“Donghwa, go take out the rubbish,” Mrs. Lee sighed as she and her sons came down the stairs

“Neh umma…” Donghwa quietly pulled the garbage outside. That’s when he saw them.

(There were two of them, both dressed in dark coats. One was secretly carrying a knife in their pocket, the other looked ashamed. They barged into the Lee household)

“What are you doing here?!” Donghae yelled as he saw who had broke into his home

“Get out of the way…”

“You are better than this- a knife?! Why do you have a knife?!”

“I SAID TO GET OUT OF THE WAY!” the one carrying the knife yelled

(They punched Donghae in the face and threatened Mrs. Lee with the knife that they produced out of their pocket)

“Shut your faces or all of you will get it. We only want that stupid girl and that’s it,” the person threatened

“Do-do we have to do this?” the ashamed one, nervously asked

“Shut up, it’s for everyone’s happiness” the one with the knife snapped, “Where is his stupid wife?”

“I’m sorry Donghae-ah…” Mrs. Lee apologized quietly to her beaten son, “she’s upstairs”

“Good,” the one with the knife purred, “If you wake Donghae up to come and rescue his wife, we’ll kill you too, understood?”

(Mrs. Lee nodded and kept shut. She watched the two go upstairs to where Yoona was sleeping. Mrs. Lee frantically ran out to search for Donghwa when she spotted him hiding behind the bins)

“Donghwa did they see you?” Mrs. Lee asked

“What did they want umma…” Donghwa whispered

“They want your sister-in-law. Your brother tried to stop them but they punched him…” Mrs. Lee started to cry

“Umma wait in the car, when everyone comes down, drive far away from here,” Donghwa told his mother

“W-what do you mean?”

(Donghwa ran into the house and saw his beaten brother on the floor)

“Hae, wake up. You have to wake up, they will kill Yoona and your baby if you don’t… Please… Please wake up….” Donghwa furiously shook his brother

“H-hyung… my face hurts…” Donghae’s eyes opened slightly

“They’re going to kill Yoona, get up Hae!” Donghwa desperately said

(Donghae’s eyes opened widely when those words finally reached his brain. He got up with Donghwa’s help and the brothers went upstairs. Donghae wanted to scream when he saw what the one with the knife was doing to Yoona but Donghwa slapped his hand on his mouth to shut him up)

“If you make a noise we’re all gone…” Donghwa told him

(Donghae didn’t want to play safe anymore. His love was about to be killed if he didn’t help her)

“Yoona!” Donghae shouted as he ran into the room

“Stay away or else your wife gets it,” they threatened to press the knife harder on Yoona’s throat

“What happened to you Eun Seo-ssi? You used to be my friend… What happened to you?” Donghae cried

“This princess made my cousin cry,” Eun Seo nodded towards Sunye who was quietly standing away

“You’re cousins?!” Donghae was surprised

“Y-yeobeo…” Yoona gave out a weak cry

“You’re hurting her! Stop it!” Donghae yelled

“That’s the whole point you idiot!”

“Kill me instead then…” Donghae pleaded

(Yoona widened her eyes and they gave Donghae a pleading look as if not to)

“What use is it to my Sunye if you’re dead? She loves you, not this brat,” Eun Seo said meanly

“Unnie I would rather see you dead than anyone else…” Sunye told her cousin

“What did you say?!”

(Beads of blood were appearing at Yoona’s throat)

“No… It’s true. I hate you. I now realise why so many people dislike me… I used to be a good person! Umma and Appa would always tell me how everyone said I was a good person! But when you moved in, I changed. I changed into a younger version of you, I realise it now. I don’t want to be you, you are nothing but a ….” Sunye told her without any emotion

“How could you say that?!” Eun Seo yelled and threw the knife down to the floor with anger, it narrowly missed her own foot

“I can say it because it’s true,” Sunye told her

“Fine… if that’s how you betray me…” Eun Seo took a match from her other pocket. She struck it against the box and it caught on fire.

“Take it back or else I’ll burn the whole place down,” Son Eun Seo said

(Sunye bit her lip and looked at Donghae who had already pulled Yoona away from Eun Seo)

“I-I…” Sunye stuttered

“She doesn’t take it back,” Donghwa suddenly came in

“Who are you?” Eun Seo raised an eyebrow

(Sunye blushed and looked away. Donghwa pushed her towards Yoona and Donghae)

“On the count of three, I want you and Donghae and Yoona to join my mother outside, when you hear screaming, that is your cue to run away. Understood?” he whispered in her ear

“Son Eun Seo-ssi,” he raised one finger behind his back

“What?”

“Sunye hates you because-” he raised a second finger

“Because what?!”

“You’re a who doesn’t have a heart,” Donghwa finally raised a third finger

(Eun Seo screamed and threw down the match, causing the room to catch fire. Donghae had already carried Yoona away from the burning room and outside to where their mother was waiting for them in the car)

“Donghwa you’ll die as well, let’s go!” Sunye pulled at Donghwa’s arm

“No… I don’t want to pretend anymore… I-I am nothing to this world…” he stayed put

“Don’t be stupid!” Sunye yelled

“Leave me or else you and I will die with your hell of a cousin…”

(Eun Seo who didn’t realise that she would die herself and was fanning the fire around her with her hands)

“Go away go away go away,” Son Eun Seo screamed at the fire that was surrounding her. She was never the smartest one…

“Leave me Sunye…” he urged

“No… No I-I can’t, I’m sorry for what I did to you but I-”

(Donghwa had slammed a box into her hand before pushing her out the door. She ran outside and clambered into the car where Donghae tried to calm Yoona down so he could treat her wound. There was a blood curdling scream followed by a loud thud. Sunye told Mrs. Lee to hurry up and Mrs. Lee sped away from the burning house)

“Sunye… What happened to my Donghwa?” Mrs. Lee was white

“He refused to leave…”

(Mrs. Lee gave a small cry like a small bird being shot with a gun)

“Yoona it will be okay, please don’t cry…” Donghae begged his wife as he cleaned her wound

(Yoona cried and Donghae who had been staying strong up until this point started to cry as well. Sunye opened the box Donghwa had put in her hand and couldn’t hold back her tears when she saw what it was. Inside was a wedding ring, the one that she had nagged him to buy when she was manipulating him.  It was all part of a stupid, heartless plan… But throughout that time… she now realised she loved him. She put it on her finger and stared at it)

“I love you Donghwa…” she murmured through her tears

(She looked into the night sky and saw a bright star gleaming at her. She took out a piece of paper that she had in her coat and, whilst trembling

She crossed it out. She turned the paper around and looked at the other checklist she had

PRIVATE CHECKLIST:

Make sure Yoona and Donghae stay together

She turned to look at the couple. Both had fallen asleep. Yoona’s head was on Donghae’s chest and his arms were around her. Sunye leaned over and wiped the blood of Donghae’s face with a tissue. She then sat back up and smiled as she crossed out that line out as well. She folded the paper again and leaned her head on the car window. They were now quite far away from the burning house but in the distance you could see an orange dot which was the fire rising. She fell asleep soon after)

“Sunye-ah… you are a good girl after all…” Mrs. Lee had been watching silently

(Then there was a bright white flash in the sky then it was gone. A star had burned out, nothing but black. But the star that was gleaming at Sunye before, was still shining, right next to the one that had burned out)

“Donghwa, take good care of Yoona and Donghae and their children, arasso?” Mrs. Lee muttered to that star

(The star gleamed again as if answering back)

“And take good care of Sunye, help her find happiness again…” Mrs. Lee looked at the sleeping girl at the back

(It gleamed one more time)

“And as for you Miss Son,” Mrs. Lee looked at the space where the other star had burned out, “you stay out of the way”

One Week After Incident – May 15^th

‘Near the heart of Mokpo, a family home has been destroyed by a fire. Neighbours said that before the fire struck there were loud bangs and screams. Other neighbours reported a female jumping out of a window whilst a male didn’t move. Police are currently investigating the report’

One Month After Incident – June 15^th

‘Police have decided to close this investigation. In an official release, they have declared as the incident a tragic accident’

Two Months After Incident – July 15^th

‘The two bodies discovered in the fire have finally been identified. Both are in their late 20s. The male is the brother of SM idol, Super Junior’s Lee Donghae. The female is the elder cousin JYP idol, Wonder Girl’s Sunye. The male’s family has already stepped forward to police whilst police are still waiting for the female’s family to come forward. The male’s funeral took place last Monday, with family and friends attending. The female’s family have not yet come forward meaning that no funeral has taken place’

“So no one went to get Eun Seo?” Yoona looked at the paper

“Guess not,” Donghae held Yoona’s hand, “I can’t believe that she tried to behead you…”

“I thought I was going to die…” Yoona confessed

“You probably would have, had not…” Donghae couldn’t finish his sentence

“Had not Donghwa helped” Yoona finished off his sentence whilst giving him a look of sympathy

“I can’t believe the babo refused to leave…” Donghae ran out to the balcony, “WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU HYUNG?! WHY WERE YOU SO STUPID TO END YOUR LIFE?!” Donghae cried to the night sky

“Donghae!” Yoona ran after him out of fear the neighbors would tell them off

“YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE JUST ENDING YOUR PAIN?! WELL WHAT ABOUT ME AND UMMA? YOU EXPECT ME TO ENDURE THE PAIN THAT YOU ARE NO LONGER HERE?!” Donghae yelled furiously out to the sky whilst his tears poured down

“Yeobeo please calm down,” Yoona put a hand on his shaking shoulder

“WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ME? YOU ARE A BIG PART OF MY LIFE AND NOW YOU JUST DECIDE TO LEAVE? HOW COULD YOU, YOU BASTARD?!” Donghae cried

“Yeobeo,” Yoona hugged him and soon enough he calmed down. He stopped shaking, his crying lessened and he looked at Yoona.

“Yoong… I miss him a lot…” Donghae told her

“Shh, I know you do yeobeo,” Yoona wiped his tears

“C-can you hold me?” Donghae asked through his tears as at that moment he needed a comforting touch to tell him that everything was okay, even when he knew it wasn’t. Kind of like when a mother comforts her crying child, he needed that sensation.

(Yoona nodded and put her arms around him whilst he cried on her shoulder. She rubbed  his back whilst whispering soothing words in his ear. Donghae lifted his head from her shoulder for a moment)

“You are just like my umma sometimes…” he mumbled

(Yoona thought what it was like to have a mother comfort you when you are upset. She had never known because her mother had    left her when she was only a child. She knew it wasn’t her mother’s fault though… Her sister often comforted Yoona when she was upset but it wasn’t the same feeling. Her father didn’t know how to comfort Yoona and just let her sister do it, so Yoona didn’t know the feeling of being comforted by both parents)

“Your turn…” she said after awhile

(Donghae looked at her confused, but he wrapped his arms around her tightly whilst rocking her gently)

“Is this what your appa used to do to you? Is that why you want me to do it?” Donghae murmured

“No, my appa never did this to me, I wanted to know what it was like…” Yoona rested her head on his shoulder

(Her words made his heart break but he showed her a ‘cheer up, I’m here for you’ smile. He cupped her face with both hands and looked at her in the eyes)

“We only have each other to rely on Yoong, so let’s make a deal. No matter what happens to us, we will always be there for each other. Deal?” he asked

“Deal…” Yoona nodded

“I love you,” he kissed her forehead
