A/N: I received my fifth upvote after the last update! But I lost track of the number of new subscribers haha! I'm sorry, but know that I sincerely thank all of you!!
I transformed the format of the story a little bit. This is important business (I always smile like an idiot when I see those two words because I think about Hobi in Bon Voyage lol) about updates, but don't worry it doesn't change much things: I'm just cutting the chapters in small parts ((1), (2), etc.). However, please note that my chapters are usually a bit long (around 2000 words) so those small parts aren't that small. I honestly think it's better like that, as much for you and for me, since you will get to read The Creatures more fequently (which is an honor, you know that <-please note the sarcasm as I proceed to get out), and I will be able to update more frequently. Which I would looooooove to do, seriously.
Let's go~
During Joseon, statues of a Korean mythological animal was believed to protect the capital from natural disasters and fire, and to save peoples from injustice. Humans’ representation of it was a fire-eating lion, covered, sometimes by fur, most of the time by scales, with one or two horns on the forehead, called Haetae. But it had been forgotten. That these descriptions were actually recorded by the very few people who had met one: Haetae are real, and the rarest Creatures.
They are born from the desperate wish of an human victim of injustice, whose heart and mind are pure of all malice. Haetae help the wisher, until no longer being needed, then hear the begs, not always earnest, of many others. They are able to clearly distinguish the good from the bad, to decide who to appear for and who to help, making them the symbol of justice.
We arrived to Daegu late yesterday. Ho Seok joined us today, in the afternoon. Then a few hours later, we left the hotel. After taking us from the town to one of its peripheral area, our guide (Seok Jin) had halted in front of a traditional Korean residence. The entrance was a large wooden door, about two meters high. Seok Jin had knocked, and a young woman appeared. I explained who we were and why we came, and now, she was gauging us. “What an original band,” she said to herself. Then her eyes stopped on the elf. “Aren’t you Kim Seok Jin-nim?” “I am but how do you-” “There is a drawing of you in Kim Tae Hyung-nim’s belongings.” Seok Jin nodded. He told us Kim Tae Hyung’s body had been entrusted to the descendants of the wisher who ‘created’ him, with their ancestor’s last wish to take care of him. She tilted her head and wondered aloud, “Still, you, of all people, is here, wanting him to join your group? Although you didn’t come even once to see your friend since he has been cursed.” The corners of my lips twitched. That was gutsy. And I was pretty sure she didn’t know what it could have risked her if the creature she was facing hadn't been as kind as Seok Jin. She apparently takes her ancestor’s last wish to heart, I thought, fully aware that Nam Joon would hear me. Well, guess it’s not really bad. The angel immediately agreed, Seems like it. But I’m not surprised. Since they’re a household that goes way back, they must be quite traditional. At least, the Haetae is safe for sure. Seok Jin’s head was hanging low, he had become completely silent. My first reaction was to tell her to mind her own business. But then I thought it would be a waste of time and energy, and probably make her even more reluctant to let us see Kim Tae Hyung. So I held back. “I won’t
