Chapter 8

Somewhere between sleep and awake, Taemin unwrapped himself from Areum, and rested on his back. A soft smile on his face; Areum shifted and mumbled in her sleep; burrowing her face into his obliques, her little hand carelessly rubbing his hip. Her resting state, was cute to him; and he let out a little giggle, adoring her. Pulling the blanket over her body more, shifting seamlessly as possible to let her rest on his chest. Combing his hand through her tangled hair, gently detangling it and pressing his lips to her hand. Keeping her hand in his, he thought about earlier, and smiled with complete peace.

Yawning, “this is what it means to be committed in equal love.” he hummed softly, drifting back into the night.

Soft, warm and light pressure peppered his face, waking him from his rest; opening his eyes, with a smile. Her bright smile, outlined with full rosy lips and black hair still a mess, framing her face; made his heart jolt. Lifting his head little bit from the pillow, gently guiding her forward by her nape; kissing gently and sweetly. as she rested all her weight on him, straddling his hips as she dipped in for another kiss. Biting his ear, looking into his eyes dark with lust; playfully extending his neck to peck her lips and growling at her in tease.

Giggling, “Taem, let’s go somewhere, anywhere.”

Brushing her hair from her face, “Ah,”looking at the clock, “what is there at seven thirty in the morning?”

Reaching behind herself she retrieved a hair tie, “ Haircuts are a must,” she tied his hair up in a bun, trying her best to get his bangs out of his face. “You had something bugging you, so somewhere we can talk about it?”

Pecking her lips, “hmm, let’s go to the mountains and have a cozy date.”

Crawling out of the bed, “Mountains”

Following her to the bathroom, “It’s new scenery for you; let's make more colors and memories.”

Starting the hot water up in the shower, “but you, still have to tell me what was bugging you.”

Following her into the shower, “for starters, it is probably stupid.”

“Taem, what is it?”

He remained silent for a little bit, and undid the hair tie , throwing it to the sink over the shower door. Gradually getting closer to her, until she backed herself against the shower wall under the shower head. The hot water hissing and falling down his hair, leaning down to kiss Areum.

“My brother is getting married, but to the woman that.”

Squirting some shampoo in her hands, “Let me guess your ex?” she sighed, massaging his scalp.

Purring, “she is going to be around me for the rest of my life.” He dipped his head, resting his forehead on her shoulder.

Detaching the shower head and rinsing the shampoo out, “baby, you have me and as far as I am concerned i’m not leaving.”

He kissed her neck, the heft of his bottom lip gliding over her sweet spot on her neck, gave her goosebumps; even under all this hot water. Smiling at his subtle affection, his nape and beginning to put conditioner in it; he leaned back and began shampooing her hair while she began rinsing his out. Laughing at the faces he made , once the soapy water streamed down his face; screaming in joy as he tickled her and pressed heated kisses to her lips and nose.

Mountains

Buckled in, after packing his car with small luggage and excitement. He seated himself in the driver’s seat and started the engine; squeezing her hand before pulling out of her driveway. Waving goodbye to the familiar scenery and university; that was practically over by now.  Sitting in the car left her relaxed, and alone in her thoughts; although the sound of Taemin humming along to the radio that whispered in the subtle heat of the car. Fogged windows from the winter wonderland outside; on a trip somewhere she had never been.

“Something troubling you?” he asked.

Smiling, “no, I was just thinking about you.” She hummed kissing his hand that held hers.

Humming, “I hope I don’t cause you any frustration?” Eyes on the road. “I only want you to be happy, even though, I just want you to be happy.” He dipped his face to kiss her hand and eyes back on the road.

The sound shuffled, the drums and depth of the singers voices resonated with the two. Warm and comfy, a perfect contrast with the brilliant white of the fresh snow resting in its slumber on the green blades of grass and tall trees. Looking out her window once more,  peering down , the ocean waved hello as the soft snowfall kissed it’s face. The drums and vocals, built up too the bridge and it was as if Areum’s heart fell out of her chest. The winter season seemed sad, but as she turned her face to look at Taemin, her heart fluttered again and her eyes brimmed with tears.

She couldn’t understand why just looking at him made her emotional; but she smiled and blushed when he made unexpected eye contact with her. Passing over a bridge, through a dim tunnel partially lit by natural lighting; he looked ethereal to her. His eyes were warm, and melted her heart as soon as his full lips turned up at the corners. His tan skin, warmer under the yellow lights of the tunnel; although his hair was shaggy she adored him like this. A bit of a beard growing in and framing his jaw nicely; she wished he wouldn’t shave it off, like he planned once they got to the cabin.

Blushing more, and looking away; chuckling from her blatant admiration. He chuckled, and turned his attention back to the road; even though it seemed as if , he watched her watching in for a long time in slow motion. It was merely only a couple seconds, and then reality crept back through her. Squeezing her chest and his hand; she bit her bottom lip, glancing back at him. His profile sharp and long lashes thick and dark; smiling at the way his adam’s apple jumped as he laughed continuously. The sound harmonious to her ears, she leaned across the armrest in the middle and whispered in his ear.

“I love you.” Kissing his cheek, leaning back into her seat, looking forward.

“Not fair,” he mumbled. “I can’t kiss you, or hold you like this; yet you tease me.” He smiled, looking at her, “I love you too, Honey.”

She turned to look at him, his cheeks flushed,up to his ears ; and the words resonating from the surrounding speakers.

“As many petaled kiss I place upon her brow

Oh, my lady, Lady I am loving you now”
