“I have your daughter. You must do everything I say or she dies.” My heart stopped. He was actually doing it. I wasn’t scared about being found anymore. I was scared for these two guys whose futures will be ruined once my dad catches them, which he will do without any problems. My father is a very influential man and he has very important contacts.

I heard mumbling on the other side of the phone. I unconsciously moved towards Minho, trying to make out what my dad was saying. “Excuse me?” Minho’s voice said surprised. "What?” he said after a short pause “I said I would kill her.” I flinched at those words. I knew he didn’t mean them but it was still upsetting to hear. “Ah-ah-I … what?” I inched even closer but still couldn’t hear except for some mumbles. Soohyun tried to push past me also interested in finding out what’s going on.

“What is he saying?” he whispered in my ear.

“I don’t know I can’t hear anything either,” suddenly I heard a beep on the other side of the phone.

“You too,” Minho said to the finished call.

The three of us sat in silence for a couple of minutes before Soohyun finally asked, “Soooo,” he stretched out, “What did he say?”

Minho’s eyes snapped to me, piercing me with the anger in them.

“You,” he said pointing to me, “This is your own doing isn’t it?” He stood up from his chair and moved right up to me putting his face right in front of mine. I had the urge to lean in and kiss his luscious lips but I resisted, knowing he is about to accuse me of something I didn’t do.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I said. “I’ve done nothing wrong,” I continued, “Was it something my father said? What did he say?” Did my father refuse to save me? Did he hate me that much?

“You’re damn right it’s what he said” Minho said, “He told me to say ‘Hi’ to you, ask if you are having fun and that if I ever call again he was going to put my in a mental home,” anger boiled in his body.

“Mental home? Why a mental home? Are you sure you heard him right?” I asked totally confused. That sounded so unlike my father.

“You think I’m deaf?” he practically screamed at my face. All of a sudden a giggle burst out of Soohyun which turned into a loud guffaw. Minho and I looked at him as he rolled all over the floor clutching his stomach.

“I think your father got a little confused,” Minho muttered, “it should be this ape that is to be sent to a mental hospital, not me.” I looked at him and couldn’t help but let a giggle of my own escape. Once it happened I couldn't help but burst out laughing, collapsing on the floor next to a nearly breathless, hysterical Soohyun. From the corner of my eye I could see Minho blowing up his cheeks, trying not to laugh but failing miserably. We stayed like that for several minutes and then spent another five trying to get our breath back.

“Whoa,” said Soohyun first, breaking the silence, “this is the worst kidnapping of the history.”

“What exactly did my dad say?” I wondered now that my mind was clear again.

“Are you kidding me? You had your ear plastered to the phone the whole time!” Minho exclaimed but he didn’t sound angry, I could hear cheekiness in his voice and see it in his smouldering eyes.

“I could only hear muffles and random words,” I replied sheepishly. “Plus I was too nervous to listen too closely.” I said putting my eyes down embarrassed. He didn’t need to know my feelings: he didn’t care. I lifted my head and looked him in the eyes “Tell us everything.”

“Ah,” Minho sighed, rubbing his hands over his red face still recovering from all the laughter, “well, you know the first bit.  I told him that I have you and stuff.” He hesitated.

“Well…” I urged him on.

“And then he told me how nice and asked if you were enjoying my company.” I sure am, I thought. “Then he said something about this being a nice bit of Deja-vu, then I repeated I would kill you again and he called me a nice chap but then that it wouldn’t last once I’m put in a mental hospital with your crazy friend who he has been waiting for a long time to lock up somewhere yet due to her dad’s status, he can’t be bothered to go to all that trouble. After that he said that I would only get the money in my dreams. Then he said it was nice talking to me and hung up.” He took a deep breath, “You know the rest.”

   I froze; the words that he just told me were sinking in, realisation dawning on me. Deja-vu is exactly what I would call it. A giggle escaped my lips. I tried to cover it up with a cough but unfortunately the guys noticed it. Minho looked hard at me with accusation in his eyes.

“Is there something we should know?” he growled. “Something important like, um, I don’t know, your father not wanting to bail you out?” By the end of the sentence, his voice reached an octave higher than the normal human range. It was funny seeing him so unreserved and I couldn’t help another giggle tumbling out. He clearly didn’t find it funny because he stormed towards me and trapped me between the table and his hard body. I could feel the heat radiating off him and even though knowing it was anger fuelling him, I couldn’t resist feeling happiness as this was better than him acting as if I didn’t exist.

“You know,” he began, “it really pisses me off when I talk to you and you space out, leaving me hanging. Do you do it to everyone? Or am I ‘special’?”

“Oooh, special.” Soohyun sang. Once again I felt guilty for forgetting he was there. These boys are driving me insane. Usually I am very observant yet the two of them…they…it’s like they have some weird spell over me that makes me ignorant and not me-like.

“And here she goes again. Are you listening to me?” I turned my eyes to his face. “Have you heard a thing I just said?” he heaved a sigh. “This girl is useless.  It’s your fault Soohyun, for picking the stupidest creature out there.” My heart clenched. Insults like this usually pass me by, yet this one hurt.

“Aww, come on. You told me to choose the richest heiress and here you go,” he waved his hand towards me.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered, but they didn’t appear to hear me.

“Only someone as idiotic as you could have found someone with an even smaller brain than a fish.” My eyes started to tear.

“Aww, come on! You don’t have to be so mean. She’s right there.” Soohyun complained.

“Well I wish she wasn’t.” I couldn’t take his nastiness anymore.

“I’M SORRY!” That shut them up. “I’m sorry that you are so disappointed and that I am such a wreck. But don’t go blaming me for the stupid mistakes you made!” I spat.

“We didn’t-,” Soohyun started.

“NO!” I interrupted, “I wasn’t done talking.” I took a deep breath, “You are the ones that dragged me into this so don’t go making me feel even worse than I already do.” I edged closer to them, “I know your faces so even once you’ve gone, the whole world would know they are the ones of criminals with a click of my fingers.” And to demonstrate it, I snapped my fingers in front of their faces making them stumble back in surprise. Feeling tears prick in my eyes, I turned around and walked out the kitchen to my cell, not wanting them to see me cry. I slammed the door behind me and collapsed on the bed. How dare they treat me like this? I’ve been insulted many times but No one before made me feel so miserable and crushed. A couple of minutes after, I heard a gentle knock on the door.

“GO AWAY!” I shouted. The door opened anyhow. I felt the bed dip and a hand my hair. I didn’t bother pushing it away.

“Don’t cry.” Soohyun cooed. “You know he didn’t mean anything he said. He’s got a bad temper and gets mad easily.”

“He doesn’t even know me. How can he judge me like this?” I said, tunring around to face him.

“You know, he feels really guilty about it now.” He chuckled. “You can hear him pacing outside your door.” I listened carefully and heard the soft shuffling of feet. “Would you come out?”

I sat up on the bed and brushed my hand through my hair. “I probably look a mess right now. I don’t want you thinking I’m ugly as well, do I?” I mocked.

“Aww, cutie pie, we would never think that. When I was picking out an heiress, I also made sure to pick the most beautiful one.” I blushed hard, turning my face away so he wouldn’t see how red it was. He definitely knew how to make me feel better.

“Alright, I’ll come out. And we’re going to talk. Plus I still haven’t tried your delicious cooking.”

I stood up and he draped his arm over my shoulders. “Finally, someone who appreciates my effort.” We walked out with me feeling much better than before. I saw Minho stumble back from the door as we exited. He gave me an apologetic smile which fell as soon as he saw the closed distance between me and Soohyun. “We have to talk.” He said, walking towards the big sofas, “You’ve still to explain to us the situation with your father.”

“It’s… quite a funny story.” Minho glared at me. Okay, I thought, maybe not as funny as it used to be. “It might take a while to explain.”

“We’ve got time.” He stated. I gave out a long sigh and began my tale.
