Game On

Bloodline

Sorry it took forever for me to update, but I've been working on my novel for publication, so I've been trying to write a chapter a day of each book. I have posted a link for a trailer I made so be sure to check it. I will try to update weekly and I apologize again for the long wait. Look forward to chapter 7.

CHAPTER 6

GAME ON

Minho opened his eyes, waking up to the morning sun. For the first time he didn't mind it. He didn't know if it was because he was wearing his pendant or because of the boy lying on his shoulders. Either way he knew one thing. Taemin definitely had a hold on him.

Minho stared at Taemin, his eyes moved behind his eyelids. He pushed aside a piece of hair falling over Taemin's face. He wanted to see him.

"What are you dreaming about that scares you so much?" Minho touched Taemin's cheek and took in his warmth. "I promise I'll take care of you. I'll never let anyone hurt you. Not while I'm still alive."

Minho laid his head back on Taemin's. Minho was knew to this feeling. His parents had explained it many times when he was human and a curious boy. He never wanted to see the boy hurt and he yearned closeness with him. His heart would beat around Taemin although it stopped two decades ago.

Yes, he knew alright. Minho was falling in love. A love that was ruled forbidden even before his parents.

Minho took in the boys scent. Never wanting to forget it. How was he going to continue coming to this school when the boy tempted him so much?

Minho heard the clicking off the library doors opening and brought up his head. He didn't want to leave, but class was going to start soon and teachers were going to start looking for them. And for Taemin's sake he didn't want them to be caught in such a questioning position. So he shook his shoulder to gently wake him.

Taemin's eyes flew open and Minho couldn't help but love the face he made. He smiled slightly and backed away. He looked like a confused child and Minho loved it.

"The doors have unlocked." Minho said standing up. "We better get out of here before someone finds us."

Taemin nodded in compliance and stood up. Minho gave him another smile staring the boy up and down. Even in the morning he looked as delicious as ever. Minho could see Taemin look away shyly and he couldn't help but allow his smile to grow bigger. It was fine playing with him.

Had it been up to Taemin they would have stayed locked up in the library all day. He enjoyed Minho's company even if it did have consequences. But hearing the words "before someone finds us" coming out of Minho's mouth rid him of any hope for them. He felt that even Minho wanted nothing to do with him.

Then why did he help me? Taemin asked himself. Was it for me or because it was the right thing to do?

Taemin seemed to get lost in his thoughts because he didn't remember Minho stop when he bumped into him.

"what's up?" Taemin asked watching as Minho went pale. He looked up and felt his jaw drop.

Plastered along every wall, flowing onto the floors and spilling onto the school yard below, were posters. The bold lettering at the top just three words.

Taemin Loves Boys!

Underneath was a picture of him and Minho. Taemin's head was resting comfortably on Minho's shoulder and he was sound asleep.

Taemin went to turn to look at Minho, but he had already bolted down the hall, ripping one of the flyers off the wall and clutching it in his fist before disappearing around the corner.

Taemin slouched and stared down at the floor as he made his way down the hall. He could hear the whispers of the students on either side of him as he tried not to glance at them.

He just wanted to get out of there. He couldn't control his eyes and looked up. A mistake he knew but it was too late. A boy standing by another looked at him. He his lips and blew Taemin a kiss.

He turned away and ran as fast as he could away from there.

Minho was on a mission, to say the least. He had a clue on who could have stupidly posted the poster knowing he'd be coming, but he wanted to make sure.

Not for himself. He could care less about his image. It was for Taemin. He didn't want the kid to be tainted by such an uncompromising picture.

Minho searched every room looking for the newspaper club. When he finally came across it there was boy fidgeting with a computer.

Without hesitation Minho grabbed the boy by the neck slammed him against the wall and began to squeeze. Minho brought up the flyer to his eyes. He squeezed the boys neck making sure he got a good look at it.

"Who told you to do this?" Minho asked getting silence. Minho squeezed tighter. Telling the boy that he would not hesitate to kill him. "Who?"

The boy mustered up one word coming out in a low whisper through his closed throat. "Onew."

Minho let go of the boys throat and let him drop. Not caring at all about the boys well being.

"Where is he?" Minho asked.

"The courts." The boy said without hesitation rubbing his neck.

Minho marched across the school yard, one thing on his mind. To Kill Onew. And Minho didn't care if he had to break the laws of his kind to do it. He was going to make Onew pay for what he did. Even if it came with consequences.

"I wish I could have seen his face when he walked out of that library. Seeing all those posters all over the place, he must have had a mental break down." Eunhyuk said bouncing a basketball.

Onew stood below the net waiting for Eunhyuk to shoot. "This will show them to never cross me again." Onew caught the ball as it made it through the net.

Key stood on the sidelines. As usual he had his nose stuck in a book, but he was far from enjoying it. He gripped the edges of his book so tight that his fingers were at the brink of bleeding. Even now he didn't understand why he was angry, but he was.

"Can't you just leave him alone!" Key yelled in his outburst of anger. "Don't you think you've put him through enough?"

Onew and Eunhyuk stood frozen. It had been the first time that Key ever rose his voice at them. They've had their fights, but they were more or less with fists it was never verbal, because words hurt more than the pain from knuckles against face. Words are something that can never be forgotten.

Onew threw the ball back at Eunhyuk and walked over to Key. "What's going on with you?" Onew asked standing beside him.

Key shut his book and threw it on the ground by his bag. "I don't know. It's just lately there's been a voice inside my head telling me to protect Taemin. To watch him."

Key felt his eyes swell up and his tears begin to run. "I'm scared."

"About what?" Onew asked his pinky slowly wrapped around Key's.

"I'm scared that if you don't stop I'll have to hurt you and I don't want to. Anyone but you."

Onew linked his fingers with Key's rubbing the back of his hand with his thumb. "If it's for you, I'll stop. No one means more to me than you and I'd never let you be scared."

Key smiled while Onew placed his hand on his face, caressing it softly. Onew was vicious it's true, but it didn't mean he was heartless. He loved Key and would do anything for his happiness.

Onew leaned closer to Key, their lips only inches apart.

"Onew!" The yell drew their attention away from each other.

#

Minho inched closer to Onew. He had his hands clenched in fists making sure his nails dug into his palms to stop him from killing Onew right there and then.

He had thought it over. If he killed Onew the council will be called and they would kill him. He would never see Taemin ever again and he refused to let that happen.

Onew put up his hand stopping Minho from saying a word. "I'll save you the trouble." Onew turned to Eunhyuk holding his hands out while he threw the basketball at him. "I'll play you. Us three against you and two players of your choice. You win I'll leave your little boyfriend alone and make sure to get his mother's job back. But if I win, you become my pet in his place." Onew a piece of Minho's hair. "What do you say? I'll give you five minutes to find your teammates."

This is low. Minho thought to himself while he figured out Onew's plan.

Onew knew no one would oppose him so he purposely chose a three-on-three match rather than a one-on-one. He knew no one would team up with Minho giving him an automatic win.

The boy was devious and cunning. It was hard for Minho to admit that he admired that about Onew. At least a little.

"I'll play." Jonghyun jumped off the benches with a bag of half eaten chips in his hand. He scarfed the rest down while he walked over to them, crumpled it up and threw it on the ground. "Should be fun."

"What are you doing here?" Minho asked.

"I wanted to see where my younger siblings went to school. Plus I got kind of board at the university. It's no fun because I don't have anyone to pick on." Jonghyun wrapped his arms around his brothers neck.

"Your still one man short."

#

Taemin thought that he'd never make it to his first period. He had dodged so many glances and managed to tear away from some guys trying to get a grab at him. He didn't think it would turn this bad.

"Taemin-ah!" Taemin turned around and spotted Donghae running up to him. He grabbed ahold of Taemin's wrist and dragged him along behind him. "You have to come. That guy Minho, is up against Onew in the courts."

Why Minho?

The crowd at the courts were bigger than usual. Usually no one would set foot there when Onew was playing, but seeing as this was a game of importance everyone wanted to get a look.

Taemin and Donghae pushed their way through to the front.

"You have two minutes to find your last player or the deals off." Onew said tapping his watch.

"I'll be their last player." Taemin was surprised when Donghae spoke up.

"What are you doing? Do you want Onew to target you too?" Taemin said grabbing onto Donghae's shirt.

"I just want to play." He plainly said and joined the rest.

Taemin crossed his fingers and closed his eyes.

I hope you win. He prayed before opening his eyes again.

#

"That makes three." Jonghyun said counting heads. "Now the game can begin."

Minho leaned over to Jonghyun and whispered in his ear. "Remember they're humans so take it easy on them."

"No problem little brother. I don't think I'll have to use any of my abilities to beat them."

Minho gritted his teeth. "If we beat them he'll let Taemin off the hook." He said to Donghae before turning to him. "So make sure we win."

"Don't worry. It'll be a piece of cake."

"Okay first team to ten wins." Onew said, throwing the ball at Minho. "You can have the ball first."

Basketball was one of his favorite sports. He spent most of his human life preparing himself to be a professional athlete, but things went in a different direction. Thankfully he had the talent and it wasn't a Nightling boost.

He dribbled the ball past Onew, passing to his brother where he made the shot from the three pointer. It went on back and forth. Each team scoring an amount of valuable points until they reached the finals.

It was tie nine-to-nine. One more point and either team was going to win. Onew had the ball, dribbling down the middle. Minho thought it was almost over for them, but Donghae managed to steal the ball and made their last point.

Both teams were exhausted by the time they made it back to the middle.

"You win." Onew held out his hand and Minho shook it. "I was going to let him off anyway." Onew looked over at Key. "Someone more important to me asked me to."

"And his mom's job?" Minho asked.

"Don't worry she'll get her job back."

"Taemin-ah!" Minho turned at the sound of his name. Unfortunately the scene in front of him was one he never wanted to see.

Donghae had Taemin his arms. Their embrace looking more than that of a friend.

"Looks like your competition is one step ahead of you my friend." Onew said with one arm around Minho's shoulder.

Minho gripped tightly to the ball before slamming it against the floor. The courts roared so loud from the contact that everyone stood back while Minho stormed out of there. He didn't want to stand there an watch. Not while that Donghae kid had his dirty human hands all over his Taemin.

Chapter 7: Arghh! Minho just let Onew go like that? He deserves a punch at least.. I hate it when people hurts others badly and get off scot free.. that just a basketball game to stop him from continue the bullying even then it mostly because of Key, but what about the justice for things he already did? I am petty..

I discovered this through the awesome trailer, and am quite amazed by the plot you've come up with.
I also noticed you're writing a book for publishing, may I ask how it is doing?
Thinking... this is one-of-a-kind story, but there are many mistakes and I wished you would've described things better. I am by no means flaming or being rude, but because you're (I assume) aiming to be an author, I just decided to give some criticism if it's fine for you:P
I understand the story's, well, old (you started writing it in 2010?)but I just decided to drop by^^ since this really drew me into the story, making me read it in one shot, not even blinking an eye.
But overall, I liked this story really much *0* I hope you don't stop writing ever :)!
