Good Kind of Trouble
I Knew You Were Trouble“Do you need another refill, sir?”
Ryeowook nodded, thanking the waitress with a slight nod of his head. Embarrassed, he kept his head bowed. This was his third refill through the night and still, his date had not arrived. Should Ryeowook just leave? Ryeowook his maroon sweater, glancing down with a small frown on his lips. He took an hour just to pick out something to wear and then took another hour just to do his hair. Was it all done in vain in the end?
About fifty minutes ago, Ryeowook had arrived at the restaurant with a shy smile on his lips as he took a seat and waited. But five minutes turned into twenty and then thirty and then fifty and now, Ryeowook wasn’t so sure anymore.
Did he heard wrongly?
Was this the correct location?
Today was Saturday, wasn’t it?
Had his date bailed on him?
Ryeowook pulled out his phone. Yes, the date and location was right. His date had even texted him last night, confirming everything. Okay so no. They did text, but Ryeowook was the first to ask. His date had replied him with a simple yes. And that was the end of their conversation.
He was a friend of Ryeowook’s older brother and met during his brother’s wedding. They seemed to really click back then. When he asked Ryeowook out, Ryeowook immediately agreed to go out on a date with him. How could Ryeowook not? He was Ryeowook’s ideal type of man after all! Tall, handsome, funny, nice-looking, clean, kind, goes to church, and also, the bonus factor was that he had a pretty stable job in the business industry. Ever since his brother’s wedding, Ryeowook had been thinking of him all the time, counting down to the days where they would finally meet for their date.
But as time passed, people were starting to give Ryeowook ugly looks. Some of them looked at him with sympathy, while others shook their heads disapprovingly. Had he done something wrong? Why were those people looking at him like that? He was starting to feel uncomfortable and… A little Depressed.
Ryeowook contemplated leaving. The long stares of everyone here was starting to get to him, making him insecure. Just as Ryeowook was about to get up and leave the damn place, someone slipped into the opposite seat.
“Hey, sorry I’m late, babe!”
Ryeowook blinked.
Once.
Twice.
And then one more time.
This was not his date.
In fact, Ryeowook had no idea who this person even was.
He was blonde and muscular. He had on a leather jacket, black shirt and black jeans and tattoos peeking out from his chest and on the side of his neck. He was trouble and Ryeowook could confirm it by how the stranger was smirking at him, his brown eyes glistering with unreadable emotions. He was completely the opposite of what his date was supposed to look like.
“Don’t look like you’re about to faint on me, cutie.” He winked and then waved his hands, gesturing for the waitress to hand him a menu.
The waitress handed out the stranger and Ryeowook the menu and the stranger flipped through it while Ryeowook continued staring at him, dumbfounded.
“I’ll have one of these,” The stranger points at the menu and then glanced at Ryeowook, tilting his head as he raised his eyebrows at him. Noticing that Ryeowook was still in a daze, the stranger waved his hands and then sighed, “He’ll have just the same.”
The waitress thanked the men and then walked away.
“Hey there, you okay?” The stranger questioned, waving his hands in front of Ryeowook’s face.
Finally, Ryeowook was able to snap back into reality as he timidly nodded and then shook his head. Ryeowook himself didn’t know if he was okay or not.
“I… Um… Who are you?” Ryeowook asked, a little afraid since the man looked like he was a gangster and he was at least twice as big as Ryeowook.
“Does it matter who I am?” He shot back, chuckling.
Ryeowook blinked, nervously fidgeting. “I… Err… No? I mean… Yes?”
The stranger laughed, “I’m Donghae. Lee Donghae.”
Okay, so now he knew the stranger’s name. So… What now?
“I… Um… I’m sorry… But…” Ryeowook swallowed hard, “Do… Do I know… You?”
“Probably not,” The stranger, whose name was Donghae, shrugged his shoulders. “And I don’t know you either.”
“So… Why are you… Here?”
Again, Donghae shrugged his shoulders, nonchalantly. “I’m hungry and you looked pitiful.”
Ryeowook kept to himself as Donghae’s eyes searched through the restaurant. There was something about this stranger. He was handsome, Ryeowook had to admit it. But… Like Ryeowook had mentioned previously, he looked like trouble. And now, although someone had finally occupied the seat opposite of his, the people in the restaurant were still looking at him. This time, they weren’t looking at him like they felt sorry for him. They were looking at Ryeowook and Donghae in disbelief.
Ryeowook had to admit, they’d look funny together. Never in a million years would Ryeowook thought of ever having dinner with someone like Donghae. He was too muscular and he held a bad-boy kind of vibe despite his handsome face. Ryeowook, on the other hand, felt that he was way too scrawny and looked like your average loser. The both of them didn’t match at all and Ryeowook bet that the people in the restaurant looking at them were probably thinking the same too.
“So, what happened?”
Ryeowook snapped out of his thoughts, confused. “Wh.. What do you mean?”
Donghae chuckled lightly, “How did you end up so pitiful like this? Your date stood you up?”
When Ryeowook refused to agree or deny, Donghae leaned back against his seat, eyes travelling over Ryeowook’s body and then to his face. Ryeowook squirmed in his seat. He felt extremely all of a sudden. And he wanted to run away. Badly. But his legs wouldn’t listen.
“Figures,” Donghae said dryly, “Girls are s.”
This caught Ryeowook by surprise a
