As their semester progressed, Wendy and Irene spent more time together, both in study sessions and simply hanging out. Wendy fondly recalls two intimate moments that had brought them closer together: one when they discovered each other's Korean names, and the other when Irene shared the story of her startup.

Flashback 1:

Irene was over at Wendy's apartment while Wendy was preparing some snacks for them. Wendy's phone rang, and Irene yelled from the couch, "Wendy, your phone is ringing. Looks like it’s your mom."

Wendy turned to Irene and said with a smile, "Can you answer and tell her I'll call her back in a couple of hours?"

Irene, trying not to panic as she was talking with her future mother-in-law, answered the call, "Seungwan, where have you been? I've been trying to reach you since yesterday."

She replied politely, her voice steady, "Hello, ma'am. This is Bae Joohyun speaking. I'm from Seungwan's MBA cohort. She's currently occupied but wanted me to tell you that she will call you soon. Is there anything urgent that you'd like me to relay to her?" The two ended up chatting for a bit while Irene waited for Wendy. 

When Wendy came back with their snacks, Irene couldn't resist a mischievous grin as she continued, "Thanks, Seungwan. By the way, that's a boy's name, isn't it?"

Wendy, trying to hide her embarrassment, shot back playfully, "Well since you brought it up, Ms. Baechu, I had no idea you're Joohyun. Anything else you're hiding from me?" Irene chuckled at the unknowing Wendy.

Later that night, when Wendy returned her mom’s call, she was happy to hear that Irene had made a good impression. Her mom said with a warm tone, "Oh, why didn’t you tell me you made a Korean friend, and she was so polite? I feel more reassured now that I know you have good company. You should invite her to visit us when you come during your break."
