Chapter 12: Doubts

KO One Re-Live

Wang Da Dong didn't go to school the next morning. Tian Xin had informed him that Liang Zhi and Xia Ba had wanted to talk to him about something important but were unable to meet him at school so Da Dong had dragged himself to the hospital early that morning. He wondered, what had they to say to him? He hoped it was important because he wanted to sleep in later that day. If it weren't for his form tutor, he wouldn't have stepped a foot out of his bed. He walked into the ward and into the room where his classmates were resting.

"Da Dong Ge!" Liang Zhi called as soon as she noticed him.
Da Dong headed over to them and sat on a chair beside their beds, "What's the matter?" he asked, "What's so urgent that you need to call me over here?"
"I'm sorry Da Dong Ge but it couldn't wait," Xia Ba apologised, "I'll get straight to the point."
Da Dong crossed his legs and leaned back in his chair, "I'm listening."
"It's about that new classmate, Jiang Yu Yan," Liang Zhi began, hesitating.
"What about her?" He replied.
"Please beware of her, I'm afraid she's not who she says she is," she continued.
"From what I remember, I am pretty sure she is the one who attacked us and stole our battle points," Xia Ba confessed, "I could never forget her face."
"What makes you so sure that it was her?" Da Dong asked, "I've already acknowledged her as one of us. I trust her."
"She's not a simple person Da Dong Ge, please believe us," Xia Ba pleaded, "Please be careful around her!"
"I won't believe you without any evidence," Da Dong said, "Your memory alone isn't reliable."
"But Da Dong Ge-" Before Liang could finish, Da Dong stood up abruptly.
"Before you baselessly accuse someone, make sure you have evidence. That's the most important thing," he looked at them, "I'll take what you said into consideration and look out for her but it doesn't mean I believe you," he finished before turning to leave.

As he walked towards the door he thought about what the two girls had said. He remembered when Ya Se had told him that Lei Ke Si was KO2 and he had completely ignored and dismissed the idea so he shouldn't take Yu Yan so lightly. Yu Yan was a strange girl when she had first joined them and had a mysterious aura and it just screamed out to everyone who looked at her - she wasn't a normal girl however you looked at her. But he didn't want to suspect her of anything, if he didn't learn how to trust her then how would he befriend her?

"Dong Ge~" Jin Bao San burst in through the doors before Da Dong could leave, on his head was the large device with an ear which he used to eavesdrop on conversations.
"Jin Bao San!" Da Dong barked, "What do you think you're doing?!"
"Dong Ge~! After hearing your conversation just now, I couldn't hold myself back!" Jin Bao San exclaimed dramatically, "I have to let this out!"
Da Dong grabbed his ear, throwing daggers at him through his eyes, "Get to the point."
"Jiang Yu Yan isn't actually blind, she can see!" Jin Bao San yelled, shutting his eyes tightly expecting to be hit.

Da Dong immediately released Jin Bao San with his eyes widened in shock, "What did you say?" he asked in disbelief.
"I was out the other day and bumped into her, she was like a completely different person," Jin Bao San babbled, nervously, "She spoke to us with a smiley face and gave us lollipops and she looked at us and made eye contact with us and her gaze was fixated unlike her usual slightly off gaze at school!" he admitted, speaking quickly, "Dong Ge, she didn't look like a blind person! If you saw her you would know she wasn't blind!"

Da Dong didn't know what to say, he was surprised but was he going to believe Jin Bao San? He spoke the most rubbish but this time he felt like he was telling the truth. But why would Yu Yan lie about such a thing? If she wasn't blind and was really the attacker, why would she help them? It didn't make sense. If she was going undercover, wouldn't she have tried to mix with everyone to hide herself instead of sticking out like a sore thumb? Who was she really? He thought it was weird that a blind would enroll in Zhong Ji Yi Ban - what was her true motive? What was her true intention? And what about Xiao Yu? He knew that his friend was becoming friends with her - was that putting him in danger? He couldn't allow Xiao Yu to befriend her alone, now he would definitely join him in order to keep an eye on Yu Yan.

"I didn't do it for you."

Suddenly, his mind went back to the time Yu Yan had fought against the Blue Pickles. She had defeated them effortlessly and denied helping them. What if she really didn't have any intention of saving them but help herself do something else? If she stole battle points like Xia Ba had said then wouldn't the Blue Pickles be in danger if Yu Yan had such a power?

Upon thinking about this, Wang Da Dong rushed out of the room to find where the Blue Pickles were resting in the hospital. He didn't need to look hard because he had come across 2 of them when he went to the receptionist. One was wrapped in bandages from head to toe, in a wheel chair, whilst the other almost as badly injured was pushing him. Their faces turned sour as soon as their eyes fell on the leader of Zhong Ji Yi Ban.
"What do you want Wang Da Dong?" the one standing up snarled, "Were our battle points not enough for you, you sly bastard?"

Da Dong's lips parted slightly, he was right. Something indeed had happened to their battle points. He clenched his fist tightly, hoping that the culprit was not Yu Yan. "What happened to your battle points?" He asked slowly for clarification, wanting to receive a socially desirable response of Yu Yan having nothing to do with it.
"What happened?" the Blue Pickle repeated with incredulity, "First you beat us up; then you get that girl to beat us up; then you steal our battle points and you have the nerve to ask what happened?"
Da Dong gritted his teeth, "Who said I stole your battle points? You have some nerve to even point fingers at me!" he barked, angrily.
"Where'd our yi neng go then?" he spat with a hard glare, "I used to respect you Wang Da Dong, in my eyes you were truly a righteous leader on the KO Charts but now you used such underhanded methods to regain your yi neng - you disgust me!"
Da Dong laughed mockingly, "I disgust you? You respect me?" he looked at them in the eye with ice cold daggers, "What right do you have to talk about righteousness and respect when you started this? You did the crime so you deal the time - don't put the blame on me to make yourself feel better."

"Then are you going to make us feel better? Are you going to return our battle points or do you want to risk going to war with the major high schools?" he questioned before turning around to leave, "Your choice."

~*~*~

Da Dong returned to school that afternoon and kept to himself. He lay in his hammock silently, thinking about the whole situation with Yu Yan. Surely she didn't steal yi neng. Perhaps she was just at the wrong place at the wrong time - there was no evidence to prove that it was her. He didn't want to believe that she was a threat to them all, he wanted to trust her. He would only believe it if there was evidence - but should he have to wait for evidence to be presented to him or should he find the evidence himself? He had to deal with the problem quickly because he couldn't leave it until his battle points were recovered as then he would be at risk and under threat. He had nothing to take so he would be left alone, but for how long?

Da Dong groaned in frustration, shaking a hand through his hair. He didn't know what to do, he wasn't a thinking person. He didn't like to think about things like this, what he needed was his brain, Zhong Ji Yi Ban's brain: Lei Ke Si. But where would he find his childhood friend? He had disappeared after the battle with Hei Long and who knew when he would return.

He sighed deciding to think about things later. Looking over at Yu Yan who was sleeping, he noticed Xiao Yu looking at her. He had no clear emotions present on his face but his eyes were drifting off from the board to the girl slumped on her desk in front of him. He noticed that his friend wasn't taking many notes. He smiled to himself, he could feel a friendship growing between those two and he was happy for his usually quiet and shy friend. Maybe his brother could break out of his introverted shell by developing a bond with the new girl who was difficult to talk to.

Ya Se had his eyes on Xiao Yu too, he could also feel it. The atmosphere around Xiao Yu was different, if only by a little, but there was a change and that change would grow more noticeable in the coming future. Whether Jiang Yu Yan was an enemy or not, change was inevitable.
