He Likes Her
Beside Her
Eunmi was in the middle of frying steaks when she heard her front door open and close. She'd left it unlocked for Taemin. "Is that you, Taem?" she called.
"Yep," he called back. She then heard his bare feet running and prepared herself to be bear hugged by putting the spatula down and stepping away from the stovetop. He barreled into her back and squeezed as tight as possible.
"I kind of like breathing," she'd just barely been able to wheeze the words out because he really was squeezing as hard as he could. At her words he loosened his hold, but continued to hold on.
"Noona, I missed you. I had an interview with Jonghyun today and before that I had a solo interview with a magazine and I'm tired and hungry. Ooooh you're cooking steak?! I love your steak, noona!" Taemin finally paused to take a breath.
"You really can let go of me now, Tae." When he stubbornly shook his head that was resting on her shoulder she sighed as she continued to cook with him hanging onto her. "How come you never called me back?"
"Dropped my phone in the street and a car ran over it so I haven't had a phone for a few days," he said with a shrug.
"Oh. Well I guess he told you and you didn't really need me to tell you since you live with him."
She felt Taemin straighten behind her, but he still didn't let go of her. "Him? Who? Tell me what?"
"Ah… That'd be me," Jinki said from where he sat at the kitchen table. Taemin's head whipped to Jinki as he let his arms drop. "I… uhm… I was going to tell you that I'd be here tonight, but…" Jinki shrugged with an apologetic smile aimed at Eunmi. "I guess maybe I didn't completely believe you when you said that you knew Taemin."
Eunmi was genuinely confused. "If you didn't believe me, why in the world would come to my house? What if I was actually a sasaeng? That's really not smart, Jinki."
Jinki felt a blush creeping up his cheeks and tilted his head away as he rubbed his neck. "I wanted to come because... because I-I was hoping I could believe you…"
, Taemin thought in annoyance, he likes her.
