The empire of the entertainment industry, CJ E&M entertainment and their broadcasting subdivision known as Mnet has announced their first girl group in the works!

After the success of popular survival show, Produce 101 Season 1 and 2 and then Produce 48, that took the world over by storm, CJ E&M entertainment / Mnet has announced that they are in the works of creating a multi-company girl group of the same theme as a follow-up. When the first two seasons aired, CJ E&M (the founders of Mnet) never imaged the immense popularity that the survival show that they had produced would gain from worldwide followers, but since viewers are now protesting after the ending of Produce 48, CJ E&M decided to give them what they were all craving but in the form of a girl group-- Spectrum.

With the theme of unity with a goal of bringing together the kpop industry and nation, CJ E&M has decided to take a risk and debut a nine-member girl group with girls from different agencies without the survival show aspect - a first among companies.

Mnet, a subdivision of the entertainment company CJ E&M, revealed today in their press conference just a few hours ago, "[Spectrum] will be our latest addition to CJ E&M and Mnet broadcasting and a stream of popular girl groups from all agencies. We've decided to take a risk and interview girls from across the nation at thousands of different entertainment companies in the hopes of creating a nine-member ultimate girl group who will represent South Korea, their agencies, and CJ E&M. This year, we're doing away with the survival aspect and instead, will create a permanent group by interviewing and auditioning, similar to traditional group formations.
