I Remember... (Naomi + Sungmin)

One Shots Over The Rainbow
Naomi and Sungmin: Love Between Star and Manager.

Was this meant to be? From friend to manager.

But.. Naomi has no clue about her past after a horrible incident. Will her memories come back? Or not..

This love was already twisted enough... but it's just about to get more weird!

-

Sungmin watched Naomi perform from the TV in the back room. 'She really is amazing.....' She was dancing and singing to her covers of 'I Don't Care' by 2NE1 and 'Tell Me Your Wish' by Girl's Generation(SNSD). Her performance just started five seconds ago, yet everyone's eyes— including Sungmin's— were glued to her. On the stage or on TV. She was just as talented. He watched the way she moved to the beat, and the way the words sounded like a melody every time she sings.

Someone knocked on the door. It was one of the staffs. “The CEO of SM is looking for you.” She whispered, “Apparently he has a ton of work for you.” She cleared . “A replacement manager will take your place for the time being.” She retrieved back into the hall.

'I wonder what kind of work he wants me to do.' Sungmin stared at the wall, confused, and then left the waiting room.
-
“Kahmsamida!” Naomi said through the speakers during the end of her performance. “I would like to thank my manager, Sungmin-shii.” She bowed. “Without him or my family, I wouldn't be the Naomi you know today.” She smiled as fans applauded and bowed again. “Saranghaeyo!” She waved her hand as the other hand clutched the bouquet of roses from a fan.

She walked back into the dressing room as her stylist and makeup artist was reapplying her makeup. She sat back, relaxed. “Where's Sungmin-shii?”

Her stylist lifted up her hair and applied odorless hairspray. “Mr. Soo Man had some work for him. There's a replacement for now.”

“Oh...” There was a little hit of sadness in her voice. This was her big comeback. She wanted the person who had been there with her throughout all the hard times.. watching her as she succeed.

“Don't let that ruin your mood, dear. He will come back. Mr. Soo Man may work you to death, but I doubt he will give Mr. Lee that much work.” The makeup artist said in a calm voice while applying more blush to Naomi's cheeks. “Close your eyes.”

Naomi closed her eyes as she felt a soft brush, brushing her lids. 'I hope he comes back soon..'
-
Sungmin sat in a seat across from SM. He played with his fingers. SM finally turned around and faced him.

“So tell me.. do you love my God Daughter, Naomi.” He stared at Sungmin, expecting a honest answer. Sungmin swallowed and sat still.

-
back then;
-

“Sungmin-ah..” Naomi took hold of his hands. She had stopped swinging and was now staring longingly into his eyes.

“Hm?” He had also stopped swinging. What was she going to tell him? Back then it was true. Twelve year olds didn't know as much as they thought they knew about the adult world. All he could say was 'Hm.'

“I want to join SM...” Naomi sort of frowned. “But then I will be too busy to see you.” She sniffled.

Sungmin squeezed her hands. “Don't worry. I'll still be your friend.” Naomi cheered up.

“Naomi! Time to go!”

“Thanks a lot!” Naomi pecked Sungmin on the lips and waved good bye.

Sungmin dazed off and touched his lips. 'I might as well never wash these lips ever again...'

-
end;
-

“N-n-neh.” Sungmin looked down at his fidgeting hands. “I love your god daughter.. I can plan on loving your daughter..”

SM nodded. “I like your thinking, son. You may leave now.” Sungmin nodded and said his goodbyes. SM turned back to the window one Sungmin disappeared. “Keep your hopes high, Lee Sungmin.” He chuckled. “You may need it.” He closed the shades. “The future is unexpected.”
-
Naomi stood outside, waiting for Sungmin. She looked at her watch and pouted. “The concert is way past over and yet he still isn't here.”

“Naomi, do you want to sit inside? It's quite cold out, considering that it is now winter.” Her stylist peeked out of the door.

“No thanks.” She smiled. “I'm sure he will come soon.”

“Okay, if you're sure. You can still come in anytime.” And with that, the stylist went back to her job.

A car stopped in front of her. “Need a ride?” It was Nickhun. Naomi looked at the setting sun and nodded. It was very late, Sungmin probably wouldn't come. She hopped into the passenger seat.

“So.. oppa.. how did you know I was here?”

“Magic?” He shrugged and drove away.

-
Sungmin watched from inside his car. 'Who was the guy who took her?' He sighed. 'Must have been the replacement manager.' He headed back home.
-
Naomi tried calling Sungmin right after she got home. Each time she would reach his voice mail.

“Hello, this is Sungmin. Sorry. I'm probably busy right now. I'll reply as soon as possible.”

“Ughhh.” She gave up and decided to watch TV instead. It was the latest KPOP news. Her eyes were focused on the screen, was wide opened.

“This was just in. The latest KPOP celeb, Naomi, has been announced to be engaged.” The reporter flipped to the next page. “Her only relative, Soo Man of SM, decided to engage her to.. Woah! Hold it fan girls!... NICKHUN of 2PM!” Naomi turned off the TV and went to her bedroom, gawking. She dialed her God Father's number. He picked up on the first ring.

“Annyonghaseyo?”

“Appa! How could you?” Naomi whined on the phone.

“It's just for publicity! Don't worry.”

“BUT I'M GETTING ENGAGED! How can I not worry?”

“I got to go. Talk to you later.” And with a click. He hung up.
-
Sungmin spitted out the water he was drinking when he saw the news. 'You got to be kidding me.'
-

“Lee Sungmin. This is just the beginning of my test. You didn't think I would give up my beloved god daughter this easily, would you?” SM smiled and went on with his work.
-
The next day, both Nickhun and Naomi were being bombarded with the paparazzi and cameras.

“Neh. It's true. Yeah. We really have to go.” Nickhun answered all the questions that was being fired at them. He suddenly took Naomi's hand. Electricity was giving her a tingly feeling. Her face turned pink. They entered the van and took off. Sungmin drove. He kept staring at the rear view mirror, looking at Naomi and Nickhun.

'She will never remember anything this way...' Sungmin stopped the car as he dropped Nickhun off in front of JYP.

“Bye~” Nickhun wiggled his fingers as he waved bye.

Naomi sighed. “All this acting is tiring...”

'Acting?' Sungmin brightened up a little.

“Say, Sungmin.. If you were me, acting as if you love someone you don't love.. Would you try and get out of it?” Naomi placed her chin on the top part of the seat.

Sungmin thought about it for a while and nodded. To be honest his mind was only thinking of, 'YES! So.. she's not really taken!'

“Sungmin.. were you someone important in my past before?”

Sungmin kept quiet. He didn't know how to answer her.
-
one week later;
-
The reporter stood outside the chapel. “Boy, are they speeding things. All fan girls and boys must be at home either happy for this new soon to be couple or crying their hearts out.” The reporter dabbed her eyes with a napkin. “I sure will be.”

Sungmin sat at home, watching the entire report. He had retired from being Naomi's manager. He won't be able to get close to her with her new husband in the way. He sighed. At least he can congratulate her, right? He got up and dressed in another one of his suits, heading out the door with a present.
-
The wedding bells rang as the priest read from 'The Bible'. It felt as if yesterday was the start of the whole engagement. Relatives and close friends attended. The reporters and photographers were forced to stay outside. Naomi sat in the dressing room, biting her bottom lip and chewing the inside of her cheek. Something didn't feel right. Sure she felt like she loved Nickhun, but her heart told her otherwise.

She peeked out the door, scanning the crowd. One person seemed missing. 'I wonder who...'

“Ms. Lee, you have to go soon.” One of her God Father's workers informed her. All Naomi could do was nod. She felt butterflies in her stomach. They were fluttering and flapping oh so freely.
-
Soo Man looked at his watch. 'Lee Sungmin.. where are you?' He sat there impatiently, tapping his watch.

“Is there something wrong, jagiya?” His wife asked with concern.

“No.. I guess I'm just getting impatient.” He assured her with a smile.
-
Sungmin watched his love from afar. She seemed somewhat nervous. He would be there to tell her to cheer up but couldn't bring himself to. 'Aish! Sungmin! She now loves someone else! You had one whole week to win her back!' He knocked himself on the head.

“Is there something wrong, sir?” A passerby asked him.

“N-no.”

The wedding bells stopped ringing and music started playing.

“Sounds like they're having an awfully nice time there, huh?” The ahjumma smiled. “You should go before its too late.” With that, she left.

“Neh..” Sungmin said to himself. He could imagine the priest talking and then the two soon to be newlyweds saying their vows. 'I can't let that happen!' Sungmin walked across the street, not noticing the red light.

CRASH.

Everyone in the chapel gasped. Naomi ran outside in the middle of their vows. She felt tears pricking her eyes, threatening to escape. Right in the middle of the street was Sungmin. Lee Sungmin....

“My childhood love..” She whispered to herself and ran towards Sungmin. Naomi sat down besides him and cried, hugging the lifeless Sungmin. “I remember..... I really do.” Tears dropped onto the ground as the paramedics took Sungmin into the ambulance. The whole ride, Naomi clutched his hand.

“Sungmin-ah.. you have to wake up, you hear?” More tears rolled down her cheek, causing the makeup to smudge. She didn't care about anything.

Not Nickhun, who was probably heartbroken.

Not the people who attended the wedding, who were wondering what happened.

Not about her now ruined makeup and dress.

She didn't care about anything...

...Anything except Lee Sungmin... her first true love.

-
One Year Later;
-

Naomi visited Sungmin everyday of the year. He was still in his coma. She still continued on with her job. She wanted to become the successful idol Sungmin wished her to be. She had to give it her all. She even wrote a song dedicated to Sungmin.

“I hope you will get well, Sungminnie.” She smiled as she kissed him on the cheek and held him hand. She looked at the time. “Sorry.. I got to go.” She frowned. “I'll visit you after work.” She got up from her seat and started walking away, but she couldn't. Sungmin's hand was holding tightly onto hers. Her eyes got big.

“DOCTOR!”
