Umbrella to Your Rain
Our House [One-Shot/Drabble Collection]It is currently 7:02AM and Junhee wants to cry.
She’s running real late.
7:02AM: Junhee rushes into one of the second floor shared bathrooms with colorful words targeted at her alarm clock.
7:03AM: She hops into the shower for a quick rinse.
7:14AM: Junhee dashes to her room in nothing but a towel as she had forgotten to take a change of clothes into the bathroom.
7:15AM: It seems it has also slipped her mind the night before to lay out a change of clothes. Her room is now a mess (then it already is).
7:17AM: Junhee is half dressed in her white blouse that isn’t button all the way up and her black skirt that isn’t even zipped either. She scurries back to the bathroom to finish drying her hair.
7:20AM: Junhee is hopping out of the bathroom as she tries to fit her hips into the pencil skirt. She shuffles into her bedroom once more to place her pantyhose on that she had forgotten to place on before her skirt. She opts to the knee-high pantyhose.
7:20AM: Her pantyhose rip and Junhee, in her fit of rage, rips them even more. She wants to cry.
7:21AM: Junhee leaves her bedroom; her blouse is button and tucked into her dark skirt. Since she isn’t going to wear her pantyhose, she switches to those small skin color socks that will be hidden thanks to her choice in high heels. She throws the matching heels towards the stairs (one of them falls down the stairs) and rushes to the bathroom once more to complete her hairstyle and make-up.
7:26AM: It takes Junhee about five minutes to settle upon a hairstyle she deems as neat. Her chestnut colored hair is left in its natural straightness, bangs combed to cover her forehead and an even amount of hairs is pulled back from the side of her head to form a point. She places her hair extensions to the point for a bouncy ponytail. Her make-up leaning more toward the tone.
7:28AM: She curses her reflection for moving too much.
7:29AM: She wants to cry. She’s gunna be late. She’s gunna lose her chance at her very first substituting without supervision. God, kill her now.
7:32AM: Junhee touches up her make-up once more before leaning away. She gives herself a once over and nods. It’ll do. She thinks bitterly.
7:33AM: She slips in her socks down the stairs with one heel in her hand.
7:35AM: Junhee stays at the first step with her hands covering her face. She wants to cry. She doesn’t want to go anymore. She’s lost. She can’t even remember where she put her keys and her handbag with all her school materials. God, she’s a mess right now.
The jingle of keys calls her attention.
Junhee snaps her head up towards the sound and is welcomed by the sight of Kris at the front door with her keys, handbag and the other missing heel. The tall woman is dressed casually with skinny rip jeans, a white tank top under a jacket and a pair of sneakers.
She wants to cry.
Junhee sniffles her stuffy nose as she takes the heel from Kris’ outstretch hand.
“Thank you…” she says shyly. She sits on the single step and buckles her heels on.
“What would you do without me, Junnie.” Kris’ husky voice is something Junhee will have to learn to grow accustom to, if the fluttering butterflies in her stomach have anything to say.
The smaller woman rises to lean forward and grab her keys from Kris’ hand but they move away.
“Nah-uh, I’m driving you today.” Junhee only raises an brow as Kris turns and heads out the door.
It’s only been three weeks since Wu Kris has moved in and Kim Junhee is ever so thankful to Kris.
(“I thought you had morning classes, Kris?”
“Professor canceled.”
“Huh…”)
