Chapter 5
Holding OnIt has been a week since the manager hasn't directly talked to Sojung unless needed. He felt so frustrated everytime he sees her or hears her name. He felt frustrated thinking of her and the other kids he managed. Worried. Anxious. Anything related to her or the girls only reminded him of two things. Her illness. Her decision.
---------
"Doctor Kim, manager oppa.... please stop talking about me getting treatments. I will not get chemotherapy or radiation or any other treatment."
"KIM SO JUNG!" "Sojung-si....''
" Anniyeo. My decision is final. My group has just debuted and we formed a special bond. As the oldest and the leader they rely on me a lot. I don't want to bring the group down nor let anyone know, including the girls. Getting treatments will only make it obvious that I'm sick and maybe even make me sicker at times. Oppa if the girls find out do you think they'll be able to perform or even pretend to smile? Because I don't think so. There's no guarantee that my cancer will get treated anyway so I would rather be okay for a while now rather than to get treatments and get sick, unable to do anything and after all that, there's a possibility I won't be cured. Doctor I will take all the medicine you prescribe but that is all I will do. Nothing else. I know my illness will only worsen over time but please, respect my decision."
------------
The day Sojung found out about her illness she asked the CEO for a few days to think and accept the news. The CEO was understanding enough and let her go. He cared for the girls a lot and it hurt him knowing Sojung was sick yet he couldn't force her to get treatment.
Sojung left without a word while the members were out performing at a schedule. She didn't want to have to face them and try to lie once again as she would only end up in tears. She didn't have the energy to deal with anything and just left. No memos, no message on their groupchat. She had no plans on answering anyone until her mind was cleared.
All she wanted was for everything to go back to the time she was still healthy.
