Wrong Train; Right TracksChanyeol is tired.
His fingers feel like boulders; his head throbs with the worst migraine he’s ever suffered. His eyes burn with the strain of staring at the screen of the laptop for so long.
He types away at the balance sheet before him, making notes and observations.
A small hand slides around his waist, and he feels his boyfriend’s warm breath on his neck. “Chanyeol-ah,” Baekhyun sings softly. “Come sleep.”
“Y-yeah,” Chanyeol says, stretching. He twists around to kiss Baekhyun, grateful for the distraction. “I have to finish this.”
“How long will you take?” Baekhyun asks, leaning his chin on Chanyeol’s shoulder.
Chanyeol sighs, carding his fingers through Baekhyun’s hair. “I don’t know, Baek.”
“Oh, Chanyeol,” Baekhyun whispers, pressing a kiss to Chanyeol’s neck. “You can finish this tomorrow; come to bed.”
“You go sleep, baby,” Chanyeol says, smiling up at Baekhyun. “I’ll join you.”
“I’ll stay with you till you’re done.” Baekhyun declares, settling into the couch in Chanyeol’s home office. Chanyeol looks at his boyfriend with an amused smile on his lips.
“You’re very distracting, Byun Baekhyun,” Chanyeol says, “Those y duck-pyjamas make me want to eat you up.” His voice dips.
“Is that so?” Baekhyun asks, grinning. “Come to bed, then. You can take these y ducks off me.” He winks.
But Chanyeol’s phone buzzes in his pocket, slicing through the heat.
Baekhyun groans and Chanyeol mouths an apology to him. “Taemin, what is it?” Chanyeol says into the phone. “Yes, I’m going through the balance sheets right now. Why are our octroi taxes so high? Don’t we get any incentives?”
Baekhyun kisses the top of Chanyeol’s head before walking out and closing the door behind him softly.
Baekhyun slides into the covers, sighing. He reaches out to the other side of the bed, empty and endless. His heart feels like lead, weighing him down. He curls into the smallest possible ball, hugging his knees to his chest and trying to push away the doubts that chip at his heart.
