out!

“GOMAWO!” I accidentally hugged him.

“Nae…” He said. His voice was unstable and I can feel his grip on my body. There was something different with it. Could he have feelings for me? Nah! Hyerin! Don’t think like that!

“Have you eaten?” He asked after I pulled away.

“No” I shook my head innocently.

“I’ll cook for you” He smiled as he said the words.
