Nam Joon laid Ji Min down on a bed. And Na Young immediately handed me a brush and rectangular pieces of paper.
“You’re ready?” she asked.
“I better be, I practiced all night.”
“Yong Gi,” Nam Joon called gravely. “You have to start the sealing. Quickly.”
I nodded, leaving Na Young, and jogged to the bed. I knelt, to spread the papers on the mattress, and started drawing different runes on each of them. Then I put one or two on Ji Min and the rest around his unconscious body.
When an Angel was falling, their magic was corrupted. But Deities fortunately had a spiritual energy, with which they could create talismans, and perform a sealing: during the ritual, talismans were concealing the corruption and helping purifying it so that the Angel could fight against it.
And Ji Min did. But because of this internal fight, the angel fell sick. He had a high fever, he was sweating profusely, and his groaning, whining and twitching were showing the pain attacking his whole body. Even after three days, Ji Min remained unconscious.
I had decided to stay by the side of the young man. All I could do was wiping the sweat off his face, neck and arms, removing or putting a blanket on him, caressing his hair, patting his chest, and talking softly to soothe him at least a little bit.
Know yourself lucky, Park Ji Min. I’m not sweet to just anyone...
I took off a soaked tissue I had put on his forehead and threw it in the bin. Then shifting in my arm chair, I stretched out my body with a low grunt.
“I think I’m rusting,” I thought out loud and smiled at my own remark.
The bed sheets rustled behind me. Na Young stood up, dropping her phone on the nightstand, and asked, “When was the last time you slept?”
“Just before.”
“No. The last time you slept properly, in a bed, and for the amount of time you need to survive.”
She stopped on my left with a reprimanding look.
“I’m-”
“Obviously not fine,” cut the fairy.
“Oh! Hi, Op-” Her eyes traveled over the squad of young men. “I mean, guys!”
Tae Hyung entered first, almost pushing everyone out of the way, to give Na Young a big grin. Which she returned happily.
“Were you all out together?” I asked.
“No, we met in the hallway,” Seok Jin replied as he observed the unconscious silver-haired boy.
“Where is Yoon Gi?”
“He was sleeping. That’s his favorite thing to do, apparently.”
I smiled. “At this point, I had noticed a long time ago.”
Since we had been blocked in Busan for a few days, they had to busy themselves with whatever they could find. So, Ho Seok, Nam Joon, Tae Hyung and Seok Jin were hanging out, visiting, sightseeing or shopping, while Yoon Gi preferred to stay inside and do only himself knew what. Jung Kook, him, was either accompanying and guiding the outside quartet or coming in this room and stay with Na Young (who was adamant on not leaving me alone) and me. I think he also spent some time and talked with Yoon Gi in the hotel.
The six men, their heavy stares clearly giving what they wanted, and Na Young all gathered around the bed. My friend puffed her chest out, putting her hands on her hips, and looked down at me in a way that, I guessed, was supposed to be intimidating.
I scoffed at the girl. “Stop that, you’re not scary at all, you tiny bean.”
“Wait till I drop a truck on your head.”
We chuckled at her aggressive reaction.
Nam Joon then chimed in, “She’s right, though. You should rest.”
“But-”
“No buts!” suddenly exclaimed Seok Jin. “You listen to your elders.”
I rolled my eyes.
Tae Hyung, as he bent a little over Ji Min, declared, “We’ll watch over him, don’t worry.”
And Jung Kook patted my shoulder.
“How about we go to see my parents? I’m sure they miss you.”
A chorus of, ‘Yeah, good idea!’ appeared. And, next thing I knew, I was walking out of the hotel with Jung Kook.
“Yong Gi??”
I smiled. “It’s been a long time, Eomoni, Abeoji!”
Jung Kook’s parents stared at me in shock for a moment, seemingly unable to proceed that I was really standing before their eyes. Their son chuckled awkwardly and cleared his throat in an attempt to snap them out of their trance.
“H-How about we go inside?” he demanded with expectation.
“Oh! Yes!” exclaimed his mother. “Good timing, I just made rice cakes!”
She tried to laugh to hide her embarrassment. But it didn’t work really well, so she made an escape to the kitchen. Meanwhile, her husband, who didn’t like to hide things, just smiled with all the awkwardness he had in him and apologized.
“Sorry, Yong Gi. We just didn’t expect to see you again.”
“No, don’t worry. I couldn’t imagine this either.”
He smile
