The Dancer

Destined Cards

A/N: Hey ya'll! So sorry about this SUPER late update!! Just really busy with classes and stuff. I actuall Wanted to make this a triple update but I think ya'll deserve one soon and a triple update would take me longer to write. But I might be able to do it next time! For now, hope ya'll like this chapter!

Emory's POV:

“Let me get this straight…” N raised a brow. “You just happened to wake up and find it under your pillow?”

I nodded frantically. We were all once again sitting at the kitchen table looking down at my newly obtained Warrior’s Card. Right after Heejun recovered from his shock we both dashed down stairs, screaming at the top of our lungs that I had found a new Card and didn’t know what to do. Thankfully N, Leo and Allissa were already up. Everyone else woke up due to the commotion and staggered sleepily down the stairs to see what was up. I felt a bit guilty seeing everyone still in their pajamas but the mystery of the second Card was a too important at the moment. Right now, N was trying to get over the fact that it just popped up out of nowhere, which confused me too. It felt like it wanted to be found by me… Warrior Cards aren’t supposed to do that.

“His Card does sort of resemble yours, Heejun.” Rori hummed in thought, not caring that Jungkook and V were smiling in amusement at her baby pink Piglet PJ’s. “You sure you know which Deck Mate he is?”

Heejun nodded. “Jihun-hyung- the Card’s title gave it away.”

“ ‘The Dancer’?” I asked. He nodded. “Back when we were humans, we had this hobby that we did together that involved dancing. Jihun-hyung was the one that choreographed everything we did.”

There was a distant look in his eye that made me question if that was a memory that he never forgot or something that he recalled once he saw his Deck Mate’s Card.

“Well even though the situation is super bizarre…” Ravi leaned back, crossing his arms behind his head grumpily. A bit irritated about being woke up earlier than he planned. “I don’t have any ideas that could be considered as answers. So why don’t we just move on with the Bonding already, let the poor guy out and figure everything out once we get him settled in? The faster we do that the sooner I can go back to sleep.”

Everyone grew quiet as I shot Heejun a look asking what he thought. He returned it with determined-yet visibly nervous- eyes and a nod of his head. Taking a deep breath I grabbed the small knife that Allissa gave me, made a small cut on my thumb and let a drop fall onto the Card. It illuminated a bright white light before levitating to my face. The gold lines retreated back to reveal a picture of a familiar blonde man. He was posed with one leg stretched out behind him and both arms reaching out gently at both sides, as if he was dancing to a slow but emotional song. His fluffy blonde hair and pale skin stood out against his black V-neck and dark skinny jeans. He was dancing in what seemed like a windy meadow with mountains covering the horizon and a light blueish grey sky. My eyes moved further down the look at the name under ‘The Dancer’. Sure enough, there it was… written in gold.

Kim Jihun

Gently, I grabbed the Card out of the air, stood up from my seat and walked to an area in the kitchen with more room. Thankfully, Heejun stood up too and rushed to stand by my side. I guess it was his way of saying that I wasn’t going to go through it alone.

I gave him one last considerate look before pressing my lips to the unnaturally warm surface of the Card and waited.

Just like in my visions, Jihun was tall and elegant. He towered over Heejun by half a head, his black shirt and pants-which I noticed were slightly too small on him- were worn and sported a few holes. His cheeks were sunken and his eyes seemed dead, just like Heejun’s had.

“Master…” He greeted in a monotonous way, getting on his knees and bowing his head. Next to me, Heejun shook. That’s when I knew; this was the first in a very long time that he’s seen Jihun face to face. Knowing what to do I grabbed his shoulder and gave him a small push forward. After I sent him an encouraging smile, he took another step and breathed in deeply.

“Hyung…” He called out in a shaky voice. But Jihun didn’t seem to hear it.

Heejun tried again, a bit louder than before. “Hyung…!”

This time the Warrior’s head bobbed a bit. Slowly, he looked up, eyes widening as he took in Heejun’s presence.

“Heejun…?” Jihun’s mouth gaped, confused. I noticed how his eyes shot from Heejun’s clean cut hair to the cloths that looked way to nice for a Warrior. “What…?”

Heejun fell to his knees and crawled to the older Warrior before pouncing on him like a child.

“Hyung!” Heejun hiccupped. He had locked Jihun into a tight embrace and was now sobbing into his shoulder. Jihun, still in shock, started to slowly pat his back. I couldn’t help but smile at the sight.

“Seems you’ve been missed, Jihun.” I softly chuckled, kneeling down so that I was eye-level with them.

“W-why…. He’s acting out of order….” Jihun stated. “Why aren’t you punishing him? Why is he wearing these cloths? Just…. Why?”

“Because I refuse to treat you guys like slaves.” I explained, gently. “You deserve so much more than to be treated horribly.”

I couldn’t help but grin at the incredulous look he was giving me.

“You’re probably thinking how weird this all is, huh?”

“Uh-huh.” He nodded blankly.

“She’s telling the truth, Hyung.” Heejun finally let go of Jihun and sat back, wiping his tear-stained cheeks. “At first, I didn’t believe her either but… after staying with all of them for a while…” he motioned to the kitchen table, making Jihun noticed my sisters and the other Warriors sitting nearby, watching.

“I realized that they aren’t as bad as I thought. They’re kind and thoughtful…. but also, idiotic.”

“Hey!” I wined. The crybaby face he had on was quickly replaced by a teasing grin. “Well I’m right, aren’t I? What Deck Master goes and gets herself stabbed, knowing full well that Warriors have fast healing abilities?”

“You’re never gonna let me live that down are you?” I grumbled. But Heejun just smirked and stood up. Jihun, after quietly watching our interaction, spoke up again.

“You… you risked your life… to save his?”

My eyes softened as I gazed into his cautious ones. That’s when I noticed how they were miss-matched. How cute!

“Yeah.” I replied. “And I-“

“Don’t you DARE say that you would do it for him too.” Heejun cut me off with a glare. “You promised. Remember?”

“Ehehe… Right.” I scratched my head sheepishly before turning back to Jihun. “Anyway. In this house, we’re a family. And families protect each other, right?”

I stood up and held out my hand to him. “What do you say, Jihun? Wanna join? I know it’s not much but… I’ll try my best to make it enough.”

Jihun took another quick look around in thought before staring at my outstretched hand. I couldn’t hide the grin that grew on my face when his hand raised up to meet mine. His large hand firmly gripped my smaller one as I yanked him up to stand.

“Welcome to the family, Jihun.”

“Heejun, stop it!” I scolded for what seemed like the 5th time since we’ve gotten in the car. The Young Warrior thought that Jihun’s nervousness about being in a car was so amusing that he kept trying to scare him at every possible moment.

“What? It’s funny!” Heejun defended with a laugh. Giving Heejun a quick judging look, I leaned over and started rubbing Jihun’s back in comfort. The older Warrior was now crouched over with his eyes tightly closed and fingers plugging his ears.

“Need I remind you that YOU were also scared during your first car ride?” I asked with narrowed eyes. He blew me off in response. “I wasn’t this bad though.”

I shook my head in exasperation before turning my attention back to Jihun. He was shaking now and my back rub didn’t seem to help.

“Scratch, don’t rub.” Heejun said after he saw the worried look on my face.

“What?” I asked, both surprised and confused.

“Jihun-hyung likes to have his back scratched.” He explained. “He made Seungjun-hyung do it all the time…. back when we were humans.”

I looked at Jihun curiously before arching my fingers and softly scratching up and down. It worked; his body quickly relaxed and I could hear a soft sight escape his lips.

Huh.

It wasn’t much longer till N finally parked the car in the parking lot of our destination: The Mall. We all knew that Jihun was too tall to fit into N or leo’s clothes, so we all climbed into two separate cars and headed out to buy some. The only one who didn’t come was Ravi, who rushed back to his room once our ‘meeting’ was finished.

After N turned off the ignition, I reached my hand towards the door handle. But before I could even open it, Heejun had rushed out and did it for me.

“You’re still injured.” Was all he said when I shot him a questioning look. Knowing that it was better to accept his help, I took his outstretched hand and let him gently pull me out of the vehicle. When I turned to help Jihun out, Heejun pulled me away and glared while ordering me to stay put. I crossed my arms and pouted while I watched the younger Warrior help his hyung, who was still shaking from nerves.

“You ok there, Jihun?” Allissa asked after she slammed the passenger side door shut. The poor Warrior nodded and sent me a weak smile when I started to scratch his back again.

“C’mon!” N motioned us to follow him. “Let’s meet back up with Leo and the others and start shopping!”

I took both my Warriors by the hand and followed the others into the first men’s clothing store we could find.

“What do you think of these, Jihun?” I asked, reaching for a pair of dark blue ripped jeans. I held them up to his waist and frowned ‘cause I couldn’t tell if they would fit or not. The hard thing about picking out clothes for Jihun was that it was hard to find pants that fit around the waist and were long enough for his legs. Instead of answering me he instead just shrugged lazily and looked down at the jeans like he didn’t know what planet they came from.

“Heejun, help!” I called for the other Warrior who went off to look at shirts. About a minute later he came rushing back, wide eyed. “What’s wrong?!”

I gestured to Jihun, who was now observing the pants like they were a kind of scientific specimen. “I need help choosing cloths for Jihun. Do you happen to remember what his style was like?”

He shot me an annoyed look for the false scare before staring at his hyung in thought. “Hmm…. Nope. Not a clue.”

I sighed in defeat. “Fine. Looks like we’re just gonna have to wing it.”

The next thirty minutes were spent checking all the clothes wracks and shelves looking for clothes that would fit the tall Warrior. Then, after getting what we found, we spent another thirty minutes at another store looking for more. Poor Jihun had to suffer trying on probably over 100 pair of different shirts and jeans and maybe over 20 pairs of shoes before I was finally satisfied with the wardrobe we had collected. It was now past lunch and we were all getting kind of hungry. So, after meeting back up with everyone else, we all headed over to the mall’s cafeteria for a bite to eat.

“What’s wrong, Jihun?” Rori asked all of a sudden. I looked up from my Teriyaki chicken to find the said Warrior starring down at the multiple bags filled with clothes that we had piled up on the chair next to him. He looked concerned.

“Is it really ok for me to have these?” The Warrior asked as he looked back up and met my eyes. “They look like they’re really expensive…”

“Don’t worry, Hyung.” Jungkook, who was sitting on Jihun’s other side, patted his back reassuringly. “Noona’s family comes from old money. So, we’re never gonna have to worry about money issues.”

“Old Money?” Jihun raised his brow, confused. I stared intently at my chicken, knowing well that both of my Warriors were sending me questioning looks.

“It means that her family comes from a long line of rich people.” Jungkook explained, snickering at how the red on Allissa and Rori’s faces grew darker. My sisters and I hate the idea of being labeled as an ‘old money’ family, though we did admit that it came in handy sometimes. A look of understanding crossed Jihun’s face and I used the opportunity to change the subject.

“So, Jihun!” I smiled at him when his eyes shot back to me. “What do you like to do to have fun?”

Once again, confusion overtook his face and he stared at me like I had spoken another language.

“You don’t remember, do you…” I sighed, trying to think of something else.

“Hyung likes to dance.” Heejun spoke up after taking a sip of his soda. That made me perk up as I recalled what his Card’s title was.

“Oh! Yeah! That’s right! Is that why you’re called ‘The Dancer’?” I leaned closer to him and grinned expectantly.

It was hard not to notice the pink tint that now lit his cheeks. “I guess…. Yeah…. But I haven’t done it in a long time so…”

He turned away and stared sadly at his food. I looked next to me at Heejun, who met my concerned gaze. We now both understood that, to Jihun, dancing was a hard topic to talk about. But before I could think about other topics, I heard Rori squeak and drop her fork in surprise. We all turned to see her staring wide eyed at a Warrior’s Card…. Hovering right in front of her face. From where I was sitting, I could only see the Card’s back which was pure white except for the little color from squiggly lines. The thing about the lines, though, is that they formed to make the shape of a butterfly flying in the wind. I tipped my head thinking that it looked a bit familiar just as Allissa gasped, making us all turn to her now. My mouth dropped open in shock when I saw another Warrior’s Card floating in front of my older sister’s face. Of course, this one was a lot different compared to Rori’s. The background was a mixture of grey and black with a white chain-like border and symbols of what seemed like a small flash placed in each corner. But, what had my attention the most, was the weird looking rusty gold hexagon that was smack dab in the middle of the Card.

I knew that hexagon. It was the same one that Ravi, Leo, and N had on their Cards.

That’s when I realized why I thought the Card in front of Rori looked familiar. Although they had a few differences, I was sure that V and Jungkook’s Cards were just like it. My suspicions were confirmed when I heard Jungkook in a quick breath, eyes wide in shock. For a few seconds, no one spoke as all of our eyes went from one new Card to the other and back.

Then, finally, V lifted his hand to point at the Card in front of Rori.

“W-wait…” He stuttered a bit. “Isn’t that-“

Suddenly, a loud BOOM! Blasted throughout the mall, cutting off V mid-sentence and making us all jump in surprise. What followed were many frightened screams and the sound of feet rushing to the exits.

“Wha-what’s going on?” Rori frowned with worry as Jungkook threw a protective arm over her shoulders, pulling her close to him.

“Over there!” I yelled and pointed to the lobby that was close by. Smoke and debris flew everywhere, making it a bit hard to see. But, soon enough, two figures shot out of the dusty smoke and were slowly getting closer to us. From both the speed and nature that they were moving at, I was able to conclude two things.

One…

They were both Warriors…

And two….

They were in the middle of a deul….

Dun dun DUN!!!! Another cliff hanger! (sorry not sorry... lol) Alright who do ya'll think are the two Warriors? Hint: they belong to the BTS and VIXX decks!
