Pandora
Drabbles“Stop,” she pleaded. “I don’t want to jinx you anymore.”
“You’re not jinxing me,” he insisted, reaching out to hold her hand. She backed away.
“I am,” she cried. “I’ve always brought bad luck to my dates. That’s why my relationships never lasted past a week.” She sighed.
“I thought it had gone away. It had been years since I dated… but… it’s still here,” she continued. “Please, I don’t want to hurt you.”
“You’re hurting me more if you push me away,” he said, reaching out to her once more. She let him hold her this time.
“Please,” she whispered weakly, against her will. “Let me go…”
“If I hadn’t loved you enough, do you think I’ll try for so long?” he asked. “I persevered despite all the rejections you gave me, and I’m sure I can persevere long enough until all this bad luck goes away.”
She remained silent, shaking her head.
“Have you heard of the Pandora’s box?” he asked.
She nodded against his chest. “Yeah, it brings about disasters and everything bad when it’s opened. Like me.”
He nodded. “But that’s not all to the story,” he said. “It is said that when it’s first opened, it releases all the disasters and evil stuffs…”
“But…” he continued. “When it is opened the second time, it releases hope, which cures all the sufferings in the world.”
“And, I’m going to stay with you until that happens.”
And with that, he kissed her.
