“Don’t you think it’s a bit sad that we’re almost the end of our year?” Seulgi sighed.

“Soon enough, we will be going to college and then start working and then get married…”

“Let’s just stick to the college first, all right?” Yuri commented and Seulgi rolled her eyes.

“I’m just saying.”

“But yeah…like she said, the end of our year is coming and…I don’t know if I could ever see you guys again.” Inhae said after.

The gang silenced.

Inhae felt High School was the best thing that had ever happened in her life, even if she felt like hell. Because, when she comes to school, she would have her friends, she finally knew the meaning of friends and…she got to meet him again.

Jongin.

He was the reason of why she would be smiling in the morning, because she had seen his stupid face. He was the reason that she would be blushing like crazy just because of a simple act that he does.

And she would be all happy because Jongin was just there.

And she didn’t know if the end of her high school year was a good thing – because she won’t be seeing him again. Maybe it was for the better, but she still couldn’t shake the heavy feelings in her heart of knowing that she won’t see him again.

The fact that they would be graduating soon never felt so real until Inhae finally seeking some college website with Seulgi.

“Where do you want to go?”

Inhae had shrugged. She doesn’t really have much choice. She has an average grades so she couldn’t be going to a prestigious college and she doesn’t really have any talent in sports or art to go to special college.

“I take what I can get.”

“You seem rather relaxed with this.”

Inhae shrugged again.

It seemed like forever talking about choosing a college and Seulgi always complained that no college would accepted her in which Inhae would just rolled her eyes and told her that – she was smart, any college would love to take her in.

Inhae didn’t know if she and Seulgi’s talking about college would grab someone’s attention, because clearly – it wasn’t that interesting to be look at. But, Inhae felt it.

You know when you’re being watched. The feeling of it and Inhae’s sixth sense was telling her the exact same thing – someone was watching her.

She paused at laughing on Seulgi’s joke and glanced up – almost quickly, Jongin looked away.

Inhae’s lips went dry.

Jongin looked in front of the class. His back was leaning against the wall and his fingers tapped on the desk.

Inhae could have sworn she saw him looking at her way. She saw it. She really did.

Was he looking at her?

Was he staring at her laughing?

Did he find her amusing?

Did he find her pretty?

Inhae felt giddy, like she was flying.

She wanted to say otherwise, but her other self was busy feeling so happy that she forgot everything.

Inhae felt like her brain was splitting into two when the school had ended. It wasn’t because she was too tired of the classes but rather the constant selfies that she had to endure.

They said that it was for the memories, but Inhae felt like it was just to update on the social network before deleting it for not having enough space – like Seulgi was doing, she had already updated the pictures online.

Inhae didn’t say anything of course and just let the girl be.

“Inhae!”

The said girl stopped, turning around.

“Hey,” Seolhyun smiled.

Inhae had wondered why the girl suddenly called for her and it turned out that she wanted to borrow some money and when Inhae had asked what for, the girl just pointed at Jongin and Sehun that was walking at the back.

“I need to pay Jongin to buy something for me.” Seolhyun rolled her eyes. “But don’t worry, I’ll pay it back to you tomorrow.”

Inhae had no trouble on helping her, and she gave the exact money that the girl had asked for. She could hear the boys getting nearer and her heart thumped.

Just the thought of getting near him excited her so much.

“This is the money. Don’t forget to buy it for me tomorrow.”

Inhae wanted to know what the thing that Seolhyun had asked Jongin to buy, but when she heard Jongin’s soft humming – she just decided it’s better to not know and just get away from them, or more exactly – him.

She was already walking away when she heard Seolhyun calling for her name again and she turned. The girl smiled, waved and yelled that she’s gonna pay it tomorrow before walking to the other direction.

Inhae had just smiled, of course.

Jongin’s soft humming run smooth to her ears and she swore her heart stopped when he walked passed her.

“I’m falling for you…I didn’t realize it…now I need you…”

She stopped walking when Jongin’s soft voice sang.

It was just a song.

It was just a stupid song.

It didn’t mean anything.

Stop thinking about it.

Just stop thinking about it.

Inhae just watched him walked away.

Chapter 21: All along the chapters, it seemed like Jongin likes her?? But maybe he thought she didn't like him or something? It's really mysterious because his friends seemed to know, or it could be that Sehun also likes her? Damn hahahaha. But unrequited love is really hurt, but she seemed happy and more lively now. Hopefully she'll find someone.

Chapter 21: This is the first character that ever feel so close to me. I am exactly in the same situations like her. So the lesson I learned here, is not being too hard on yourself. I need to accept that he will always be in my heart but not in my life. Thank you for the great story.

Chapter 21: PS: I had no idea Jongin would be a perfect character for a high school crush slash heartbreak. But you have written him so nicely that I felt I had a crush on him too xD

I love this fic, author, thank you so much!

Chapter 21: That being said, I miss them so much... They were so cute despite him being a jerk. Isn't that what we all wish though? That somehow the "bad boy" would soften at the girl? Okay maybe not everyone's wish, but I am a er for that!

All in all I really loved this fic. I'll probably read it again when I want to have butterflies in my stomach. It was bittersweet and although the storyline was simple, all emotions were raw and real. It goes to show that even though High School seems like a moment we'll forget because most of us have been young and did crazy stuff, an age where we don't really know anything, I also think it has shaped Inhae beautifully. She turned from bumbling shy girl to an amazing woman.

Also this fic reminds me of a Thai movie called, "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" Both are sooooo beautiful and all the characters are just amazing in their own ways.

I'm honestly going to miss Jongin and Inhae so much >.< Here is to High School crushes that broke our hearts!

Chapter 21: As for Jongin, well, WOW. I do have a lot to say. If I'm gonna be honest, I don't think he ever liked her at all. Sometimes love makes us look through life in pink tinted shades that we don't get to see the true colors of it anymore, unless we actually look hard enough. Perhaps his actions, their small interactions, and even his behavior was interprered differently by Inhae. I mean, she liked him, and its totally naturally to make 100 out of a 0 when it comes to the people we like. Its natural. She wont be able to help it.

Seeing as we only saw this from Inhae's POV tho, my interpretation of it was that those moments didn't mean MUCH to Jongin. Not to say that he didn't care about her, because I'm sure he did, perhaps just not as the same level as her. Like he looked for her, he acted weird around her, and sometimes his words, paired with his behavior, just seems way too intentional to be called a coincidence. I think he may have liked her, probably found her cute or still had the flurries of a childhood crush, but nothing too serious. Like, he has a girlfriend. It could be that he really liked his gf or he dated her to up his image and to feel like he got the prettiest girl. You know, typical teenage boy in high school

Chapter 21: I'm just...I'm sad? But I'm also...happy because Inhae is happy now. Like if we look back in her youth that was mostly Jongin days, she lost the energy to study hard and looked down on herself a lot. She had a lot of fears, hesitation, compared herself often to other girls, and she wasn't confident.

I really REALLY wanted them to be together, that much has not changed a bit, but the ending seems like it would be the best for Inhae. In a way I'm glad that she never knew his answer and assumed things herself, because Seulgi is right, she's a totally different person now. Inhae is happy, she's confident, and she is shining like a star. I am so proud of her and how far she's come. It wasn't easy for her but she pushed through and I'm so glad she's in a much better place now

I hope Jongin remains a beautiful memory to her, even if she lost him
