WARNING! There is violence in this chapter. It's not the first time I warn you, but this time, it's a bit harder.
“We're ready,” both Jimin and Ho Seok announced after coming back from checking the whole army.
I drifted my gaze to the other Creatures gathered. There were so many people that I couldn't see the end of the group. Can anyone really be ready for this...
Nam Joon stepped in my sight and observed me.
“There's no turning back now.” I said as I looked up to the angel. “Let's go.”
The massive crowd of Creatures flew up in the sky at Caranor's signal. Silmido was only five minutes away.
Both sides faced each other in silence. I would have preferred to talk things out. But it was clear now that Fyhdohr and his henchmen wouldn't listen.
After some time, the deity turned his back to us and looked up to the sky. Something, no someone, was coming. Then an androgynous Creature landed next to Fyhdohr.
Tae Hyung and Seok Jin immediately shout out one simple word, that made everyone gasp loudly: ‘Satan’.
“How the hell are you here?!!” the elf yelled, utter anger and hatred pinching his voice.
“Well. You see, I was able to contact the outside world. And I found Fyhdohr. So, to put it simply. Through a link I had created between us, I received half of the energy he was absorbing from the sacrifices.” Satan explained calmly, as if it was no big deal, and shrugged. “He didn't know about the link. And he didn't know that was the real reason why I told him to kill those Humans and Creatures. Since he's a fool.”
The real threat is in the shadow. That was the warning of the Shaman's prophecy. We couldn’t understand it back then. And we never imagined it would be this.
“Why are you glaring at me like that, Tae Hyung? It’s nice to see old acquaintances!” He raised his hands to point at the haetae and the elf with a nasty smile. “But you know, Seok Jin, it surprised me to see you here. Last time you didn’t do anything and just hid after all. Did you suddenly become brave? Were you bitten by some strange mosquito? No. You’re going to let your little girl here fight, like the coward you are? You know, she’ll just end up like Yeoshin...”
Seok Jin dug his fingernails into his palms and gritted his teeth with a grunt. I rushed to grab his fist, forcing him to open his hand, and squeezed his fingers in mine.
“Don’t listen to that . He’s not worth it.” I whispered. “Remember, he’s nothing but darkness, and doesn’t know what feelings are. I understand you. I know you’re not a coward. And the fact that you’re next to me right now is the proof.”
He moved his hand to close it around my hand softly. “Thanks to you, Yong Gi, now I know all this. And I won’t ever forget it.” Then he turned his gaze back to the fallen angel. “I’m more angry about the fact that this bastard is still out here, than about what he said.”
He was boiling furiously. I was too, and I felt the same anger coming from all the Creatures around us.
Satan noticed it. He smirked wickedly and gave a single nod to Fyhdohr.
I turned my head right and left to my eight companions, before turning to the creature behind me. “Change of plan. The nine of us will take on Satan. The rest of the Fyhdohr unit stays on him. Get ready.”
“Charge!!”
I span on my heels at Fyhdohr’s command. Among the mass of creatures that were coming our way, Satan was remaining still, watching the attack with a rictus.
I gestured to the others to follow me and took off. Satan was the priority to get rid of. Before he could decide to do something, we had to be fast to protect everyone.
“I won’t let you.”
Fyhdohr stopped us halfway. As always, full of confidence, he was grinning arrogantly. But his smug face disappeared almost immediately when a gust of fire engulfed his body and pushed him away violently.
“We got him!” shout Jennie. “Go!!”
I nodded at the elf.
Satan had been watching everything. “I was waiting for you,” he said as we arrived in front of him.
He was powerful. I could feel it, even meters away. The electricity his Maryeok was creating was sending endless chills on my whole body.
“Now that you’re here. How about we start?”
He tilted his head. Then, as if agreeing with himself, hummed.
Tae Hyung attacked first. In his magical form, he ran in the angel’s direction and spat fire at him. Satan blew wind with a move of his hand, making the fire vanish. Tae Hyung then leaped forward. But the other creature didn’t move and suddenly clenched his bare hands around his neck when the haetae was close enough. He squeezed it, until his long fingernails entered the skin, accompanied by a scream. Red blood and a green liquid came out. Satan smiled and threw Tae Hyung away.
He didn’t move. He didn’t stand up. Na Young cried out the boy’s name. And Satan snickered.
“His body probably won’t like the poison,” he declared casually and laughed as Ji Min flew over to Tae Hyung.
“We’re going to use the plan we had for Fyhdohr.” I told Na Young and the young men around me. “Let’s start.”
Jung Kook transformed into the Azure Dragon. He propelled himself in the air, with his long wings beating strongly, landed on Satan and closed his claws around him.
“You’re going to crush me? Try to resist that first.”
Jung Kook’s veins started glowing black and pulsing. His body stiffened, he groaned loudly. And his claws let go of the creature. He switched to the White Tiger’s form. Then jumped on Satan one more time, mouth wide open and sharp fangs ready to bite his head off. But he petrified the celestial, and his veins and body once again glowed, pulsed, stiffened, and trembled. Jung Kook yelled. He was forced back to his human form and collapsed in the dust.
Seok Jin started chanting and dark smoke appeared on Yoon Gi’s body.
“Na Young!” he called aloud. “Move him out of the way!”
She did it immediately, lifting the half-conscious man with telekinesis to take him far enough from the battle.
Brambles burst out of the ground under Satan’s feet. They wrapped around each of his limb, prickling red dots on his skin, and the smoke pouring out of Yoon Gi, and Seok Jin’s spell floated to the angel. The soundless, dark cloud was swallowed by Satan.
The brambles were then burnt down to ashes. When he opened his mouth again,
