Day 238
Remembering Kevin
Day 238:
A loud thumping noise awoke me from my slumber, I sat up looking quite irritated. My eyes had to adjust to the light. My room was more illuminated then usual.
“Hey Kev~” I heard a sweet and sincere voice from my right side. He was situated on the window sill.
“Xander. What time is it?” I asked sheepishly as I rubbed my eyes with my fists.
“Precisely… 8 in the morning.”
“Why are you here…so early?”
“I promised I would see you everyday, and this is the only time I had free today,” he admitted.
“I’m sorry…” I confessed.
“What are you sorry for?! Don’t be, of course I’m here, and it’s because I want to be Vinny~ Like that? Vinny… sounds cute. It also matches you well doesn’t it?” He said with a chuckle.
“Alexander, you don’t have to come everyday. I don’t want to be a burden…”
“YOU AREN’T A BURDEN!” He shouted, and swiftly hopped off of the sill and plopped onto the edge of my hospital bed.
“Kevin Woo… don’t you EVER think you are a burden. I love you and I’m here on my own terms to be with you. How did you sleep?~” He cooed.
I let out a small sigh, almost unnoticeable. “I slept…well,” I lied.
“That’s good! Yea, I’ve been sleeping rather… uneasily…” I raised an eyebrow.
“Why is that?” I was now curious. Alexander wasn’t one to let his sleep get in the way of problems, but this was different.
“You,” he confessed.
“M…me?” My eyes widened at the truth.
“Yes, ever since I heard about you recently, and then I saw you yesterday…I just, haven’t been able to get much sleep to be honest,” he turned away from me showing his vulnerability.
“Alexander…” I tried to reach over to comfort him, but I pulled a wire and it came loose.
“Jesus Christ!” The needle came out of my skin and it made the machine begin to beep and make all sorts of unpleasant noises.
“KEVIN!” The nurse ran in. Shockingly, she wasn’t upset. Probably because the sight of Alexander made her less cross with me I’m sure.
Alexander became worried, which was the last thing I needed. He began to put his hands over his face and let his mouth widen as the nurse reinserted the needle into my veins.
She tapped it a few times and then re-taped it, reminding me to be more careful. I gave her a diminutive nod and she fled the room.
“Kevin?” Alexander was speaking so quiet, so gentle, that it made me nervous.
“Yea?” I asked, tampering with the newly taped needle.
“Are you…are you alright?” He asked, inching closer to me.
“Yea Xander, I’m perfectly fine. I just-” He cupped my face, and hugged my upper body, nuzzling his face into my shoulder.
“I’m sorry…” He was apologizing this time.
“Alexander… don’t. Honestly I’m-”
“YOU AREN’T FINE KEVIN STOP PRETENDING YOU ARE!” He suddenly became furious, and it frightened me. A tear rolled down my face out of fear.
Alexander saw it and instantly felt remorse, kneeling down by my side he grabbed my hand.
“Kevin, I love you.”
“I love you too Alexander.”
“I promise, Eli will visit soon.”
“Don’t make promises you can’t keep, Xander.”
There was a long pause of silence, until he stood up and moved to the other side of the room.
“Kevin, he will come you know…”
“Okay.”
Alexander continued to pester me about Ellison, and how he will most definitely visit soon. I believed none of it. I couldn’t, because I knew Mina and how Eli felt about her. Why on Earth would he want to see me?
Alexander continued to talk until he had to go to work for the day. I didn’t mind, because even this short while it was nice having his company.
“I will be back tomorrow okay?” He said with a smile.
“Alright Xander, alright,” I responded back, returning the smirk.
He left and shut the door behind him, as I let my tears flow naturally.

My best friend.
My secret love for him was, as far as anyone was concerned, my classified information.
The fact he was in love with Mina, broke my heart to bits. I thought about it every day, because, how could I not.
He hasn’t visited me… and it covertly killed me inside.
Alexander’s presence was nothing short of wonderful though, along with the others. But Eli, he was different…
I continued to write down poetry, memories, good times so to speak, that I could remember down in a separate notebook.
The time passed quicker than it appeared, because it was soon somber and cold.
Xander left the window ajar.
I reached to close it, pulling on my cords.
“Damn…” I muttered.
I left it open for the night, allowing the fresh breeze to sweep across my face and send small shivers down my spine.
The wind and the tears I was crying helped me fall asleep much more quickly that night.
