That night, after preparing my bag and Lisa and Ji Soo had gone home, I had dinner with Yoon Gi, Nam Joon and Na Young, at a restaurant in the village. The two latter demanded what I had talked about with Seok Jin. I explained my ‘exchange’- if I could dare to call it like that, with the elf.
“He’s suffering from the past, obviously. It’d only be natural if he didn’t want to come, and we can’t force him,” I added. “But I think we’ll need him…”
“He didn’t clearly say that he won’t come,” remarked Nam Joon. “We should ask him first.”
Following the angel's conclusion, we went to find Seok Jin the next day. He was watering the plants in front of his parents’ tent. He turned to us when when we approached, then put the watering can down and walked away quietly. “Well, that’s what we call ‘being completely blanked’…” The goblin grunted and Na Young hid behind my back. “Next time you make that kind of joke, I’ll cut your tongue, human.” He turned to me and questioned, “What now?” I shook my head in renunciation, “It seems like it will be only the three of us.” “Four.” My eyes widened in great shock. I span around violently and lost my balance. The boys each caught one of my arm to keep me from falling. Na Young took a step forward. But I quickly stood back up and stared at her, brows furrowed, mouth dumbly opened, and unable to ask what that was about as I was waiting for further explanation. “Yeah. I will come with you,” she spoke confidently. “You said it yourself, you’ll need anyone who can fight. And I can learn.” “No! It’s too dangerous!” “But I’m not asking your permission, Yong Gi.” My shoulders slumped. She was serious. Nothing I could say would change her mind. “Ah here you are!” suddenly exclaimed a woman, making us all dart our eyes to find Nídhil, Seok Jin’s mother, looking and smiling at us. “I have something to tell you. Follow me,” she requested. We moved to her office, which, of course, was a tent, where she was taking care of and leading the tribe with her husband, Caranor, the Chief. There was a desk, some closets, but no chair, so we stayed up. “I’m sorry I can’t offer you to sit down.” I smiled politely, “It’s okay. You sit, Eomoni*.” She nodded, and, in return, appeared a quick smile on her lips. It was displaying a sorrow that wasn't hers, but a sorrow she was feeling for and sharing with a dear person. “I have something to tell you about Seok Jin,” she declared in a quiet breath. That explains why she seems so affected. “First, I suppose that he turned you down?” We nodded. “It’s not that he doesn’t want to go, I can promise it. He’s deeply hurt and wants to protect himself.” She looked down to her hands, sighing. “There is also something you need to know about Yeoshin’s and their friends’ death…” She stopped a few seconds, before asking, “I don’t think I need to ask the boys, but Yong Gi, Na Young, do you know about the Unnamed War?” “Yes.” “It was started by the only known to this day Fallen Angel, Satan. He had gathered Dark Elves, monsters, and any other Creature that had decided to take the way to do bad. After they were defeated, Satan flee. Then he killed Yeoshin.” She stopped once again, to swallow a nothing that seemed to bother her, then continued, “Six of her friends decided to fight him but Seok Jin refused. The others were able to defeat Satan and The Creator locked him away in the Underworld. But as you know, five of them died… Now Seok Jin is blaming himself.” My lids slowly fell close. I exhaled heavily. That’s why Seok Jin said I didn’t know anything… I was being nosy, and I literally felt like crap at the moment. “Why didn’t The Creator fight?” Na Young interrogated. “He’s powerful, right? He could’ve avoid those deaths?” “He cannot fight. The Creator is too powerful, He would destroy Earth and maybe even the neighboring planets.” Silence followed. Nam Joon watched, with empathy, Nídhil rub her eyes weakly, Yoon Gi quietly gazed in the empty space, arms crossed over his chest, and Na Young was now looking down at the ground and shifting uncomfortably from one foot to the other. But then the elf spoke again, “One last thing,” she said as if it was a request for us to listen. “About Yeoshin and Seok Jin’s
