Once upon a time,

I wished upon a blazing star.

I asked for fame, for fortune.

My wishes were never granted, yet

It was then that I met my sunshine,

The one who I speak of so fondly.

The one who sits next to me.

I realized that I was trying to objectify happiness.

I wanted to be happy.

That's what I got.

My sunshine held my hand through the darkness,

He whispered comforting words when all I could see was black.

His voice was melodic, it carried itself like birdsong.

Like the morning sun, he brightened my world.

Is what I've always wanted to say.

I've always tried to say it,

But that always sounded too final.

And it wasn't the end.

No, it was nowhere near the end.
