Les Fleurs du Mal
Description
That spring should have been perfect: cherries in full blossom and her husband-to-be on his way to her hometown, wearing his shiny armor on his groomed horse just so that he could sweep her off her feet and take her away to what was going to be the perfect life.
That spring should have had perfect weather, birds singing alongside with the village people praising her beauty and fortune.
That spring, the very day war broke, birds stopped singing and people started screaming.
That spring everything was set on fire: her whole life, her heart too.
That spring Lady Hwang began learning that living and loving are just other types of wars.
Foreword
“Choose wisely, my daughter,” her father had advised her with a gentle smile the day he came to ask for her hand in marriage.
“But how will I know he is the one who can make me happy?” She frowned, not understanding the silence of her parent. Such freedom all of a sudden, for her to determine her own fate – it was frightening and yet somewhat thrilling!
“You do not. You cannot. And that is alright.” He was smiling discretely, as if seeing past the moment he was living and further into her life.
But that was then, a million years before it seemed. Now a king was demanding her answer when she had none but her determination to cling on whatever was left of the former shine of her life.
Was it fated? Was it really fated?
Blood ties and betrayal, a true historical battle for the throne. Princes turn paupers, peasants turn kings while the only sacred flower blossoms hidden from the world. Will love prevail or will the flowers of evil spread their poisonous distrust?
Fair warning: slow cooked story and long as well!
